Outdoor Programs SUMMER CAMP 2022

Get ready for fun, friends and adventure this summer!

All of our summer programs are listed on the calendar at www.girlscoutsp2p.org. Register for camp, badge workshops, events and more!


Day Camp Grades K - 5

Spend your whole day (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) enjoying a variety of camp activities. A week-long session of Day Camp is $185. Before and after hours extended care is available for an additional $35. Campers will need to bring a packed lunch.

CAMP PISGAH

Broadway Basics JULY 18 - 22

Spend the week on the stage as we learn all about the basics of Broadway! Sharpen your skills with classes on acting, singing, costume, set design and more. We will end the week with a final performance for all of our day camp adults to showcase everything campers worked on during the week.

Magic and Mysteries JULY 25 - 29

Grab your brooms and wands! Learn potions, transfigurations and hunting horcruxes, as well as play an action-packed game of quidditch! End the week creating magical snacks and creating your own special house attire!

Renaissance Revival AUGUST 1 - 5

Dragons, knights and fairies, oh my! Blast into a medieval world full of magic! Learn how to joust, create and tame your own dragon and capture fairies! Take archery lessons in Sherwood Forest, make your own candles and create your own crest and suit of armor!


KEYAUWEE PROGRAM CENTER Creative Genius JULY 18 - 22

Nature will inspire campers as they explore, create and design different kinds of art. They will create a different masterpiece each day- from jewelry, to paintings, to recycled art. This week is all about unleashing your inner artist.

Outdoors & S’mores JULY 25 - 29

Campers will sample all the amazing things camp has to offer. They’ll enjoy arts and crafts, pool time, s’mores over a campfire, camp songs with new friends and so much more! This sampler program is a perfect introduction to summer camp.

Tiny Scientists AUGUST 1 - 5

Campers will see their dreams come to life as they experiment their way through this camp week. They’ll take part in an egg drop competition, create spaghetti towers, make their own ice cream, explode a watermelon and more! Get science-y, get messy and get inventive! We provide the materials; you provide the imagination! Horse Day Camp and other summer programs at Circle C Equestrian Center are listed on page 9 of this brochure. There will be no 2022 Summer Day Camp at Camp Ginger Cascades.

Program Aide

$95 This program is for girls who have already been trained as Program Aides and want to assist younger campers at day camp. Have fun in the outdoors while practicing your leadership skills at camp! This is not an overnight program.

Counselor-In-Training (CIT) I

Keyauwee Program Center: JUNE 26 - JULY 8 Camp Pisgah: JULY 31 - AUGUST 12 Grades 10 - 12, $675 This two-week opportunity is for girls who are ready to begin the pathway to camp leadership at resident camp. Topics covered in training include: introduction to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, age and social characteristics of younger campers, essential skills needed to be a great counselor and how to lead songs and games. CIT I’s will spend nights in their own unit and receive ongoing supervision and leadership guidance from the CIT Director, while building teamwork skills and observing unit staff.

Counselor-In-Training (CIT) II

Keyauwee Program Center: JUNE 12 - 24 Camp Pisgah: JULY 17 - 29 Grades 10 - 12, $675 This three-week opportunity is for the aspiring resident camp counselor. CIT II participants will spend nights in their own unit for the first week and receive ongoing supervision and leadership guidance from the CIT Director, while learning the skills needed to be an outstanding camp counselor. In the second week, girls will work all week with a unit, and in the third week will shadow the program staff at camp in different specialty areas. Once admitted to the CIT II Program, girls will be able to choose their third week. Participants will have an opportunity to observe the unit and program staff, evaluate experiences and receive guidance from the CIT Director as they assist in units. Prerequisite: CIT I and admission into the program by application and interview.

Riding-Instructor-In-Training (RIIT)

Circle C Equestrian Center: JUNE 12 - 17, JUNE 19 - 24, JUNE 26 - JULY 1, JULY 3 - 5, JULY 10 - 15

Ages 13+, $75 Lead as a Riding-Instructor-In-Training (RIIT) Barn Assistant! You will learn how to teach others about horse grooming, leading, riding and caring for horses. In return for your help at the barn, you will have the opportunity to ride, broaden your knowledge of horses and meet friends that share a love for horses too! Prerequisite: This program is for currents RIITs who have volunteered 24 hours or 4 Saturdays at Circle C Equestrian Center in the 20212022 year. Application and interview required.


Camp Ginger Cascades LENOIR, NC

Camp Ginger Cascades is offering adventure-based sessions for troops this summer!

Great Out S’mores

Troop Trekking

JUNE 19 - 22, JUNE 22 - 25, JULY 3 - 6

JULY 10 - 13, JULY 13 - 16

Grades 4 - 12, $200 per person Go back to the basics and learn to tie knots, build shelters, start fires and take a backpacking trip on camp property with our trained camp staff. Don’t worry, you will have extra time to make your favorite campfire treats.

Grades 6 - 12, $450 per person Meet your new llama buddies and trek out on an overnight adventure! The next day, take a hike to a nearby water fall and then head back to Camp Ginger Cascades to kick back, relax and enjoy all camp has to offer.

Grades 6 - 12, $400 per person Up for an adrenaline rush? Take in the sights on a zip line tour, venture onto an aerial park and end your adventure with the giant swing! Due to the nature of these activities, campers should weigh between 75 and 265 pounds to participate.

Grades 6 - 12, $350 per person Ready to make a splash? Canoe, swim, stand-up paddle board and spend a day on the river where you will try your hand at white water rafting.

NEW THIS YEAR!

Service unit and troop camp rentals at Camp Ginger Cascades! Have you ever wanted to take your troop camping during the summer, but didn’t have a facility to use? Camp Ginger Cascades is going to be open all summer long for troops and service units to reserve different lodging options and give their girls their very own camp experience. Rental forms are available at www.girlscoutsp2p.org.


Resident Camp Mini Sessions

All mini sessions at camp are $235. Grade levels vary by program. Perfect for first-time campers or for those who only want to spend a few days at camp! Girls will get to experience traditional camp activities like swimming at the pool, crafts, boating and more!

EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT

Save $50 on any full week resident camp or CIT I programs when you register by February 28.

Full Week Sessions

All full week sessions at camp are $475. Grade levels vary by program. Spend a full week at camp! Girls will get to experience traditional camp activities like swimming at the pool, crafts, boating and more!

Resident Horse Camp

Hay, don’t forget the horses! With more than 15 horses and an enthusiastic staff, campers can register for an equestrian program and experience the world of horses! Equestrian programs include progressive riding instruction, games and barn lessons for all riding levels. Whether you are new to horses or an experienced rider, we have equestrian programs designed for everyone. When not at Circle C Equestrian Center, you will participate in traditional camp activities at Keyauwee Program Center.

Mini Horse Camp Sessions

All mini horse camp sessions are $335. Grade levels vary by program. Half-week horse programs are a great way for campers to get their first taste of horseback riding and life at the barn, while also experiencing many other camp activities.

Full Week Horse Sessions

All full week horse sessions are $650. Grade levels vary by program. For campers who want more time at the barn. Whether campers are firsttime riders or have recently discovered a passion for horses through another program, our week long sessions teach beginning horsemanship skills.


Camp Pisgah BREVARD, NC

Game Show-Show Down (Family Camp) JULY 3 - 5

$200 per person It’s time to play The Amazing Race, Price is Right, Survivor, Wipeout and more! Each day and evening will center around a different game show for you to build and test your skills with your friends and family.

Broadway Basics

Midsummer Night’s Dream Full Week (Grades 4 - 12): AUGUST 7 - 12 Participate in classic camp activities during the day, but the real excitement starts when the sun sets and the rest of the world sleeps. All week you will get to participate in exclusive night-only activities.

Un-Gnome Mysteries

Mini Session (Grades 1 - 3): JUNE 12 - 14, JUNE 15 - 17 Full Week (Grades 2 - 12): JUNE 12 - 17 Full Week Horse Camp (Grades 4 - 12): JUNE 12 - 17 What sneaky, cheeky mischief have the camp gnomes been up to? There are lots of puzzles and mysteries to solve as you hunt for the missing gnome homes and complete the gnomes’ scavenger hunts to find woodland treasures!

A Pirate’s Paradise

Mini Session (Grades 1 - 3): JUNE 26 - 28, JUNE 29 - JULY 1 Full Week (Grades 2 - 12): JUNE 26 - JULY 1 Full Week Horse Camp (Grades 4 - 12): JUNE 26 - JULY 1 Ahoy! All hands on deck for an adventure! Be ready to explore the briny deep as you hunt for sunken treasure and enjoy a floating lunch. Find hidden gold on land as you solve your way through a scavenger hunt and challenge yourself to victory during a water fight.

Glitter and Goo Part 2

Mini Session (Grades 1 - 12): JULY 3 - 5 Join us again for one of your favorite weeks at camp! Get messy and embrace your inner artist as you try your hand at different crafts and slime! You will also get to spend time doing your other favorite camp activities like swimming and canoeing.

Global Games

Mini Session (Grades 1 - 3): JULY 10 - 12, JULY 13 - 15 Mini Horse Camp (Grades 2 - 3): JULY 10 - 12 Mini Horse Camp (Grades 4 - 5): JULY 13 - 15 Full Week (Grades 2 - 12): JULY 10 - 15 Full Week Horse Camp (Grades 6 - 12): JULY 10 - 15 Join us for an Olympic-style color war. Represent your assigned country and design your own games, as well as develop your team and coaching skills. Compete daily for points and glory. The winning team will leave with their very own gnome! You will still have time for the usual camp activities like arts and crafts, dinner over a campfire and time at the pool!


Circle C Equestrian Center SOPHIA, NC

HORSE DAY CAMP

Spend your whole day (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) at the barn growing your riding and horse handling skills. Campers will need to bring a packed lunch. Long pants, close-toed shoes or boots are required. Riding helmets are provided.

Pony Parade JULY 18 - 22

Grades 2 - 3, $275 Are you a first-time rider or beginner enthusiast? Each day includes a riding lesson, horsemanship activities, horse care and horse-themed crafts. On Friday, introduce your family to your favorite horse!

Ready, Set, Show! JULY 25 - 29

Grades 6 - 12, $300 Wonder what it’s like to compete in a horse show? Each day includes a riding lesson, horsemanship activities, horse care and horse show preparations. On Friday, invite your family to watch you compete in a multi-event horse show!

Hold Your Horses! AUGUST 1 - 5

Grades 4 - 5, $275 Are you a first-time rider or beginner enthusiast? Each day includes a riding lesson, horsemanship activities, horse care and horse-themed crafts. On Friday, introduce your family to your favorite horse!


HORSE RESIDENT CAMP

Register for a horse camp session at Keyauwee Program Center to experience traditional camp activities and daily horse activities at Circle C Equestrian Center. Full week and mini sessions available.

BADGE WORKSHOPS

Each badge workshop includes a riding lesson and barn and horse activities specific to the badge. Workshop fee is $40 per girl. JULY 23

RIDING LESSONS

Riding lessons will be available this summer for riders of all ages, abilities and ambitions. Lessons will be in a group setting and are $40 for one lesson or $100 for three lessons. You can book lessons by contacting circlec@girlscoutsp2p.org. JULY 18 - AUGUST 4

Unplug and get outside! Our friendly and caring staff will help guide your girl through our programs, as well as encourage her to experience new things that help build essential life skills, including: • interpersonal and social skills. • teamwork and conflict resolution. • critical thinking and problem solving. • confidence and independence.
