Maufra Maxime Maufra, a major French Post-Impressionist painter, developed an identifiably individual style during his short life. Although influenced by the work of Gauguin and the artists of the School of Pont Aven, notably Gustave Loiseau and Henry Moret, Maufra actively pursued an individual style that adhered to an overwhelming interest in color and bravura brushwork.

Renoir Renoir is perhaps the best loved of all the Impressionists, for his subjects—pretty children, flowers, beautiful women— have instant appeal, and he communicated the joy he took in them with great directness. “Why shouldn't art be pretty?” he said. “There are enough unpleasant things in the world.”
Renoir was a founding member of the Impressionists, participating in four of the eight Impressionist group exhibitions: 1874, 1876, 1877, 1882
**The great French Impressionist artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir had three sons, with Claude, called “Coco,” being the youngest. Coco held a special place in the artist’s heart and Renoir frequently used “Coco” for a model in both paintings and sculptures…and according to his brother Jean, “one of the most prolific inspirations my father ever had.” The custom of clothing boys in dresses and wearing long hair was a centuries-old European custom that began to wane in the late 19th century and was nearly extinct by the end of the Great War.

In 1923, Henri Martin settled into a house and studio in the picturesque medieval village of Collioure, on the Mediterranean near the Spanish border. Collioure became a favorite subject matter for the artist and continues to be a preferred subject amoungst collectors. During the 1920s, Henri Martin executed a series of paintings depicting the port of Collioure with its fishing boats, the surrounding hills and countryside and the massive medieval ramparts and church. Known for its brilliant light, gentle hills, medieval town and reflective water, Collioure has attracted artists since the beginning of the twentieth century, including: Henri Matisse, André Derain, Othon Friesz, Tsuguharu Fujita, Braque, and Picasso.

Loiseau most identified stylistically with the Impressionists, especially Claude Monet, both of who favored painting landscapes en plein air and directly on the canvas. Like the Impressionists, Loiseau was represented by the art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel, enabling him to travel extensively throughout the regions of Île-deFrance, Normandy, Brittany, and the Dordogne, where he worked out-of-doors, producing spontaneous, light-infused landscapes.

**YPORT is a small fishing village in Normandy on the Cote d’Albatre (Alabaster Coast), so named for its high white chalk cliffs. For over one hundred years, the port, its beach, and cliffs, have attracted tourists and artists. The Impressionist Claude Monet was a frequent visitor who painted views of the village and the cliffs at Yport.

A leading Post-Impressionist artist, Henri Lebasque developed his skill and artistic vision in the milieu of late 19th- and early 20th-century Paris.

Over his career Lebasque evolved from Impressionism to Post-Impressionism to Pointalism to Fauve. The work of Henri Lebasque, however, is unquestionably his own and his subjects are almost always personal, including intimate scenes of domestic life and leisure.
**Le Pradet is an idyllic town located on France’s Côte d’Azur, halfway between Marseille and Cannes. During the 1920s, Lebasque spent his summers in Le Pradet, where he depicted his family—wife , daughters, and son—enjoying moments of quiet summer leisure.

Pissarro The youngest of five sons born to the Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro,
Paul-Émile Pissarro followed in his father’s footsteps in painting scenes of the French countryside, including Barbizon-influenced landscapes. His biggest source of artistic influence, apart from his father, was his godfather Claude Monet, who taught Paul-Émile everything he knew after Camille’s death in 1903.

mixed-media mosaic, became fascinated with the famous artwork of Van Gogh. His signature method of creation involves wrapping pieces of Styrofoam—the most exemplar material of modernity for Lee — with strips of magazine, newsprint, or traditional Korean hanji paper.
