2024 Outdoor Adventure Training Weekend April 19-21, 2024 | Keyauwee Program Center, Sophia, NC Scholarship Requests Due: March 10, 2024 Registration Deadline: March 19, 2024 1
WHAT IS THE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE TRAINING WEEKEND?
The Outdoor Adventure Training Weekend is designed for leaders and volunteers to take training and certification courses in several topics related to camping and the outdoors. Completing the courses offered during Outdoor Adventure Training Weekend will allow you to help your troop, service unit and other troops in our council to have an outdoor experience at any GSCP2P property or any other council- approved location. The base price for this event includes accommodations for Friday and Saturday night, all meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday and a commemorative event patch. Due to the nature of the courses offered, many of them of them are half-day or full-day courses. Depending on the courses you choose, you will be able to attend 2-3 workshops throughout the weekend. If your troop wants to obtain several certifications, we recommend sending multiple volunteers.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR OUTDOOR ADVENTURE TRAINING WEEKEND REGISTRATION:
Volunteers can register online using the calendar at www.girlscoutsp2p.org. The paper registration form at the end of this brochure can be completed and mailed or dropped off at your nearest service center. Please allow several days for paper registrations to be processed. All paper registrations must arrive at your nearest service center by March 19, 2024. Any late registrations will not be accepted. CHOOSING COURSES: Some classes are limited in size and assignments are made on a first come, first serve basis. Please check all time requirements for the courses you sign up for to ensure you do not double book yourself. If you double book yourself, the event that occurs later will be the one cancelled. Council reserves the right to move participants from their preferred time slot to a new one to maximize facilitator effectiveness. FINANCIAL AID: Don’t let finances keep you from joining us at Outdoor Adventure Training Weekend! Apply for financial aid through the Ed Whitmire Adult Learning Scholarship Fund. See page 3 for more information.

THE ED WHITMIRE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Ed Whitmire was a dedicated trainer for both the Pisgah and Hornets’ Nest Girl Scout councils for many years. After his death in 2005, the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Ed Whitmire Scholarship Fund was created in his honor, as a way of continuing his work of training and inspiring adult Girl Scout volunteers. Each year, the fund is fed and nurtured by fundraising at our Adult Learning Events. If you have donated or purchased items offered at the auctions at these events, YOU are helping to continue Ed’s work. Thank you! If you receive a scholarship to attend learning events, you are also helping to continue his legacy. Please don’t let financial issues keep you from the fun. P2P registered adults in good standing may apply for up to 75% of registration and course fees. All requested information must be completed fully and submitted by March 10, 2024 in order to be considered for a scholarship.
