2024 Summer Camp PROGRAM GUIDE
Leadership Programs Counselor-In-Training (CIT) I Keyauwee Program Center: JUNE 16-21 & JUNE 23-28 Camp Ginger Cascades: JULY 7-12 & JULY 14-19 Grade 11 This two-week opportunity is for older campers who are ready to begin the pathway to camp leadership at resident camp. During their first week, girls will have training on topics such as introduction to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, age and social characteristics of younger campers, essential skills needed to be a great counselor and how to lead songs and games. During their second week, girls will split their time between training sessions and shadowing camp staff working with younger campers. They will observe the unit and program staff, evaluate experiences and receive guidance from the CIT Coordinator as they assist in units. During both weeks, CITs will spend nights in their own unit and receive ongoing supervision and leadership guidance from the CIT Coordinator, while building teamwork skills and observing unit staff. IMPORTANT: CITs will need to be picked up on Friday like any other camper for both weeks of their stay. CITs will not be staying at camp the weekend between their two weeks at camp. PREREQUISITE: Program Aide Award or six volunteer hours working with younger girls AND admission into the Teen Outdoor Leadership Program by application.
Riding-Instructor-In-Training (RIIT) Mini Session: JUNE 30-JULY 3 Full Week: JUNE 16-21, JUNE 23-28 Ages 13+ Unleash your potential as a Riding-Instructor-In-Training (RIIT) Barn Assistant! Discover the art of instructing others on horse grooming, leading, riding and horse care. With us, you’ll gain hands-on experience, develop your riding skills and expand your horse knowledge. Plus, you’ll make lifelong friends who share your passion for horses. PREREQUISITE: This program is for currents RIITs who have volunteered 24 hours or four Saturdays at Circle C Equestrian Center in the 2023 - 2024 year. Application and interview required. TEEN OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

PREREQUISITE: CIT I AND a Silver Torch, Silver & Gold Torch, Gold Torch, a Community Service Bar or a Service to Girl Scouting Bar AND admission into the Teen Outdoor Leadership Program by application.

Are you an aspiring camp counselor or an older camper looking to take your leadership skills to the next level? Apply to our Teen Outdoor Leadership Program (TOLP)! TOLP expands the Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program from a summer camp experience to a year-round leadership development program. In addition to the summer CIT program, TOLP offers the Teen Outdoor Leadership Summit in the spring, Teen Outdoor Leadership Conference in the fall and meetings throughout the year to keep program members engaged!

This week, you will choose between classic camp activities such as climbing, archery, swimming, hiking and more! Create new passions when you take counselor-led classes like campfire cooking, sewing or painting. Each day try something exciting, meet new friends and enjoy the outdoors. Earn points for your team by competing in daily challenges and games. Battle it out during all camp activities and chant loud to earn the most team spirit awards! You will get the chance to participate in classic camp activities such as boating, archery, climbing, crafts and more... all while earning points for your team!

Fly high like the birds on the Adventure Park and swim like the fish in the pool! Mini Session (Grades 2 - 3): JULY 28 - 31 Full Week (Grades 4 - 12): JULY 28 - AUGUST 2 Shoot for the stars and explore the galaxy at our space science-themed week at Camp Ginger Cascades! Campers of all ages will make discoveries that deepen their understanding of space. In addition to traditional camp activities such as archery, boating and the climbing wall, campers will also go stargazing and learn about the constellations, re-create scientific experiments and use tools to see the stars in a new way. Equine Experience
A Horse of My Own JUNE 16 - 21 OR JUNE 23 - 28 Grades 6 - 8 Have you always wanted a horse of your own? This is the perfect program for riders of all levels to see what it takes to be a future horse owner. Campers will be matched with a horse and spend the week getting to know their horse, setting riding goals and learning what a horse needs for daily care.
Spend your whole day (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) at the barn growing your riding and horse handling skills, in addition to participating in a unique, activity-based educational program, Equi-Scholars, that teaches riders to better understand equine behavior. Campers will need to bring a packed lunch. Long pants, closed-toed shoes or boots are required. Riding helmets are provided.

JULY 15 - 19 Grades 2 - 5 This day camp is perfect for new or infrequent riders. Each day will include a riding lesson, horsemanship activities, horse care and horse-themed crafts. On Friday, invite your friends and family to take a barn tour and meet your favorite horses.

Artistic Equestrian JUNE 23 - 28 Badges Earned: Grades 4 - 5 Horseback Do you love horses and art? Enjoy a week of riding lessons Riding for all levels of riders. There will be trail riding, horsemanship lessons and unique horse-themed arts and crafts.
JULY 22 - 26 Grades 4 - 12 This day camp is for riders and RIITs currently enrolled in Circle C Equestrian Center’s weekly lesson program or RIIT program. Work on and test your skills. Each rider will have goals for the week and on Friday will have the opportunity to test for their next Horse Sense Learning Level.
Equine Experience - Northwest Horseback Archery JULY 7 - 12 Grades 6 - 8 Saddle up and aim true! Join us for a unique and unforgettable week of exciting art and sport during our Horseback Archery camp. You will work your way through all three levels of our Horseback Archery patch program and finish your week with a friendly competition and demonstration for your family and friends. IMPORTANT: This week of camp is for riders who are confident at walk, trot and canter on a variety of horses in English tack. A riding reference will be required. No archery experience needed. All equipment will be provided.

JULY 29 - AUGUST 2 Grades 2 - 5 This half day (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.) program is perfect for new or infrequent riders. Each day will include a riding lesson, horsemanship activities, horse care and horsethemed crafts. In addition to meeting the big horses, say hello to the miniature horse herd, play with the pigs and wave to the llama! IMPORTANT: This week of camp is taking place at an off-site location in Summerfield. Campers will need to be dropped off and picked up at this location. Transportation is not provided by Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont.

BRING YOUR TROOP TO CAMP PISGAH THIS SUMMER! Submit a request up to six months in advance of the date. Certifications/Trainings Before a troop can stay overnight on camp property in a self-contained facility (lodge style, everyone in the same building), someone in the troop must complete the Overnight and Activity License found online in gsLearn. In order to build a fire and cook marshmallows or a meal, a Cook Out License is required. Earn it by first holding an Overnight and Activity License and then attending the Fire Building and Outdoor Cooking courses. Troops planning to pitch and sleep in tents OR to camp at a non-council facility will need a Camp License. Requirements are that you hold the Overnight and Activity License and Cook Out Licenses and complete the Tenting skills course. Register for a training on our online calendar.
