Girls meet new people and have the kind of fun that happens when you harness the power of teamwork. Gold Award Girl Scouts Change the World

Gold Award Girl Scouts are change-makers. They have changed the world, changed their lives and earned the most prestigious award in Girl Scouting.

To earn the Gold Award, a Girl Scout identifies an issue in their community, drafts a plan to address a root cause and leads a team of volunteers to implement it. When the project is complete, the Gold Award Girl Scout and their team have made a sustainable impact on the world that continues to last beyond their involvement.

It’s a huge accomplishment that also impacts the Gold Award Girl Scout as a person. How they see the world—and how the world sees them—is forever changed. It’s also a credential that will be with them for the rest of their life; having the Girl Scout Gold Award on a high school transcript or resumé can make a Girl Scout stand out when it comes to college admissions, scholarship applications, internships and job interviews.

The Trifecta Award honors girls who have earned all three of Girl Scouting’s highest awards – the Girl Scout Bronze Award, Silver Award and Gold Award!

Cayden Tirak

Outdoor Creative Learning Center

Cayden, a member of Girl Scout Troop 2305, created an outdoor courtyard at North Lincoln Middle School for students to enjoy throughout the school day. She built colorful picnic tables for the space, as well as planted raised beds and designed a birdbath memorial area. With the courtyard right outside the library, the space can be used as a reading area for students and gives them opportunities to get outside and get fresh air during the day.

Marissa Vernon Seniors Connect with Technology

Marissa, a member of Girl Scout Troop 2385, created a workshop for senior citizens in her community to teach them about smartphones and how to better understand and use them. The four-week course was offered at several locations around Winston-Salem including Becks Baptist Church, Arbor Ridge at Stanleyville and the Mary Alice Warren Community Center. Over 10 participants attended each of the classes where they learned how to use general phone features, how to text people, how to e-mail others, how to download and use apps and how to take a photo and use the camera.

Caca, it’s amazing to see how many things you have participated in and completed since you started Girl Scouts in kindergarten.
