THE CENTER FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING
The Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) is a new teaching and training facility that sits on a 37-acre site adjacent to GTCC’s Jamestown Campus. Expanded Space, New Equipment TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGIES
The Automotive Systems Technology students have four classroom/ automotive shop areas, each with four bays and four lifts, and a fifth shop with alignment machines and other industry standard equipment. The Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology area has seven bays, almost doubling their current capacity, while the Collision Repair Technology area has three paint booths and three areas for frame straightening. Two drive-through classrooms allow for live demos, and let vehicles move between the body and paint shops without going outside in bad weather or losing heat or cooling when the door is opened. New technology also permits an instructor to present a lesson or demonstration to multiple areas simultaneously via wall-mounted flat screen TV’s.
CAM will allow three growing programs to add space to serve more students, preparing them to meet the needs of local companies. The college is also investing in the latest manufacturing technology which, combined with our existing equipment, will make it possible to give GTCC students the best possible real world training and experience.
