S DAY CAM P VOL UNT EER OPP ORT UNI TIE
Are you interested in providing girls with their first, exciting outdoor experience with Girl Scouts? Do you love nature and want to make an impact, while also creating fun memories? Then volunteering at day camp may just be your thing! We depend on dedicated volunteers to help us create and deliver nine successful, fun-filled weeks of day camp each year. The number of girls who can be accepted for camp is tied directly to the number of adults who volunteer. So, we ask that you, or anyone else you know who may be interested, to please consider volunteering at day camp. With your help, this summer is going to be a blast with memories and laughs to last a lifetime!
Ben efit s: • The opportunity to make lifelong friends and memories you’ll talk about for years! • Guaranteed placement in the day camp of your choice. • One fee waiver to be given to any relative who is currently a registered Girl Scout. Preschool and boy programs are available at most camps for a nominal cost.
Gir ls are wa itin g for you !
Please sign-up by Friday, March 13, 2015. This lets us know how many girls we can accommodate when planning for each camp.
To apply, you’ll need to complete the following: • Day Camp Volunteer Position Request Form • Volunteer Application for Service in Girl Scouting* *If you have previously completed the Volunteer Application for Service in Girl Scouting and are an active volunteer, you only need to complete the Day Camp Volunteer Position Request Form. Once approved as a volunteer, there are additional day camp training requirements. Please contact the camp director for details.

CAMP
INF ORM ATI ON FOR GIR LS IN GRA DES K-6 Day camp is a place where girls are encouraged to try new experiences, learn basic outdoor skills, and make new friends. Our aim is for each and every girl to have a positive camp experience as she becomes more comfortable with the outdoors and in her own abilities and sense of self.
Day camp will be just the beginning of your outdoor experience with Girl Scouts. Girls will discover nature, learn flag ceremonies, do kapers (camp chores), cook outdoors, spend time with PAs (teen mentors), make crafts, go creeking, and much more through a five-day session held Monday–Friday, typically between 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
At day cam p, exp ect to: • • • • •
Have fun outside! Share in activities and chores with a new group of friends. Learn some basic outdoor cooking skills. Make new friends. Make decisions and plans with other girls and adults.
• • •
See spiders, swat mosquitoes, do some hiking, and learn to spot poison ivy! Learn some new camp songs. Rough it. Day camp sites are often rustic.*
*Some sites have latrines (outhouses, so no flushing!) and, at some, we have to put up our own shelters.
