The Concierge Iacopo Chierici’s advices
LET’S DISCOVER FLORENCE WITH IACOPO CHIERICI
As a Chiavi d’Oro Concierge of Westin Excelsior Hotel in Florence, here are a few tips to those visiting the city to help them get the most out of their stay
I was born in Florence in 1971 and I began my career as a trainee hotel concierge in the late 1980s. I graduated in 1990, I did my national service and, in 1992, I moved to England, to Stratford Upon Avon, where I got a job as a waiter. I came back to Florence in December 1993 and I began working full-time at the Concierge Dept. of the Grand Hotel (the current The St. Regis Florence). I started off as the hotel’s telephone operator and then, step by step, pageboy, doorman, assistant Concierge and, finally, Concierge. I moved to the Associate Westin Excelsior in 2004 as assistant to the Head Concierge where I still work passionately. In 2006, I became a member of LES CLEFS D’OR. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and share life and travelling experiences; I enjoy helping guests explore the beauties of Florence and Tuscany. I love Florentine traditions, my favorite one is a quick lunch at one of the local food kiosks with a panino al lampredo o and a good glass of Chianti wine!
