What’s a Safe Space?
A safe space is where girls feel they can be themselves, without explanation or judgment. As a volunteer, the environment you create is just as important as the activities girls do; it’s the key to developing the sort of group that girls want to be part of! Cultivate a space where confidentiality is respected, and girls can express their true selves.

Pride Month
June is LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer) Pride Month, an annual celebration of the achievements, impact, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community in the United States. In June we also commemorate the Stonewall uprising which marks the beginning of a movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and inst LGBTQ+ s Girl Scouts lue diversity d inclusion.

Make rainbow flags to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Create your own painting or drawing in the style of an American LGBTQ artist. Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, and Keith Haring are just a few LGBTQ+ artists with iconic styles. Find an artist you like and try creating something the way they might!

Watch Pride: The Story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag
Read Aloud Picture Book on YouTube for free and learn about the history of the rainbow flag.
Read a children’s book featuring LGBTQ+ characters. Here are a few recommendations: Love Makes a Family by Sophie Beer, Stonewall: A Building, an Uprising, a Revolution by Rob Sanders, I am Billie Jean King by Brad Meltzer, I Am Jazz by Jessica Herthel and Jazz Jennings or find one on your own.

There will be activities and entertainment for people of all ages, ensuring a fun time for the whole family. From face painting and balloon art to live performances and there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Everyone is welcome on this casual cruise — so bring your family, coworkers, neighbors, and friends. Plus, we'll be handing out lots of tasty snacks, drinks, and free goodies for you and your bike (while supplies last) so don’t miss out! Helmets are required, and lights and hydration are recommended.
