Welcome to
myGSOH Through Girl Scouts, you can do anything! The activities in this guide are designed just for girls like you. You can explore what you’re passionate about, try new things, and test yourself. Use these tips and tricks to help you plan for a year of unleashing your inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™.
Look through the guide on your own, selecting the program activities that interest you. You don’t have to attend all program events with your troop. Many of the events are perfect for you to attend on your own! Highlight, circle, or sticky note the activities you are interested in and share them with your parents/caregivers.
Create a budget for the year that matches your troop’s plan. Check out gsoh.org/cookies for more information about the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Be a #cookieboss and use the money you earn to pay for all that you do in Girl Scouting: from fun program activities to camp to paying for your annual membership.
Register for fun program activities! Create your plan for the year on your own and with your troop. You can also find out more about special Girl Scout dates, program ideas, and receive additional support by following us on social media:
/GirlScoutsOH
Discuss which Girl Scout Journeys and badges you and your troop are interested in earning.
For council sponsored events, check out page 5 for registration procedures. For community sponsored events, see the event description for details. Register quickly to reserve your spot!
Attend the activities you and your troop register for and debrief afterward. As a troop or on your own, reflect on your experience and use your observations to make decisions about future events. Share your photos with us on social media – we love seeing you and your friends participating in fun adventures!
If you are a Girl Scout in grade four or above, you may want to create a longer-term plan to help you earn higher awards. Use the Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting to help you make decisions.
Look for program activities that compliment your troop’s plan. Most activities in this guide will help complete steps toward earning a badge or award.

Start your day off right by laying out your clothes the night before. Check the weather report. Will it rain, be warm, or be cold? Choose the right clothes so you will be comfortable in the weather. Organize your clothes! Make your clothes easier to find. Sort your closet or dresser by color or by item type (all dresses together, T-shirts, sweaters, jeans, etc.) Donate clothes that you don’t wear anymore or that don’t fit. Be the family grocery helper! Work with your family to make a grocery list. Plan out your meals for the next two weeks. What do you need to buy and what do you already have? Help others get organized! With their permission, help a relative, friend, or family member get organized. Maybe you can help them organize a pantry, garage, or bedroom. Talk about how being organized makes you feel.

These are the highest honors a Girl Scout can earn. In the process, she changes the world forever.
Service vs. Action: What’s the Difference?
Girl Scouts often do community service, and Take Action within their projects. Both kinds of projects help communities in different ways. What’s the difference?
Direct and immediate service changes something right now. Longer-lasting action gets at the root cause of issues. Take Action projects, like you complete for the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, address the root cause of an issue and come up with sustainable, longer-lasting solutions. These projects make your community a better place for more people for a much longer time. Sometimes, service and action just naturally blend together into one sustainable effort. As a Girl Scout, you use both service and action to live out the Girl Scout Law and change the world!
Bronze Award The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Junior can achieve. Together with her Girl Scout sisters, she will explore her community, make a plan, and take action to make a change and spread the word to others.
Silver Award The Girl Scout Silver Award—the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade can earn—recognizes girls who have identified an issue, created a plan to address it, and took action and made a positive impact in their community.
