The Power of Girl Scout Camp

For more than 110 years, Girl Scouts have discovered, explored, and strengthened their outdoor skills and commitment to environmental stewardship through camp programs. Guided by supportive adults and peers, Girl Scouts discover the wonders of nature, experience the thrill of adventure, and challenge themselves and one another to reach new heights!

Girl Scouts’ national outdoor programming features a variety of fun, challenging, and experiential activities that empower campers as they develop attitudes, skills, and behaviors essential to effective leadership in the outdoors.

Outdoor Competence

Girl Scouts engage safely and responsibly in a range of outdoor activities (e.g., practicing Leave No Trace and knowing what to bring to be prepared in the outdoors).

Outdoor Confidence

Girl Scouts have confidence in their outdoor abilities and are willing to try new and challenging outdoor activities.

Outdoor Interest

Camp Philosophy and Camp Life

Camping provides Girl Scouts a rich experience away from home. Camp is a great place for youth to unlock their potential and discover the great outdoor adventures that await them. This unique environment helps your camper develop positive self-esteem, leadership skills, and social skills - all while having the time of their life.

The summer camp experience plays a crucial role in shaping youth into accomplished and resourceful young adults. In this outdoor setting, Girl Scouts develop a strong sense of self, gain practical life skills, become resourceful problem solvers, and cultivate healthy relationships by living and working together.

Girl Scouts of Utah Camps are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and meet high standards for program design and activities, site and food service, transportation, health and wellness, operation management, and human resources.

At Girl Scouts of Utah, we know you want your camper to have a chance for personal development in a safe environment. We also know campers want to have a fun adventure. We work to provide both, by hiring and training qualified staff and offering a top-ranked outdoor experience. Girl Scouts of Utah’s full-time Outdoor Program team is in place to ensure an exceptional experience for your Girl Scout – and peace of mind for you.

Outdoor Program Team Camp Staff

Our camp staff are talented, energetic role models. Staff are selected based on their hard and soft skills and experience in childcare. As part of our values, we are committed to inclusion and diversity on our Girl Scouts of Utah staff team. We actively seek to employ a diverse group of individuals from a variety of different races, religions, socioeconomic statuses, gender identities, and backgrounds. All camp staff members receive intensive training on program development, Girl Scout program and philosophy, age level characteristics, environmental education, behavior management, outdoor skills, and risk management. Additional training is given for adventure programs. All staff members are CPR and first-aid certified.

If you know someone 18+ years old who is looking for an impactful summer job, please refer them to work at camp!

Paying for Camp

Camp fees help cover all the expenses associated with our camps such as property maintenance, utilities, insurance, equipment, supplies, food, activities, and staff. Our camp fees have seen an increase for summer 2025 due to increased food costs, supply costs, staff salaries, and increased program duration.

It is important to us that camp fees are not a barrier to participation. We have developed several ways to help pay for camp, including Activity Credits, tiered pricing, and activity scholarships.

Camp payments are due in full by Wednesday, May 22, 2025.

Tiered Pricing

Tiered pricing makes it possible for all campers to have the same experience, regardless of what their caregiver can afford. Tiered prices are listed with each camp session description and should be selected based on the family’s budget. Girl Scouts of Utah strive to ensure household finances are not a barrier when paying for a camp experience. No financial documentation is required.

Tier One (T1)

The actual cost to run camps: staffing, program supplies, food, and maintenance costs.

Available for:

• GSU members

• Girl Scout members from other councils

• Non-members.

Tier Two (T2)

Partially subsidized cost for families that can pay a little more, but not the actual cost of camp.

Available for:

• GSU members

• Girl Scout members from other councils

Tier Three (T3)

The minimum fee that all GSU members are asked to pay. Girl Scouts of Utah subsidizes the entire remainder of the cost.

Available for:

• GSU members only

Activity scholarships are available for Girl Scouts of Utah members if assistance is needed to pay for Tier Three (T3).

Early Bird Pricing

Register for a summer overnight camp program before February 1, 2025 and save! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to secure your spot at a reduced rate. Early Bird pricing is eligible for all three tiers.

Programs 5 nights or more save $50 per program by using code EARLYBIRD50

Programs 4 nights or less save $25 per program by using code EARLYBIRD25

Early Bird pricing is only available for overnight camp sessions at Camp Cloud Rim or Trefoil Ranch in summer 2025.

Troop Camping, Family Camp, You and Me, and day-only programs are not eligible.

Activity Scholarships

Girl Scouts of Utah members may request up to three activity scholarships per membership year (October 1-September 30 annually), with a limit of one activity scholarship for a summer camp (overnight camp or troop camping).

Applications for an activity scholarship may be submitted after the completion of the initial registration, and a $50 non-refundable deposit is paid. The primary round of scholarship requests for summer camp are accepted between March 1 and April 1. Scholarship awards will be applied to camp balances no later than May 1.

All applications received after April 1, 2025, will be awarded based on funding available at that time.

Activity Credits

Girl Scout programming is powered by the Girl Scout Cookie Program through Activity Credits. Cookie sellers receive Activity Credits to help pay for summer camps, day camps, program activities, Girl Scout membership fees, and items in the Girl Scout Shop.

For every 50 packages of cookies (from 50-349 packages), a Girl Scout earns $12.50 in Activity Credits.

For every 50 packages of cookies (starting at 350+ packages), a Girl Scout earns $15.00 in Activity Credits.

Each camp or activity indicates the number of packages of cookies needed to sell to attend that program using Activity Credits. Girl Scouts can work with a supportive adult to use these quantities to help set their cookie-selling goals.

Each camp requires a $50 non-refundable deposit in addition to the number of packages sold.

To apply Activity Credits to a camp balance, simply bring in or mail the credits to any Girl Scouts of Utah office with the Program, Event, and Camp Payment Form (found at www.gsutah.org/forms). You will receive email confirmation once the payment has been applied.

If registering before April, families have the option to have all 2025 Activity Credits earned directly to their camp balance.

Outdoor Progression

Girl Scout outdoor experiences are based on a system of progression. We encourage campers to start at their comfort level, learn new skills, at their own pace, and keep building their confidence in the outdoors. Girl Scouts of Utah has several programs designed specifically to meet your camper where they are and then build their independence and leadership skills throughout the years to come!

Camp Changes for 2025

Girl Scout Families – We’ve heard you! We’re excited to announce some significant changes to our summer camp programs for 2025, all designed to enhance the experience for our Girl Scouts.

We’ve listened to your feedback and are making adjustments that prioritize convenience, engagement, and fun.

Check in and Check out

We’ve moved the check-in process to Sunday afternoon, meaning families do not have to take time off work on Mondays for drop off. This also gives us an extra full day of programming on Mondays. Check out on Friday will move to early afternoon, to avoid travel during rush hour traffic.

We are also transitioning from a drive-through drop off and pick up to a walk-through format, which will create a more personal and welcoming atmosphere as campers and families arrive. This will also give families a chance to talk to their child’s counselors at the end of the week.

Simpler Program Selection

As you browse our catalog, you will notice that we’ve simplified the program selection process. This year, our focus will be on ensuring that campers participate in key program areas at camp and will have increased time for girl-choice programming – in line with our mission and values.

We believe this will create a more well-rounded experience for everyone. You will still see favorite specialty programs such as horseback riding, high adventure, and leadership programs.

Increased Summer Family Options

You will find that we’ve added additional sessions of family camp and brought back the You and Me program! These offerings will encourage families to join in on the fun, creating lasting memories together. And it will also help everyone become more familiar with the camp experience.

We can’t wait to see you at camp this summer!

Campers in horseback riding programs will hike to the stables for every horse program block, located three quarters of a mile uphill from the main camp. For everyone’s safety, participants not following directions from equestrian staff will not be permitted to ride. For the soundness and safety of our horses, riders may not exceed 250 lbs.

Important Information

Girl Scouts of Utah plans quality programs with the health, safety, and well-being of campers as our priority. Sessions may be altered or canceled due to weather, fire, natural disaster, staffing challenges, or low registration numbers. If a session is canceled due to low registration numbers, campers will be given the opportunity to select another program.

No refunds will be issued if changes are made to activities due to weather, fire, or natural disaster. The Camp Director may determine whether a camper is competent to participate in any activity, and, if necessary, transfer the camper to another program. When necessary, campers will participate in alternate activities.

Campers are expected to follow the Girl Scout Promise and Law. If a camper is unable to follow camp guidelines, damages property, or becomes a danger to themselves or others, the Camp Director will work with the camper and may elect to send them home.
