How did you find this unusual combination?

Do you see similarities between your work as a florist and as a ski patroller?

My first job at the Gstaad Palace was only parttime. To fill the gap, I asked the mountain railways if they had a suitable position for me. They did, and I worked two seasons in the rescue centre at the mountain railways. This was an office job, and I soon realised that I would rather work outside in the snow with the guests. So, I trained as a ski patroller. The combination is perfect!

The only similarity is that I work for our guests in both places. But I find the totally different types of work exciting. I love both of them. What do you love about floristry and ski patrolling? Floristry is very creative. I can make my own ideas come real. I am fascinated by the colours, shapes, and diversity of flowers, and what the power they have. It’s nice to create a loving atmosphere in a room with my designs. As for the ski patrol, I like working outside in the snow and the variety of tasks.

Hauser & Wirth in Gstaad Founded in 1992 in Zurich, the leading international art gallery has expanded over the past 29 years to include outposts in 13 locations globally, including here in Gstaad.
