Adult & Service Unit Volunteer Award Girl Scout volunteers do amazing things to support our movement. Recognize a volunteer’s efforts by nominating them for an award! Service unit level nominations are due six weeks prior to the date of the presentation. Board-approved volunteer awards are presented at our Annual Meeting in April and are due February 1.

Global Action Award 2022 The United Nations, where nations come together to solve problems that affect humanity, have chosen 17 important global problems that they are working on. By learning more about them, connecting with others who care and then taking action in your community and beyond, you can play an important role in healing our world and creating a better tomorrow for all of us. JANUARY VIRTUAL: Juliette Networking Session Math in Nature Monday, January 3 6 - 7 p.m. DBJVF The new Math in Nature badges build on one another as Girl Scouts learn about shapes, numbers and design in nature. They’ll plan a hiking adventure, create trail maps and design a bird feeder—all while learning math concepts. Join us in this session as we overview the new Math in Nature badges for Daisy, Brownie and Junior levels.
VIRTUAL: Monday Mini - 4-HER Building Family Support Monday, January 3 7 - 8 p.m. V There are only so many hours in a day, so girls and their parents or guardians have to balance many growing and diverging interests, commitments and responsibilities. That is why Girl Scouting today is more flexible than ever. Join us for an hour of discussion, activities and a resource guide to building that all-important family support. Participants will receive a Leader’s Guide to Building Family Support and some digital tools to help build that family support that every successful Girl Scout troop needs.

Join us for a fun and interactive workshop where you will discover what is necessary to create an amazing Girl Scout Silver Award Take Action project. Learn how to identify a community need and how to address that need by sharing your skills and passions to help make the world a better place! This workshop is not required to achieve your Girl Scout Silver Award. However, it is very useful as it covers important topics like the steps to earn the award and submitting your final report. The workshop is also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the Girl Scout Silver Award. This workshop is for Girl Scouts Cadettes, their parents and their leaders and is only for Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont members.
Get ready to go for the Gold! During this training, you will learn about the requirements, approval process and helpful tips for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award. Girls will also have the opportunity to brainstorm and receive feedback on their project ideas. This workshop is only for Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont members.

A new year has begun and with a new year comes brand new opportunities! Come out and join the Camp Pisgah staff and learn all about how to set goals for yourself, work on achieving them and be the best you can be! We will also spend time focusing on the importance of mental health and self-care. You’ll leave with new goals and an entire arsenal of ideas on how to best take care of and love yourself for who you are!
Girls will master maintenance tips that keep a car in top form, driving skills that will help them rule the road safely and learn how to take care of a car. Girl Scouts who attend this in-person event will earn the Senior Car Care badge.

Experience a faith journey through exploration of the Girl Scout Law and teachings from your faith. All religious backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to participate. Girls can earn this national pin each year.

Participants will receive some digital handouts, discover interactive activities to teach girls about the pin and understand World Pin ceremonies to use with troops or service units.
VIRTUAL: New Leader Enrichment - Daisy Badge Overview Monday, January 24 7 - 8 p.m. V New Leader Enrichment offers an opportunity for new leaders to ask questions, talk about aspects of a successful troop year and learn more about Girl Scouting. We will go over Daisy badges and talk about what setting up a Daisy year looks like.

First Aid/CPR Saturday, January 29 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Hickory United Way Office AV Girl Scouts require a certified First Aider for many activities. Learn skills to respond in an emergency and practice adult and child CPR and First Aid skills. Get your First Aid and CPR certification by completing this class.

VIRTUAL: Volunteer-inTraining (VIT) Saturday, February 5 Noon - 2 p.m. SA Volunteers-in-Training (VIT) are girls who have completed 9th grade who would like to mentor a Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Cadette group outside of the camp experience (girls in 10th-12th grade are eligible for this award). The skills learned are also applicable to everyday life and will help girls become confident, effective leaders in everything they do. Becoming a Volunteer-in-Training is also a great résumé booster for girls and sets them up for success when going for their Gold!

World Thinking Day is a way to celebrate being part of the diverse global sisterhood that is Girl Guides and Girl Scouts by doing the same activities around a shared theme with girls all over the world. Join us in this session as we discuss the 2022 World Thinking Day theme “Our World, Our Equal Future: The Environment and Gender Equality.”

It’s up to you and your friends to save Camp Pisgah! Be sure to also attend the in-person session of this workshop at Camp Pisgah on February 12.

VIRTUAL: Highest Awards Brainstorming Session Thursday, February 17 4 - 5 p.m. JCSAV Have you attended a Girl Scout Bronze, Silver or Gold Award training and not sure where to start? Are you in the brainstorming phase and want to make sure your project idea meets the mark? Still have lingering questions about the process? VIRTUAL: Monday Mini - Flag Ceremonies Monday, February 21 7 - 8 p.m. V We honor our country’s flag at a flag ceremony and show that we are proud citizens of the United States of America. Girl Scout flag ceremonies are a traditional part of our program and have a dignity that makes us feel proud to take part in them. The flag ceremony is the only Girl Scout ceremony that has specific rules that must be followed. Flag retirement will also be discussed. Join us in an interactive conversation, learn some activities that you can use with your girls to help them plan and carry out a variety of flag ceremonies and flag etiquette.

We will talk about the Girl Scout birthday. March 12 commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia.

Join us for a fun and interactive workshop where you will discover what is necessary to create an amazing Girl Scout Silver Award Take Action project. Learn how to identify a community need and how to address that need by sharing your skills and passions to help make the world a better place! This workshop is not required to achieve your Girl Scout Silver Award. However, it is very useful as it covers important topics like the steps to earn the award and submitting your final report. The workshop is also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the Girl Scout Silver Award. This workshop is for Girl Scout Cadettes, their parents and their leaders and is only for Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont members.

This course is valuable for volunteers who work with troops and want to help them build independence by learning many useful outdoor skills. It covers tarps, tents and knots. The license is valid for five years.

Weekend of Service Every spring, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont hosts its Weekend of Service, where we encourage all our girls, volunteers and families to do a good turn for someone. The 2022 Weekend of Service will take place April 8-10, 2022, with an emphasis on environmental stewardship. Our goal this year is to have 300 people participate- so get your projects ready!
What does environmental stewardship look like?

Spend the day at camp learning about fire building, Leave No Trace and even take a hike to the original campsite! Girls will earn their Naturalist badge, Outdoor Art badge and Eco badge. Annual Meeting Saturday, April 30 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Gastonia Conference Center DBJCSAVF Annual Meeting is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of our volunteers, network with members, receive important updates and vote on council business. Representation from across the council by both girl and adult members is important. To be a registered voting member, you must be a currently registered Girl Scout, 14 years and older. As a voting member, you will have the opportunity to vote on the slates for Board Officers and Directors and Board Development Committee members. You can also register to attend the event as a non-voting attendee.

This workshop is not required to achieve your Girl Scout Silver Award. However, it is very useful as it covers important topics like the steps to earn the award and submitting your final report. The workshop is also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the Girl Scout Silver Award. Amazing Troop Race Saturday, May 7 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Camp Pisgah (Brevard) DBJCSAV This is the Amazing Race! Does your troop have what it takes? Head out to Camp Pisgah to find out! Compete in challenges, solve puzzles, go on a scavenger hunt and more as you travel across the land of Camp Pisgah to make it to the finish line and win a prize! This is a troop event so troop leaders will be participating with their troops for the duration of the event.
VIRTUAL: Journey Jumpstart: Daisy Between Earth and Sky Saturday, May 7 1 - 5 p.m. D Explore nature and learn how to keep the Earth healthy! Girls will complete all Journey requirements during this session, excluding the Take Action project.
Camp Sunshine is a day event at Camp Ginger Cascades for girls in grades K-5. This program is designed and led by older Girl Scouts who want to share the camp experience with as many girls as they can! Meals and a full schedule of activities are provided.

Do your girls want to be camping All-Stars, adept with saws, hatchets, lanterns, water purification, and building camp furniture from just rope and sticks? If so, you will need to complete the Overnight License and Camp License.
First Aid/CPR Saturday, May 21 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Gastonia Service Center (Gastonia) AV Girl Scouts require a certified First Aider for many activities. Learn skills to respond in an emergency and practice adult and child CPR and First Aid skills. Get your First Aid and CPR certification by completing this class.
