TEAM Challenge
Troop Camping
Discover the excitement of the High Ropes Challenge Courses as you climb ropes, cables, and trees. You’ll stretch your comfort zone and traverse elements such as the Postman’s Walk, Floating Islands, or the zip line (each course has different elements). You’ll test your own limits and see if you can handle the heights. You’ll get to be on teams and compete in fun and exciting challenges while on the course. Be prepared to bring your game face!
If your troop is ready to go camping but needs a bit of “firsttimer” help, then make this your destination. We’ll handle all of the planning and leading for the weekend. Zombie Survival Day
There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for. Our catchy title, Zombie Survival, is just code for emergency preparedness. Our goal is to teach you a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency. So, you will come out and test your survival skills to see if you have what it takes to resist and defeat a zombie army! Try your hand at tasks like finding and creating shelter, identifying edible plants, and collecting and guarding supplies. Develop additional survival skills such as self-defense, archery, water filtering, camouflage course navigation, and, most importantly, rallying and leading other survivors to safety and creating an organized, safe new community. Bring your friends—if you want ‘em to survive!—and get ready to test your bravery, brains, strength, and creativity as you practice for the Girl Scout emergency! The day will be full of events that tie to the It’s Your Story—Tell It and It’s Your Planet— Change It Journeys.
We hope you enjoyed selling Girl Scout Cookies, and eating some too! Troops had booths at local businesses, drive-up booths, Cookie Chefs events, and some great rallies to help you learn the 5 skills related to the Girl Scout Cookie Program. If you haven’t received your card by the end of June, please ask your leader to contact the product program specialist in your area. There are some great events, camp, and shop items you can use your Girl Scout Cookie Credit gift card to purchase!

The web app exactly mirrors the existing paper process and is available online. The web app automatically informs councils of the project’s status and submits a request for approval directly to the applicant’s council when the project is completed. Check it out at www.girlscouts.org/mygoldaward or you can be linked directly to the app by visiting www. girlscoutsmoheartland.org then by clicking on Highest Awards under the “For Girls” tab. All girls that complete their Gold Award are honored at the Young Women of Distinction luncheon and ceremony. HER STORY: LAURA INGALLS WILDER patch
Recipe for Hard Tack Ingredients: 2 cups of flour 3 /4 cup water 3 /4 teaspoon of salt (optional) 1.
Mix all the ingredients into a dough and press onto a cookie sheet to a thickness of ½ inch. 2. Bake in a preheated oven at 400⁰ F for half an hour. Don’t cut now! 3. Remove from oven, and now cut dough into 3-inch squares, and punch four rows of holes, four holes per row into the dough (a fork works nicely). 4. Flip the crackers and return to the oven for another half hour.
GIRL SCOUT VOLUNTEER DAY
By completing 3 discover, 1 connect, and 1 take action activities, you can earn this new Her Story patch! This patch program encourages you to think about the past. By exploring her story, you can learn about yourself and reflect on what stories you are making today, tomorrow, and in the future. It also ties in with the It’s Your Story – Tell It! Journey series. For example, making hard tack is a sample activity from the patch program. Laura’s family might have used this old recipe. Hard tack was a popular food when traveling in the 1800s because it required easy-to-find ingredients and it did not spoil easily.
leader appreciation
(often known as Leader’s Day) is a day set aside to say “thank you” to troop leaders and all those other Girl Scout volunteers who help guide Be sure to thank your troop leaders! you on your Girl Scout adventures. It takes place every year on April 22. These adults do a LOT for you—why don’t you find a way to show them how much you care? It could be simply saying thank you with a card or letter. It could be a gift of homemade brownies, or signs in their yard saying thank you. Each girl or troop could find a way to honor their own leaders, but wouldn’t it be fantastic if the troops worked together to make a big splash and say thank you to all the volunteers in your community? Of course, GSMH retail shops have lots of nice gifts for leaders and volunteers too!
