Asheville, Gastonia & Hickory Council Shop Hours Monday - Thursday, Noon - 5 p.m. Every second and fourth Saturday of the month, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (between September 3 and November 12) Triad Pick & Pack All Triad Service Center walk-ins will receive free shipping on Girl Scout Shop orders placed at the new service center (303 Pisgah Church Road, Suite C, Greensboro). Pre-ordered pickups are available at the Triad Service Center or the Keyauwee Program Center Trading Post starting August 22. Keyauwee Program Center Trading Post The Girl Scout Shop at Keyauwee will be open Saturday, September 3 and Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m.3 p.m. (2574 Sweetbriar Road, Sophia). This location will have all the back-to-troop items you need! Uniform Nights Uniform nights are a great way to outfit your troop and get ready for the next year. When you schedule a Uniform Night with us, the council shop will come to your troop meeting with a sample box of uniforms and insignia. You can do uniform fittings and place an order right on the spot! If you are interested in having a Uniform Night for your troop or service unit, use the Pop Up Shop Request Form or call 800-672-2148. Fall Product Program The Fall Product Program is a council-sponsored program that combines educational activities with money-earning activities for troops. The program is directed toward friends and family of Girl Scouts and enables troops to earn startup funds for the year by selling magazines, as well as candy and nuts. Volunteer Trainings Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont offers a range of courses to help prepare and train you in your role as a Girl Scout volunteer. Our goal is to provide girls with the best possible program in a secure environment and to provide adult volunteers with the training necessary to ensure excellent programming for our girls and their safety and protection. We know our volunteers lead busy lives and fitting volunteer training into your schedule can be a challenge. That’s why we offer a variety of ways to earn your training- from online courses and independent study to face-to-face sessions. AUGUST VIRTUAL: Juliette Networking Session - Computer Science Badges Monday, August 1 7 - 8 p.m. DBJCSAVF Connect with other girls in our council and talk about STEM badges and journeys that help build valuable technology skills while exploring scientific topics like gaming and social media. Through STEM, girls are able to solve problems as they use methods from fields like computer science, engineering and cybersecurity. We will discuss an overview of the computer science badges and resources available to help you complete them.
Renaissance Revival Day Camp Monday, August 1 - Friday, August 5 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Camp Pisgah (Brevard) DBJ Dragons, knights and fairies, oh my! Blast into a medieval world full of magic! Learn how to joust, create and tame your own dragon and capture fairies! Take archery lessons in Sherwood Forest, make your own candles and create your own crest and suit of armor!
Tiny Scientists Day Camp Monday, August 1 - Friday, August 5 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Keyauwee Program Center (Sophia) DBJ Campers will see their dreams come to life as they experiment their way through this camp week. They’ll take part in an egg drop competition, create spaghetti towers, make their own ice cream, explode a watermelon and more! Get science-y, get messy and get inventive! We provide the materials; you provide the imagination!

VIRTUAL: Ready, Set, Take Action - Bronze Thursday, August 4 5:30 - 7 p.m. JV Join us for a fun and interactive workshop where you will discover what is necessary to create an amazing Girl Scout Bronze Award Take Action project. Learn how to identify a community need and how to address that need by sharing your skills and passions to help make the world a better place! This workshop is not required to achieve your Girl Scout Bronze Award. However, it is very useful as it covers important topics like the steps to earn the award and submitting your final report. The workshop is also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the Girl Scout Bronze Award. This workshop is for Girl Scout Juniors, their parents and their leaders and is only for Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont members.
Are you a first-time rider or beginner enthusiast? Each day includes a riding lesson, horsemanship activities, horse care and horsethemed crafts. On Friday, introduce your family to your favorite horse!

Camp License Course Saturday, August 6 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Camp Ginger Cascades (Lenoir) V To enjoy a back-to-nature camping experience, complete with tent pitching, fires and outdoor cooking and/or to camp out in your backyard or at a non-council site, you will need to complete the Camp License. The Camp License consists of three pieces: Overnight License, Cook Out License and Tenting (approximately three hours). This course is valuable for volunteers who work with troops and want to help them build independence by learning many useful outdoor skills. It covers tarps, tents, and knots. The license is valid for five years.

Girls in Aviation Day Saturday, September 10 9 a.m. - Noon Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (Concord) DBJCSAVF The First in Flight Chapter hosts an annual Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD) event that is geared toward educating and inspiring young girls to discover the adventurous world of aviation. Girls in Aviation Day is filled with fun activities, displays, exhibits, games and a raffle of wonderful prizes and experiences. Every year we have a different lineup of sponsors, demonstrations, vendors, organizations and food trucks that we team up with to create a unique and exciting event.

Riding Instructor In Training Orientation Saturday, September 10 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Circle C Equestrian Center (Sophia) CSA This Leadership program is for Girl Scouts who can’t get enough horse time! The Riding Instructor In Training program teaches girls safe horse handling techniques, horse and barn care routines and allows them to practice and hone those skills. On Saturdays during the spring and fall, RIITs assist with equine programming at Circle C. Volunteer hours are exchanged for riding time and summer camp opportunities.
Girl Scout Day: Playing the Past Saturday, September 10 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Korner’s Folly (Kernersville) J This annual event offers Girl Scout Juniors the opportunity to complete requirements to earn the Playing the Past and Social Butterfly badges. As troops or individuals with their parent(s), Girl Scout Juniors are invited to take a self-guided tour of the 22-room Victorian-era house museum with a digital scavenger hunt, attend a charming Tea Party on the Porch, play fun and historic yard games and learn about Victorian fashion. Attendees are welcome to bring lunch or snacks for picnics on the lawn.
Appalachian Textiles and Patterns Fun Patch Saturday, September 10 1 - 4 p.m. TBA (Black Mountain) DBJ Come earn an “Appalachian Textiles and Patterns” fun patch! Girl Scouts will work with museum staff to learn about traditional Cherokee basket weaving designs as well as 19th-century quilt patterns and symbology. Girl Scouts will also get to decorate and take home their own aprons after learning about Claudia McGraw, a nationally-recognized entrepreneur of Black Mountain best known as the “apron lady.” Girls will complete all patch requirements during the session and patches will be available to take home at the end of the activities. Note- A minimum number of 8 Girl Scout sign ups is needed in order for this event to take place.

Animal Helper Badge Horse Workshop Saturday, September 17 1 - 4 p.m. Circle C Equestrian Center (Sophia) C Girls will learn more about the therapeutic benefits of riding and equine assisted activities, what it takes to be an adaptive riding horse and explore the careers associated with equine assisted activities and therapies. Participants will have the opportunity to ride, so please wear long pants and close-toed shoes.

Chef Angela of Amore Kitchen is a community partner of Girl Scouts, offering cooking classes for all levels. This is an interactive, hands-on cooking class for girls grades 4-5. Girl Scout Scare School and Camp Snoopy Saturday, September 24 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Carowinds (Charlotte) DBJCSAVF Join us for a fun-filled day of Girl Scout activities in the park, including two Halloween-themed opportunities for girls of all ages. There will be a Scare School actvity, which includes a make-up tutorial, monster meet and greet, maze tour and scare school to learn how to be a SCarowinds monster for the older Girl Scouts. Good Turn for Goodwill For the past 20+ years, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont and Goodwill Industries have partnered together for their annual service project Good Turn for Goodwill. Running October 1-31, Girl Scouts are encouraged to collect bags of gently used clothing and household items to donate to their local Goodwill store. This year, girls are also encouraged to collect unwanted electronic supplies- from computers to old cell phones. The collection of these items helps support employment and training programs throughout the Goodwill organization. Youth Mental Health First Aid Saturday, October 22 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Triad Service Center (Greensboro) V Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18. You’ll build the skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to young people who are struggling. You’ll also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support. This course is presented in a blended format and includes two hours of self-paced prework prior to attending the in-person class. Participants must complete their prework and attend the entire in-person workshop in order to become certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.

VIRTUAL: Stay Fit Saturday, November 12 5 - 6 p.m. J This badge teaches juniors the different ways to get strong and stay healthy. Join us as we explore yoga to help us stress less. Kids yoga classes are a wonderful way to increase children’s coordination, self-awareness, confidence and self-esteem while they stretch and strengthen their bodies. By using yoga, children can learn to relax, concentrate and be gentle in a fun and creative environment. We will focus on learning beginner yoga poses, ways to stress less and how to include the whole family in our fun fitness journey. A yoga mat is recommended but not required. You will need a towel or blanket, a space large enough to lay down and move around and wear something comfy.

What if you hit a roadblock? What is sustainability? Or root cause? Your questions are answered during this lively forum. Join us for an open brainstorming and FAQ session about the Highest Awards. Girls in all stages of their Highest Awards are encouraged to bring their ideas and an open mind to this free session. Parent/guardians, troop leaders and girls are welcome to attend and ask questions as well.
Model Horse Artist Program
Program Aide Training Saturday, November 19 1 - 4 p.m. Keyauwee Program Center (Sophia) or Camp Ginger Cascades (Lenoir) CSA This is a GSCP2P designed leadership course which is required to complete the Program Aide Award. All girls 6th grade and above are invited to attend Program Aide training on their way to completing the steps of the Program Aide Award. This training involves learning to work with children and modifying activities for special needs and situations. You will put your new skills to the test with hands on activities that will prepare you for real life situations working with younger girls at a troop, day camp, council and service unit events.

VIRTUAL: Ready, Set, Take Action - Silver
Do you have what it takes to be a Model Horse Artist? Find out when you register for one of the four available time slots for this event. First, your group will take a guided tour of the Circle C Classic Model Horse Show. You will see competitors showing amazing sculpted and custom painted model horses from the traditional toy Breyer Horse size all the way to horses as small as a dime. Find your inspiration and then design and paint your own model horse. Once your group is done with their horses an official from the Model Show will judge the horses, prizes and ribbons will be awarded.
Join us for a fun and interactive workshop where you will discover what is necessary to create an amazing Girl Scout Silver Award Take Action project. Learn how to identify a community need and how to address that need by sharing your skills and passions to help make the world a better place! This workshop is not required to achieve your Girl Scout Silver Award. However, it is very useful as it covers important topics like the steps to earn the award and submitting your final report. The workshop is also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the Girl Scout Silver Award. AROUND DECEMBER 12 Registration e-mails launched for Smart Cookies access. Girls can begin getting their online sales ready by creating their account, entering customer information and setting goals. DECEMBER 20 Cookie program begins. Girls can begin taking orders both online and on the paper order cards. JANUARY 11-14 Pick up your initial supply of cookies. Prepare for the unexpected with this engaging, hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine. This course is great for people of all experience levels and is best suited for those who recreate outdoors where EMS response can be expected in a timely manner (fewer than eight hours). You’ll learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions. The certification is valid for two years.

Professional dancers lead an information session prior to the performance of the classic holiday ballet The Nutcracker. Girl Scouts learn about costumes, lighting, props, music and, of course, ballet dancing! Girl Scouts receive a special badge for attending, too! Brownie Pets Saturday, December 17 1 - 4 p.m. Circle C Equestrian Center (Sophia) B This will be the perfect introduction to horses and riding for first time and infrequent riders. Girls will rotate through learning stations in the barn and learn what it takes to keep a horse. Each participant will get a brief introductory one-onone riding lesson where they will practice the basic riding skills of mounting, dismounting, walking, stopping and turning. Badges will be included.
