ITINERARY Thursday November 15th You can fly or travel by Eurostar to join our Theatrical Adventure “Voyage of Musical Discovery…” in Amsterdam. We set sail at 4pm.

Friday November 16th Arrive Düsseldorf at 10.00am for a tour of this lifestyle metropolis on the Rhine boasting dozens of museums and art galleries.

Departs 5pm.

Saturday November 17th The 2000 year old town of KOBLENZ is in Germany’s most beautiful “corner”, situated in the picturesque landscape of the Rhine and Moselle. On then to the dramatic RHINE GORGE, the most beautiful stretch of river. Here, ancient castles stand sentry on lofty cliffs rising 400 feet above the waters. Cruise past the legendary rock of the Lorelei. Arrive in Rüdesheim. Visit the amazing “Siegfried Mechanical Music Instruments Museum.” It really is worth the visit. We depart after midnight Sunday November 18th Arrive in Speyer in full view of the imposing Romanesque cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 11th century. The resting place of eight German monarchs.

Monday November 19th Situated on the border of France and Germany, Strasbourg is the seat of the Council of Europe and European Parliament. Your guided tour visits the Gothic Cathedral as well as the magical La Petite France.

Tuesday November 20th Worms is locked in a 3-way battle with the cities of Cologne and Trier for the title of Oldest City in Germany. Next stop is MAINZ, with “civilized” origins dating back to around 38 BC. After lunch, travel to Heidelberg, home to the oldest university in Germany. Visit the imposing ruins of HEIDELBERG CASTLE, towering magnificently over the city and among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps.

Wednesday November 21st Cologne straddles both sides of the Rhine, and is known for its soaring, twin-steepled gothic cathedral whose construction began in 1248 and was only completed in 1880. The Old Town abounds with cafés, shops, and taverns.

Tuesday November 13th Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning back in Amsterdam.

Then it is time to transfer back to the airport or your Eurostar connection home at the end of another fantastic Theatrical Adventure.

THE RHINE The Rhine is one of the longest and most important rivers in Europe. It runs for over 766 miles from its source in the Swiss Alps (in Switzerland), issuing from the Rheinwaldhorn Glacier 3,353m above sea level.

Although it begins as a small stream it soon gathers speed and volume on its way to Lake Constance, a source of drinking water for large parts of southern Germany. As it continues on its way to the North sea, the Rhine flows over the famous Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen and through the industrial town of Basel. There it becomes a major transport route through Europe; transporting goods and raw materials by ship. It is now a wide river.

As the Rhine enters Germany it becomes the border between Germany and France.

Through the Rhine Gorge the landscape changes again as the river narrows to form a steep sided-valley filled with vineyards and castles overlooking the river. Finally the Rhine reaches the Netherlands , a completely flat country, where it joins several other rivers on its final journey to Rotterdam and the sea.

THE WEATHER Good News - The Rheingau (Rhine river valley) is the second warmest place in Germany. In fact October leading into November can be one of the most agreeable months of the year with many sunny days and little rain.
