$ LANGUAGE
The official language of the country is Spanish. They don’t have a second language. Where tourists go they speak English, but it is not something that is generalized. In a few places they speak English and Portuguese.
CURRENCY
The national currency is the Uruguayan peso. In many places they accept US dollars. Credit / debit cards are used in businesses but they are not universalized. Foreign currency can be changed in both banks and exchange houses located in various areas of the city.
WEATHER
It is a country with a mild climate. In winter, temperatures range between -2° C and 15° C; and in summer, between 20° C and 38° C.
Ciudad Vieja History and art comes together in this neighborhood giving it a unique personality. In its streets not only is it where the city of Montevideo was conceived but also where we can see what really characterizes the Uruguayan population, with its mixture of European influences that are reflected in the different architectural styles of the buildings. In colonial times, the fortified settlers, San Felipe and Santiago de Montevideo, enjoyed spending their free time at the house of comedians, at the “baile de negros� (black dancers), the root of candombe in Montevideo, or just simply holding conversations
