GOAL OF ADULT EDUCATION DIVISION AT GTCC Adult Education provides students a solid foundation that will empower them to become more successful. Our objective is to give students access to lifelong learning opportunities for personal growth, workforce development, and community service.

PROGRAMS WE OFFER GTCC can help you learn to read, improve math skills, finish a high school diploma, earn a GED® Diploma, improve English skills, develop computer skills and prepare for college. Prior to enrollment in the program all students must attend an orientation class.
Adult High School (AHS)
This program is for adults who want to earn a high school diploma. Courses are taught in a lab setting. Students must provide an official transcript from the last school attended, maintain strict attendance, and complete 24 credit-bearing courses to receive a diploma.
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
The ABE program helps adults improve basic reading, math and writing skills. You may enroll at any time during the semester. *Students with intellectual disabilities (Compensatory Education students) are served in the ABE program, dependent upon their assessment scores.
High School Equivalency (HSE)
This self-paced, flexible program prepares adults age 18 and older to earn a GED® Diploma, accepted as a high school equivalency by most employers and college admissions offices. Students must pass 4 subject tests: Reasoning through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
For adults whose first language is not English, ESOL classes provide instruction in English lis-tening, speaking, reading and writing. Class lev-els range from Basic to Advanced. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and Citizenship classes are also available. The program also offers family literacy classes where parents and children learn together “under one roof.” Adults can earn their GED® Diploma or improve their English skills as their children prepare for school success in a quality learning environment.
The Official GED® Exam is also offered in Spanish. *GED® preparation courses are also available online at both campus locations.
