For more than 110 years, Girl Scouts have discovered, explored, and strengthened their outdoor skills and commitment to environmental stewardship through camp programs. Guided by supportive adults and peers, Girl Scouts discover the wonders of nature, experience the thrill of adventure, and challenge themselves and one another to reach new heights! Girl Scouts’ national outdoor programming features a variety of fun, challenging, and experiential activities that empower members as they develop attitudes, skills, and behaviors essential to effective leadership in the outdoors:
Outdoor Competence
Girl Scouts engage safely and responsibly in a range of outdoor activities (e.g., practicing Leave No Trace and knowing what to bring to be prepared in the outdoors).
Outdoor Confidence
Girl Scouts have confidence in their outdoor abilities and are willing to try new and challenging outdoor activities.
Outdoor Interest
Girl Scouts have a love of nature and an interest in the natural world.
Environmental Stewardship
Girl Scouts understand how their behaviors impact the environment and what they can do to protect the natural world.
Do you like to meet new people and interact with others who may be different from you?
Do you enjoy staying overnight at a friend’s house?
Can you take care of personal needs, like shampooing and brushing your hair?
Are you willing to try new foods that you haven’t before?
Can you go without televison, video games, a computer, and a phone?
Now add up your score and write it down at the top of the page to reference after you read about the camp sessions!
Less than 15 points
You are ready to try one of our school year programs (minicamps), Family Camps, or Troop Camping.
Take this quiz with a parent or caregiver to help you both decide what kind of outdoor experience is the best fit for your summer! Keep track of your points using the scale, then add up the points and compare your score to our recommendations. Be honest! Also, be aware that these results are just a recommendation. Remember that you and your family know your comfort level best.
Can you make your own bed and keep track of your things?
Are you ready to sleep in a tent or cabin with 4-10 campers, knowing your counselors are in a nearby tent?
Does going on a new adventure make you feel excited?
Can you ask an adult for help when you need something?
15-24 points
Are you excited to go to camp?
You are ready to try overnight camp. Pack your adventurous spirit and we’ll see you this summer! If five days is too much, try a shortened three-day session.
25+ points
You hear the call of overnight camp or must be an experienced camper! It sounds like you’re ready for your favorite camp session.
Camping provides Girl Scouts a rich experience away from home. Camp is a great place for Girl Scouts to unlock their potential, discover the world, and the great outdoor adventures that await them. This unique environment helps your camper develop positive self-esteem, leadership skills, and social skills— all while having the time of their life. The summer camp experience plays a crucial role in shaping Girl Scouts into accomplished and resourceful young adults. In this outdoor setting, Girl Scouts develop a strong sense of self, gain practical life skills, become resourceful problem solvers, and cultivate healthy relationships by living and working together.
Girl Scouts of Utah Camps are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and meet high standards for program design and activities, site and food service, transportation, health and wellness, operation management, and human resources.
Our camp staff are talented, energetic role models. Staff are selected based on both their hard and soft skills as well as their experience in childcare. As part of our values, we are committed to inclusion and diversity on our Girl Scouts of Utah staff team. We actively seek to employ a diverse group of individuals from a variety of different races, religions, socioeconomic statuses, gender identities, and backgrounds. All camp staff members receive intensive training on risk management, program development, Girl Scout program and philosophy, age level characteristics, environmental education, behavior management, and outdoor skills. Additional training is given for adventure programs. All staff members are CPR and first-aid certified.
At Girl Scouts of Utah, we know you want your camper to have a chance for personal development in a safe environment. We also know campers want to have a fun adventure. We work to provide both, by hiring and training qualified staff and offering a top-ranked outdoor experience. Girl Scouts of Utah’s full-time Outdoor Program team is in place to ensure an exceptional experience for your Girl Scout – and peace of mind for you. Meet the Outdoor Program Team in the Camp Orientation Guide online at www.gsutah.org/camp-guide
Camp Cloud Rim sits at an elevation of 9,200 feet near Park City, nestled among the aspen and pine trees on the shores of Lake Brimhall.
Camp Cloud Rim has beautiful facilities including a lodge and shower house, electricity, hot water, and flush toilets. Campers stay in cabins or platform tents with staff located nearby.
A highlight of Camp Cloud Rim is Lake Brimhall where campers can canoe, sail, kayak, and swim. Other activities include pottery, rock climbing, hiking, and backpacking.
We would like to thank The Ruggles Family for making the new high ropes course possible. We know it will be enjoyed for years to come!
Trefoil Ranch is located on 123 acres of ranch country tucked away in Provo Canyon. Trefoil Ranch features a lodge, ranch house, bunkhouse, showers, electricity, hot water, and flush toilets.
Trefoil Ranch is home to our herd of horses, offering unique opportunities to experience our equestrian programs. Campers stay in cabins or platform tents with staff located nearby. Activities include horseback riding instruction, high and low ropes courses, archery, woodworking, hatchet throwing, and hiking.
Girl Scout programming is powered by the Girl Scout Cookie Program through Activity Credits (ACs). Cookie sellers receive ACs to help pay for summer camps, day camps, program activities, Girl Scout membership fees, and items in the Girl Scout Shop. For every 50 packages of cookies (from 50349 boxes), a Girl Scout earns $12.50 in ACs. After 350 boxes, a Girl Scout will receive $15.00 for each additional 50 boxes sold. Each camp or activity indicates the number of packages of cookies to sell to attend that program using ACs. Girl Scouts can work with a supportive adult to use these quantities to help set their cookie-selling goals. Each camp requires a $50 non-refundable deposit in addition to the number of packages sold. To apply ACs to a camp balance, simply bring in or mail the credits to any Girl Scout office with the Program, Event, and Camp Payment Form (found at www.gsutah.org/forms). You also have the option to apply your 2024 AC to your camp balance until ACs have been mailed. You will receive email confirmation once the payment is applied.
This program helps individual campers who are registered Girl Scouts of Utah members and wish to attend Girl Scouts of Utah-sponsored camps or programs but are unable to due to financial restraints. This program is not a reward, nor is it a way to repay volunteer work a caregiver might have done in Girl Scouting. The decision to grant an activity scholarship, and the amount, is based on information provided on the application form. All information is confidential and discussed only by those responsible for allocating money. Applications for an activity scholarship may be submitted after the completion of the initial registration, and a $50 non-refundable deposit is paid. Scholarship requests for summer camp are accepted between March 1 and April 1. Scholarship awards will be applied to camp balances no later than May 1. All applications received after April 1 will only be awarded based on funding available at that time. Apply for activity scholarships at www.gsutah.org/forms.
Camp fees help cover all the expenses associated with our camps such as property maintenance, utilities, insurance, gear, supplies, food, activities, and staff. Our camp fees have seen an increase for summer 2024 due to increased food costs, supply costs, and staff salaries. It is important to us that camp fees are not a barrier to participation. We have developed several ways to help pay for camp, including Activity Credits, tiered pricing, and activity scholarships.
Camp payments are due in full by: Wednesday, May 15, 2024
Tiered pricing makes it possible for all campers to have the same experience, regardless of what their caregiver can afford. Tiered prices are listed with each camp session description and should be selected based on the family’s budget. Girl Scouts of Utah strives to ensure household finances are not a barrier when paying for a camp experience. No financial documentation is required.
Tier One (T1)
The actual cost to run camps: staffing, program supplies, food, and maintenance costs. Tier One pricing is available for Girl Scouts of Utah members, Girl Scout members from other councils, and non-members.
Tier Two (T2)
Partially subsidized cost for families that can pay a little more, but not the actual cost of camp. Tier Two pricing is available for Girl Scouts of Utah members and Girl Scout members from other councils.
Tier Three (T3)
The standard fee that all GSU members are asked to pay. Girl Scouts of Utah subsidizes the entire remainder of the cost. Tier Three pricing is available for Girl Scouts of Utah members only. Activity scholarships are available for Girl Scouts of Utah members if assistance is needed to pay for Tier Three (T3).

Campers in equestrian programs will be grouped according to experience level, and lessons for each group will be geared toward the least-experienced rider. Lessons include riding instruction, stable maintenance, and ground school (learning about the animals and tack and how to care for them). Horseback riding is a sport that requires physical coordination, balance, and the ability to follow directions. Campers in horseback riding programs will hike to the stables for every horse program block, which are located three quarters of a mile uphill from the main camp. For everyone’s safety, participants not following directions from equestrian staff will not be permitted to ride.
Our three-day camps have full-color blocks behind them, while longer camps have white-colored blocks.

Girl Scouts of Utah welcomes families to visit our camp properties during our free open house days. For first-time campers and their families, this is an opportunity to see where campers might sleep, meet the Camp Director and some counselors, check out the dining location, and view some of the program areas. Please note that staff will not be able to confirm sleeping areas for specific programs. Sleeping areas for each program are not solidified until the week before the program.
Girl Scouts of Utah utilizes a drive-thru check-in and check-out process for summer camp. During these times, there is not an opportunity to explore the camp’s grounds beyond where you drop off your camper. If your family would like the opportunity to see more of the property, please register for these free open house opportunities.

It is our goal to provide a positive experience for all individuals who attend our camp programs. Help ensure your camper’s success by contacting us prior to registration regarding your camper and their experience – including disabilities and mental and physical health needs. This allows us the opportunity to discuss and determine appropriate accommodations so they can be successful while at camp. The Outdoor Program Team can also help guide you toward the best programs and locations for your camper.
Your camper may request one buddy online, however, the system does not automatically place them together – that is up to you. If your camper wants to go to camp with a buddy, make sure to register for the same session. You will list your camper’s buddy’s name when you complete their camp forms post-registration.
The $50 deposit is non-refundable. The remainder of the camp fee ($50 deposit excluded) will be refunded if: GSU receives an email (info@gsutah.org) notification at least three weeks prior to the start date of the camp program. OR Camper leaves the camp program due to illness or injury and GSU receives an email (info@gsutah.org) request for a refund within two weeks after camper returns home. Refunds will be pro-rated on per-diem basis. OR GSU cancels the camp program and alternative programs were offered, but you choose to not select an alternative program.
Cancellations within three weeks of the start date of the camp program: If a camper is unable to attend camp due to illness, injury, family emergency, etc. GSU will work with families to see if the registration can be transferred to another camp program in the current summer. If an alternative program cannot be found for the same summer (June 1 – August 15), families will receive credit for the amount paid for the program ($50 deposit excluded) for the following summer (terms and restrictions apply).
No refunds will be provided if a girl returns home due to homesickness, misconduct, parent/guardian request, and/or any other circumstance.
Girl Scouts of Utah plans quality programs with the health, safety, and well-being of campers as our priority. Sessions may be altered or canceled due to weather, fire, natural disaster, staffing challenges, or low registration numbers. If a session is canceled due to low registration numbers, campers will be given the opportunity to select another program. No refunds will be issued if changes are made to activities due to weather, fire, or natural disaster. The Camp Director may determine whether a camper is competent to participate in any activity, and, if necessary, transfer the camper to another program. When necessary, campers will participate in alternate activities. Campers are expected to follow the Girl Scout Promise and Law. If a camper is unable to follow camp guidelines, damages property, or becomes a danger to themselves or others, the Camp Director will work with the camper and may elect to send them home.
