COMIC CON SCHEDULE
Meet today’s emcee:
Johnie
Johnie has always liked ninjas, giant robots, mutants, a sprinkle of fantasy and many things considered nerd culture. After friends finally convinced Johnie to attend a convention, he became a cosplayer, learned new skills and discovered joy in meeting others to geek out. Working on costuming projects has taught him to think creatively on how to build items and how to weigh out screen accuracy versus real-world functionality. Choose Your Weapon: Writing for Comics vs Writing for Prose Comic books do not tell stories in the same way a prose novel does. Comic books are comic books. And if you’re a novelist looking to try your hand at writing one, you need to embrace this fact and develop a new facet of your craft, so you can create a story that not only works as a comic book, but one that works best as a comic book. New Women of Star Wars From Ahsoka Tano to Sabine Wren, let’s meet the ladies leading the rebellion. Star Wars creator George Lucas has always prided himself on strong female roles within his movies, dating back to Princess Leia. Yet, over the past four decades, many other females have garnered the attention and admiration of fans and moviegoers alike. Let’s talk about the new heroines of Star Wars, and maybe a villain or two. Come dressed to show us your favorite Star Wars female character.
Potions 101 From Felis Felicis to Pumpkin Juice Join us as we “stir” up a potion or two and “cook” up a delicious snack to help us get through the day! Gothic Arts, part 1 Making a Mysterious Masterpiece: Why buy run-of-the-mill journals when you can make your own? In this class, we will transform journals/sketchbooks into a unique gothic treasure from none other than our own nightmares. You can follow along with the teacher in making a creature from the darkest depths of the ocean. Or, you can imagine a creature of your own to create. This class is two sessions. You must sign up for both. Paint Like Bob Ross at Girl Scout Comic Con During the ‘80s and ‘90s, Bob Ross made art accessible to millions via the PBS program The Joy of Painting to the curley-haired master, there were no such things as mistakes. An errant mark or blob of paint was simply known as a “happy little accident.” So, join me as we paint some happy little trees and create our own Bob Ross inspired masterpieces.

Game Design Basics: Let’s Put the Fun in Fundamentals From video games to tabletop roleplaying to board games, many of the theories and practices of game design are universal. Together, we will break down some of the elements that influence game designs across the genres. Whether you want to be a game designer or you just want to be able to easily access the quality of potential games for play, the basics are always good to know. Closet Cosplay: Level Up Your Dress Up! Are you new to cosplay? Do you have a tight budget? Do you just want to know what cosplay is? Then this is the panel for you! In this session, you will be introduced to beginner’s cosplay and will begin building your cosplay closet at home...in your own closet.
