Project Plant-It

Calling all Girl Scout families—the planet needs your help! Join forces with your family this Earth Day to help save Planet Earth and participate in Project Plant-It. Girl Scouts can change the world, one tree at a time. This new council-wide service project allows girls, and their families, to not only get outdoors and give back to their community, but encourages girls to get involved in planet conservation. Every Girl Scout who contributes to Project Plant-It also earns a free custom patch! How can your Girl Scout earn this patch? All she has to do is plant a tree! Girl Scouts can participate in Project Plant-It as an individual, with her troop, or even her family! Submit a photo to the Project Plant-It Report Form and her patch will be sent to the address provided! Project Plant-It begins on Earth Day, April 22, and the deadline for submitting reports is September 30, 2021.

Rules · At least one photo must be submitted. · Only one patch per Girl Scout membership. · All entries must be submitted by September 30, 2021. · Troops or groups may submit a single report for the group. · One address is needed; all patches will be sent to that address.

Healthy & Safe

s e r u t n e v d A p m a C Check-In and Check-Out Process We ask that all campers and staff members arrive to camp healthy, well, and masked! We are re-vamping our check-in process this year as a part of our additional health and safety practices. Check in will be similar to a drive - thru experience where campers will be driven through stations for health screening and luggage drop-off before saying a quick goodbye in the car and hopping out to join in on the fun! For check-out, families will pick-up their camper, camper’s luggage, and any memorabilia from camp (arts and crafts, trading post items, etc.) at different stations along a designated pick-up route.

Health History and Health Screening We are continuing to require the completion of a pre-camp Health History form each camper and staff. New this year, this form will be available digitally to complete prior before arrival at camp. This will allow our Camp Health Team to review the information ahead of time, making the check-in process even more efficient. At Health Screening, our Camp Health Team members will will take the camper’s temperature and inspect child for visible symptoms of COVID-19 in addition to typical health screening measures.

Complete health and safety procedures will be released at a later date. This will include our response plan and procedures should suspected or confirmed communicable disease case occur at camp. More information is available now in our Summer Camp Family Handbook, available on our website.

Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland

44

Camp Modifications Our goal is to continue to offer a traditional camp experience while staying safe this summer. There will be modifications made to camp, but we will try our best to balance typical camp activities, programming, and traditions with the important task of communicable disease prevention—some modifications include cohorting, face masks, symptom screening, and modified sleeping and eating arrangements. Cohorting refers to the practice of isolating multiple individuals together as a group and helps to minimize the risk of disease spread and adverse health outcomes. At resident camp this summer, each unit will be considered a cohort—moving around camp together, not mixing with any other cohort for camp activities like swimming or meals. Face Masks will be required of campers, staff members, and families during drop-off and pickup. We ask that campers bring multiple masks to wear throughout their time at camp. We will be

able to provide disposable masks to campers when needed. Masks will be required at all times except when eating, sleeping, during water activities, and exertional outdoor activities in which 6 feet of distance can be maintained. Symptom Screening will be implemented during the check-in process and twicedaily throughout your camper’s session, and will consist asking all campers and staff if they feel well and healthy, taking temperatures to ensure there is no fever, and screening for related symptoms

45

such as chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell, and more. Sleeping Arrangements. Cabin capacity has been reduced by 50%. Campers will be sleeping in a head-to-toe fashion to maintain physical distance. Mealtime. Campers and staff members will remain with their cohort group during mealtimes. Eating schedules will be modified for staggering and other measures to allow for disinfection between different cohort use.
