About Us Going to camp is a big decision, now more than ever. At either of our Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore day camps, Camp Amity Acres (Waretown) or Camp Sacajawea (Farmingdale), you can feel at ease, knowing your daughter is well cared for, happy, learning and exploring the great outdoors! She’ll have the time of her life discovering the wonders of nature, trying new things, making friends and much more.

Our Mission

Girl Scout Promise

Girl Scouts builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Both of our camps provide outdoor activities and traditional summer camp experiences in a supportive and encouraging environment. Our camps give girls the space to discover a strong sense of self, gain practical life skills, become resourceful problem solvers, and cultivate healthy relationships. Girl Scout camp will always be a place where girls can: • Explore the great outdoors • Grow by trying new things • Build her problem-solving skills • Make awesome new friends • Be a leader

On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea is open to all girls, ages 3-15, and their sibling brothers, ages 3-12, for an unforgettable summer. You don’t have to be a Girl Scout to join the fun, so bring a friend! For information about camp or to learn about how to join, volunteer, partner or donate to Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, visit GSFun.org or call (800) 785-2090.

Health & Safety Safety is our top priority at camp. We are proud to be able to say that in the past 2 years we ran successful, COVID-free camp sessions at both of our facilities. We made accommodations that ensured the health and well-being of all campers, families, and staff. We know that children need camp now more than ever and we accomplished all of these things while upholding our standards of quality care and outdoor fun! • Our staff completed courses and took part in webinars that were offered by the American Camp Association and other organizations that focused on keeping all campers safe during the summer. • We limit the size of our units to optimize social distancing practices while keeping quality fun! • Drop-off is carpool-line style. Upon arrival, we ask families to complete a brief health survey and take temperatures of campers. Campers sanitize their hands before they enter camp. • A group (unit) will travel together for their activities and stay together all week and will not co-mingle with other cohorts. Campers sanitize their hands after each activity. • All equipment and areas are sanitized after each use. • Pick-up is structured so adults will stay in their cars and have their campers brought to them. • If your camper is ill or injured and needs to be sent home, you will be called and are required to make arrangements for your child to be picked up in a reasonable amount of time. • If a child is ill, shows flu-like symptoms, has a fever or is vomiting, the camper MUST be picked up and cannot return to camp until she/he is symptom-free for 72 hours without medication.

Daily Activities: Each camp day includes swimming, a visit to our trading post to purchase ice cream and a selection of additional activities. Additional activities throughout the week include: • Adventure Elements: Trust and teamwork are essential in life. Throughout our programming activities, we foster an environment that showcases the importance of working together in a fun and challenging way. Activity areas include a combination of zipline, climbing wall, ropes, and team-building based on age progression. • Archery: Bullseye! With the help of a certified instructor, campers will get the opportunity to learn how to use a bow and improve their shooting technique safely. • Arts & Crafts: A variety of artistic mediums are explored at camp. Young artists also have the chance to paint, draw and complete classic camp crafts. • Boating: Under the supervision of trained specialists, campers learn how to boat and canoe safely as they paddle or row across the lake. • Girl Scout Badges: Exclusive to Girl Scout Camp! Girls in kindergarten through eighth grade can earn Girl Scout badges/petals to place on their uniforms and wear all year round. These badges are exclusive to basic camp sessions. All badges are listed on our activity grid and can be purchased through our registration portal. • Nature Exploration: Through hands-on interactive learning activities campers discover the unique eco-system of camp and the plants and animals that inhabit it. • Swimming: Take a dip in our Cedar Lake at Camp Amity Acres or make a splash in our pool at Camp Sacajawea! Every day, our campers have the opportunity to cool off while playing with their friends or swimming on their own.

After Camp Adventures: What better way to keep the magic of camp going than staying after for more themed adventures and fun! We are excited to be reintroducing evening campfires and overnight activities this 2022 season. A final determination regarding these and additional activities will be made in the spring. Registration is required for all/any After Camp Adventures. Campfire Every week, campers are welcome to stay after for more themed activities, and swimming weather permitting (Thursday at Camp Amity Acres, and Wednesday at Camp Sacajawea). Dinner is then served, followed by an end to the evening with a not-so-traditional campfire (weather permitting), filled with music, dancing, laughter and more! Parents are responsible for picking up campers at 8:00pm. One-Night Overnight Girls entering grade four and older can sleep over during weeks 2-8. Activities, campfire, and dinner are included as well as breakfast and lunch the following day. Girls will explore the wonder of camp under the stars!

6 CAMP AMITY ACRES | CAMP SACAJAWEA

Family Campfire Families are welcome to join their campers for dinner and all the excitement of the campfire portion of the evening, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm during select weeks. Registration for dinner guests is required. • Camp Amity Acres, Week 2 and Week 9 • Camp Sacajawea, Week 4 and Week 8

Extended Care: Convenient extended child care is available for all campers. Before Care begins at 7:00 a.m. and After Care is offered until 6:00 pm. Before and After Care both include a pre-packaged snack and your camper will participate in small/individual activities. Please be mindful this is separate to an After Camp Adventure. To ensure the safest experience, campers will be divided by family units. Enrollment is limited. Please plan ahead and pre-register if possible. Full-week and daily options are available.

Leadership Opportunities Girl Scout Camp is where girls thrive in the great outdoors, take on new challenges and gain leadership skills that last a lifetime. Girls who grew up at either of the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore day camps enjoy sharing their love of camp with the younger girls who follow in their footsteps. Leadership opportunities for these girls are available during specific weeks of camp. Camp Program Aide (CPA) Training: Girls entering eighth grade and above, can take part in our two-week Camp Program Aide Training which is the first step in bridging the gap from being a camper to becoming a future counselor. This is a progression based experience that prepares girls for roles in youth leadership in and outside of camp. Girls will explore what it means to be a leader and learn more about themselves in the process. They will learn outdoor skills, problem solving, and conflict resolution. There is a strong emphasis on the learn-by doing philosophy under the supervision of our experienced staff. Upon successful completion of CPA training, girls may be invited to volunteer for up to two CPA Mentorship weeks and receive their Program Aide Pin. • Camp Amity Acres, Week 4 & 5: July 11-15 and 18-22, 2022 • Camp Sacajawea, Week 4 & 5: July 11-15 and 18-22, 2022 CPA Mentorship (Week 1-9): Our CPA Mentorship program gives girls who have completed CPA training the opportunity to share their leadership and outdoor skills with younger campers under the guidance of experienced camp staff. CPA Specialization: After successful completion of the CPA Leadership Training girls have the option of learning specialized skills in a particular specialty area. Girls will shadow senior staff to learn more about the specialized camp activities (ie. archery, aquatics, adventure elements, environmental nature, and arts & crafts) and the requirements necessary to work in these areas. • Camp Amity Acres, Week 7: August 1-5, 2022 • Camp Sacajawea, Week 6: July 25-29, 2022

Cultivate your Girl Scout Power: Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors are invited to join us for a week of exploring where food comes from, tracing the carbon footprint of each meal, and finding out how to reduce that footprint. Other program activities include: planting crops and cultivating a garden, earning the Sow What Journey Award, taking part in a Gold Award workshop, and receiving guidance on how to begin a Gold Award project. This program includes the Sow What Journey Book and badge. • Camp Amity Acres, Week 3: July 5-8, 2022 • Camp Sacajawea, Week 3: July 5-8, 2022
