GREENWOOD CEMETERY

DOWNTOWN PARKING

Downtown Atlanta is known for its automobile-centric culture, with vast privately owned surface lots. Although the surface parking lots have the potential to be used as dynamic public space, they are encroaching on the downtown area. The average coverage rate of the parking lots is about three-quarters full. This indicates that there is a lack of public spaces in downtown, and this problem may keep pushing people out of downtown if the transition process from public to private cant be reversed.
