24-Hour Quiet Hours In an effort to support your academic efforts, University Housing issues a 24-hour quiet period at the end of each semester starting on the last day of class through closing. Mandatory quiet hours will begin at midnight on Friday, May 3 and will end at noon on Sunday, May 12. Housing staff will enforce these hours, and violation of this policy may result in a referral to Student Conduct. Please take advantage and be respectful of this time. Good luck on finals

What to do Before Leaving As part of the move-out process, it is important to work with your roommates to ensure the communal areas in your apartment/suite will be left in good condition at move-out. University Housing encourages you and your roommates to complete a Resident Communal Responsibility Form to effectively communicate with one another and with housing on who is responsible for what in the communal areas. Your RA and area office (Windward Commons front desk or the Housing office) will have copies of these forms for your convenience. Do not forget to turn in the form to your area office before they begin closing inspections of your apartment/suite. University Housing also encourages students to inform University Housing and/or maintenance about any potential damages that have happened while residing in the room. To inform housing staff, please make an appointment with your Graduate Resident Directors. To inform maintenance, please complete a maintenance request (Click Here). Some damages may result in damage fees being assessed to your student account.

Moving Out Procedures Standard vs Express Move-Out ●

Standard Move-Out Inspection (Recommended): If you want to participate in a standard move-out inspection, you will need to sign up for an appointment with a resident assistant at your area office. This is the best option for students who want to be present during the move-out inspection so that they can explain any items that could receive fines. Please note that any damage billing discussion during the standard move-out is an estimate and could include additional charges upon further inspections. Students wishing to do a standard move-out are recommended to sign up no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd. Standard move-out times may vary between Windward and the apartment communities. Please see additional information from your graduate Resident Director or Resident Advisor.

Express Move-Out: In an express move out, you are provided with more flexibility on your departure time. However, with this option you forfeit your ability to contest damage charges. This option is only recommended in necessary situations. When able, please complete the standard process. Once you have removed all belongings from your space, come to your area office to complete an express move out envelope and turn in your keys. Your RA will re-enter your space after all occupants have moved out to complete a room inspection. If you are an apartment community resident and you plan on leaving between the hours of midnight and 9 a.m., please complete your checkout at Windward Commons. They are open 24-7!

Don't forget to turn in your keys and properly check out to avoid closing fines on your student account! Keys not turned in or left in a student's room will result in closing fines.

Don’t lose momentum as you push through finals! Remember to study hard, and summer will be here before you know it. Here are some finals tips: ● Study your weakest subject first. Why? You’ll be fresher and better able to deal with difficult areas. ● Eat well, and get a good night’s sleep. Finals week can be stressful, and being hungry and tired will not be beneficial. ● Make your study periods short and frequent, and give yourself some study breaks.

Thank you to all students who attended the events during #MyHallStory week. We hope you enjoyed events such as the Roommate Game Show, Block Party, and Cash Cart!

As a reminder, 24-hour quiet hours will begin at midnight on Friday, May 3 and will go until noon on Sunday, May 12. Housing staff will be enforcing quiet hours, so please keep this in mind during this time.
