Assistant Director of Occupancy General Description: Incumbent will be responsible for leading the housing assignment process for current and prospective students for the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses for a 5700 bed residential population. Manages occupancy within residence halls to meet projections and budgetary goals. Serves as the contact person for data and reports generated by StarRez housing management system to other campus offices and departments. This position will be based on the Statesboro Campus will some regular travel needs to the Armstrong Campus. This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA’s are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus, and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

Master’s Degree Seven (7) or more years of related work experience Experience in occupancy management and/or residential operations Experience in utilizing StarRez as a housing information management tool Experience in structured query language (SQL) Consistently exhibit engaging customer service Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness by working well with diverse populations Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills Demonstrate appropriate organizational skills as required for specific position

Proposed Salary Range (final salary to be determined by selected candidate’s experiences): $44,400 - $62,000

Duties and Responsibilities: •

Manages the processing of all housing applications, cancellations, housing assignments, room changes, and housing fee assessment in StarRez and the overall records management of a housing database for a 5,700 bed residential campus. Implements all phases of student housing renewals, waitlist management, early arrival, and break housing processes. Supervises, trains, and evaluates 3 full-time administrative processing staff and undergraduate student workers as needed. Provides training an indirect supervision to residence education staff in the management of housing administrative operations. Oversees front desk operations of the central housing office on the Statesboro Campus. Participates in Office of Admissions recruitment events including the presentation of housing information during open sessions. Partners with campus offices regarding communication of housing deadlines, cancellations, status updates, and confirmation of enrollment status. Directs the accurate billing, adjustments, and proration of housing charges placed on student accounts resulting in approximately $40 million in housing fees each year. Support University Housing projects and initiatives including participation in departmental committees, hiring and training processes, policy development, and reporting metrics. Actively participates in Operation Move-In planning committee to ensure communication and processes are established for student arrival to residence halls. Coordinates the electronic correspondence with students through StarRez database including the marketing outreach, assignment communication, and overall communication plan of over 7,500 student housing applications and assignments annually across all application terms. Assists in the development of strategic marketing initiatives associated with residential learning communities. Manages the First Year Live on Requirement process for first year student compliance with the university First Year Live on Requirement. Serves as first level appeals officer for contract cancellation appeals.


Partners with campus offices regarding housing assignments of special populations (i.e. Athletics, University Honors College, and International Student Admissions & Programs). Review housing accommodation approvals from the Student Accessibility Resource Center to determine proper housing assignments ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. Responsible for the creation, modification, and usage of reporting tools in StarRez and other university resources to provide data to other offices to assist with their operations (Dining Plan Manager, PO Box Assignments, University Police, etc).

Other Responsibilities ● Serving on University Housing committees ● Potential to serve on divisional or institutional committees. ● Serving as essential personnel and maintaining availability outside of normal business hours, as needed. ● Presenting or attending appropriate in-service programs and/or conferences for continued professional development. ● Performing other duties as assigned by University Housing leadership.
