OUR JOURNEY AT THE GSTAAD PALACE “THE FAMILY SPIRIT IS VERY MUCH ALIVE”

eon and Mateo are training to be chefs, while Julie, Thabea, Chiara, Kaspar and Leonardo are commercial apprentices. We’ve asked our youngest team members what it’s like to start their career at the Gstaad Palace.

What do you miss in Gstaad? Some of us have grown up in the region, others just fell in love with the place. But we’d all love to have a relaxed pub or a bar to hang out. Better train and bus connections are on the list, too. And maybe an e-bike sharing service so we can get around easier.

Why did you choose the hospitality industry? Hospitality gives us the opportunity to work around the world. We all love to travel, speak several languages, and make sure our guests get to enjoy themselves. Working where others are vacationing creates a great atmosphere among the team as well.

Why the Gstaad Palace? It’s a large hotel with a great reputation. There are many opportunities here. The apprentice chefs get to work in different restaurants, each with their own menu. The commercial apprentices change department every six months. This way, we get familiar with almost all areas of the hotel. Plus, our teams are very diverse. We work with people from many cultures. Yet, the family spirit is very much alive.
