Course Repetition Policy
In 1993, the N.C. legislature enacted a law that requires anyone, including senior citizens, who takes the same occupational extension course more than twice within a five-year period to pay an additional cost of $6.41-$7.12 per scheduled hour. You are exempt from this policy if you are required by law to have certification/ licensure.
Who May Register?
If you are 18 years old or older, you may register for a course. Applicants who are still enrolled in high school, but are at least 16 years of age, should secure authorization from their high school principal in the form of a letter. A letter must be secured each term the student wishes to take a course(s).
When To Register
You may register for a course up to the first day of class, but late registration is discouraged to be sure you get the classes you want. You may not be allowed to enter classes after the starting date.
After You Register
Plan to attend the classes you registered for as scheduled. You will not be contacted unless there is a change in the class schedule.
Fees, Books, Supplies Registration fees, which are listed with each class description, do not include the cost of textbooks or supplies. Fees are set by the NC General Assembly and are based on the number of contact hours for each course. Some of the courses listed in this catalog require textbooks; textbooks are sold at the GTCC Bookstores: The Jamestown Bookstore is open Monday – Thursday, 8a-8p; Friday, 8a-4p. The Greensboro bookstore is open Monday through Thursday, 9a-7p; Friday, 9a-12p. The High Point bookstore is open Monday through Thursday from 9a-7p; Friday, 9a-12p. You can also buy books online at: www.gtcc.bkstr.com. Some courses require supplies/materials and you are accountable for purchasing the necessary items. Students in all continuing education classes will be assessed a $5 CAPS fee to help cover expenses associated with providing campus access, parking and security at the college. Students can obtain parking stickers at any GTCC Campus Police office or the cashier office in Jamestown. Parking permits (stickers) are valid at all GTCC campuses. Some programs require malpractice insurance. These fees, where applicable, are included in the published course fee.
Dropping / Adding Classes If you want to drop a class and receive a refund, please contact the
Departmental Coordinator or the Continuing Education Registrar’s Office. The amount of your refund will depend on when you drop the class. See the refund policy. If you want to add a class, you can register up until the first day of class. You can replace one course with another if they have the same registration fee if and is approved by the Departmental Coordinator.
Refunds The College will make a 100% refund of registration fees if you officially
withdraw from class before the first class meeting. Also, if a class is canceled or full, GTCC will make a full refund. The College will refund 75% of the registration fee (of tuition only) if you officially withdraw from the class on the first day of class or before the class reaches the census date. The census date varies from class to class. Refunds are processed on a monthly basis. However, please allow 6-8 weeks to receive the refund. The College refund policy is established by state legislative action and is subject to change without prior notice to students. The refund policy stated above was in effect at the time this catalog was published.

Sponsors may include your employer or government agencies (i.e. Employment Security Commission, Job Link, or Vocational Rehabilitation).
