WHAT IS LEADERFEST?

Leaderfest is a one-day (with some overnight options) fun, casual and relaxing training event for volunteers – both volunteers working with girls and Girl Scouts and also other youth groups. There are no opening or closing ceremonies, no gifts to bring and no special dress. It is a chance to sit back, enjoy yourself, make new friends and join others to learn some new skills or activities. And if you want, you may come up to camp on Friday evening and spend the night with your friends and/or stay overnight on Saturday evening. Leaderfest is an adult learning event and retreat for our adult Girl Scout volunteers over the age of 18. This year we will have an optional program for school age children (boys and girls in grades K–5) from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Children will participate in a variety of camp activities at a separate location in camp. If you chose the overnight option for Friday and/or Saturday night, your child(ren) may also stay with you in Rainbow.

THE ED WHITMIRE SCHOLARSHIP FUND Ed Whitmire was a dedicated trainer for both the Pisgah and Hornets’ Nest Girl Scout councils for many years. After his death in 2005, the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Ed Whitmire Scholarship Fund was created in his honor, as a way of continuing his work of training and inspiring adult Girl Scout volunteers.

Each year, the fund is fed and nurtured by fundraising at our three Adult Learning Events. If you have donated or purchased items offered at the auctions at these events, YOU are helping to continue Ed’s work. Thank you! If you receive a scholarship to attend learning events, you are also helping to continue his legacy. Please don’t let financial issues keep you from the fun, fellowship and training available to you here at GSCP2P! P2P registered adults in good standing may apply for up to 75% of registration and course fees (not commemorative items). All requested information must be completed fully and submitted by October 17 in order to be considered for a scholarship. Once approved, a scholarship code will be provided to allow online registration for the learning event. Use our online scholarship application by going to https://girlscoutsp2p.wufoo.com/forms/ pdgs6dj0f99shr. No computer access? Scholarship applications may also be completed by calling 800-672-2148.
