Centro and Barrio Sur Centro

Without a doubt it’s one of the busiest areas of the city used by the people of Montevideo. It starts alongside avenue 18 de Julio and its neighbours ciudad vieja (the old town) and Cordon, most of the museums, points of interest and plazas as well as many galleries and shops, public and private academies, schools, universities, cultural and administrative centres, all used on a day to day basis. Born as the “new city since 1830 after the end of the walled in Montevideo. Since then, the city centre keeps large pieces of national heritage and in turn everyday is in response to current needs and seeking to be more inclusive.
