2010-2011 ANNUAL REPORT
MOVING FORWARD The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland is committed to achieving this mission and helping girls and young women grow into strong, capable leaders. To ensure all of our council resources are clearly focused on achieving our mission, Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland completed a year-long Strategic Learning process in 2011. The results of this work will drive our council’s work for the next three years. All of our resources will be directed toward achieving our five Strategic Priorities: consistent delivery of services, funding, talent management, marketing and communications, and organizational systems. Our efforts are already working. In 2011, 17,398 girls participated in the Girl Scout program in our council, a more than 17% increase from 2010 and the third highest membership increase in the nation. We are most proud when these girls and volunteers across the council put our mission into action. Communities in all corners of our council were affected by devastating weather events in 2011. Our Girl Scouts were ready to assist wherever they could, by helping their neighbors and communities rebuild. As they discovered, connected, and took action, they demonstrated courage, confidence, and character - key qualities to the Girl Scout mission. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting in the United States, and Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland is moving forward...There’s never been a better time to be a Girl Scout, a volunteer, or a friend to Girl Scouting. We thank everyone who has helped make our work with girls possible and invite you to join us as we celebrate 2012 as the Year of the Girl.
“To me, Girl Scouts is a group of willing, delightful girls proud of what they do. Each and every day we learn something new and astonishing. We are always willing to help others in need and keep sad ones happy. To me, Girl Scouts is like a proud helping school always eager to make a difference or change. I love Girl Scouts and everything we do. It is surprising, fun, and friendly. Every single change we made I think is just amazing. Better yet, we get to do it with friends.”
