We were last on the Douro in 2017, and everyone agreed it was one of our very best adventures. Our cruise departs from Porto and journeys through the heart of the wine-growing region in the Douro valley. Stops for wine and porttasting sessions along the way are a must! Every night we have a concert featuring our international professional artistes, we add some flamenco-themed dancing, Portuguese Fado entertainments and traditional folk music too! We encourage you to join in and rehearse a semi-staged HMS Pinafore, which we will present after the Gala Dinner.

Your cruise includes all meals from dinner the first evening to breakfast on the final day; complimentary wine or beer with lunch and dinner; all excursions listed in the itinerary; a welcome cocktail reception and gala dinner and entertainment of the quality you will only find on a Theatrical Adventure. You will love this Theatrical Adventure that takes you on a journey through magnificent landscapes. Directors Neil and Oliver will be there to ensure you enjoy a fantastic holiday.. All port fees are included.

What makes a Theatrical Adventures river cruise so extraordinary? The people who bring you the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival every year are the same people behind Theatrical Adventures. The Festival is renowned for its fun and friendliness, and the very same warm welcome awaits every passenger.

There are plenty of opportunities for passengers to get involved too if they wish. Throughout the cruise, guests can rehearse a Gilbert & Sullivan opera with our musical director to perform on the final night. And you don’t need to be Pavorotti to join in!

Theatrical Adventures charter the entire cruise ship and take outstanding opera singers, entertainers and musicians along. There’s even been a full orchestra onboard! And everyone has a common interest. Our guests love music, and they love to travel. So, every trip is just like one big house party.

Many of our guests may be single travellers, but they are never alone, and lifelong friendships have blossomed throughout the years (plus a couple of marriages too). And we do NOT charge single supplements on many of our twin cabins so single adventurers can enjoy the same holiday without unreasonable and sometimes excessive additional costs.
