THE GAS RECOVERY SYSTEM Blue Skies Cryogenic Technology The GRS Technology — VOC Gases & Emissions Recovery Overview The Gas Recovery System (The GRS) was engineered and developed as a compact and transportable multi-purpose unit to recover Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's). The system is based on cryogenic condensation using liquid nitrogen to recover VOC's in a safe, economical and environmentally friendly method, rather than disposing valuable gases through the use of flares or incinerators.

This technology using an integrated heat transfer fluid, makes this system truly unique, while the system flexibility and scalability, expands into a wide range of VOC gases and vapor emissions recovery. The GRS gas recovery unit provides a system for multi-function applications such as gas recovery, flare recov-

ery, gas liquefaction, and gas purging. The GRS applications include multi-product unloading, cleaning, degassing, gas-freeing, purging and non-existent product changeover of chemical barges, gas tanker ships, rail tank cars, spheres, tanks, and large gas vessels or containers. Its main function has provided many service years throughout Europe that in-

cluded degassing and cleaning for vessel safety inner coating inspections and product decontamination along with several other marine and industrial applications.

Compact, Flexible & Transportable The GRS is a large capacity, highly efficient, and a compact system. All components are mounted in a standard 10 foot ISO container frame. This makes the this unit easily transportable and consequently extremely flexible.

System Multi-Purposes: Gas/Vapor/Emissions recovery system provides capabilities for: Degassing & Decontamination Cooling & Purging Gas liquefaction capabilities Scalable vapor/gas emissions control unit Recycles gases, vapors, or emissions directly to storage Applications focused on pressurized vessels or cargo containment systems Handles 22 multiple HRVOC and pure gases

THE GRS:

THE GAS RECOVERY SYSTEM Blue Skies Cryogenic Technology The GRS — environmentally safe and no secondary pollution Economical & Environmental Benefits The GRS vapor recovery technology patented by GRS AS offers a clean and energy efficient method for refining, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries to cut losses incurred during loading, unloading, storage, and handling of organic compounds.

The release of vapors from a cargo containment system often requires inert gas during the procedure. Gas freeing and purging of gas containment systems are a typical example. The nitrogen vapors generated during the vapor recovery process of the GRS unit can be used for inerting or blanketing. The Gas Recovery System (GRS) introduces new models and markets, to include gas recovery and vapor emissions control. . The GRS’s major economical benefit is using this gas recovery technology minimizes onshore flaring while reducing emissions. The multi-purpose units increases efficiency when container or vessel “gas freeing” and/or “grade change” operations. The GRS technology will provide gas recovery while maintaining “on-specification” liquid gases or will decontaminate them before recycling.” In addition to the economical benefits, the GRS operates while being com-

pletely environmentally safe. The unit features its “No Secondary Emissions” such as acid gases, CO2 emission, waste-water, nitrogen oxides, dioxins, and other pollutants. The GRS and its applications reduces flaring or incineration emissions by reclaiming and recycling VOC gases. The technology reduces emissions when container gases are purged, recovered, stored, destroyed at manageable and acceptable rates. This technology aspires to bring new thinking to reduce the inefficient business practice of dedicated cargo vessels or containers across global industries, requiring large capital equipment funding and annual maintenance cost.

The GRS is seeking to benchmark a new standard for (HRVOC) Highly Reactive VOC recovery and reclamation applications in several markets. Markets and applications include marine transport, bulk tank and spheres storage farms, rail cleaning, flare docks and transloading terminals or facilities.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulation mandates the Highly Reactive Volatile Organic Compounds (HR-VOC) Chapter 115 for non-attainment areas. This emissions regulation targets compounds such as Ethylene, Propylene, 1,3 Butadiene, and Butenes. The GRS together with mandated emissions measurement devices, the GRS will offer new solutions to meet local, state, and federally mandated ozone attainment and emission’s cap compliance. Reducing flaring and incineration with the GRS, will lower emissions, lessen environmental burden, and provide a solution to meet these costly mandated regulations.

Environmentally Safe Scalable Technology Non-Secondary Emissions Reduces Flaring & Incineration VOC removal efficiency Adjustable flow & concentration On-spec product recovery Small equipment foot-print Low operating costs Low maintenance costs Low energy consumption Intrinsically Safe Compact, Mobile & Transportable

THE GAS RECOVERY SYSTEM Blue Skies Cryogenic Technology The Gas Recovery System The Technology The GRS utilizes liquid nitrogen as coolant. The nitrogen never mixes with the cargo vapor stream and leaves the unit as a pure gas. The vaporized nitrogen can be used for purging or blanketing of the cargo containment system or for in-plant operations. The cargo vapors to be recovered from the cargo containment system are simply replaced by nitrogen vapors generated during the liquefaction process.

A direct heat exchange between the liquid nitrogen and the cargo vapors would result in operational problems in the GRS unit, due to solidification of most of the hydrocarbons at the extremely low temperatures. To avoid this problem, a heat transfer fluid is used as the intermediate between both the liquid nitrogen and cargo vapors. The temperature of the heat transfer fluid is adjusted as a function of the nature of the compound to be liquefied.

“ Today the patented GRS is the only true gas recovery and reclamation system.”

Liquid nitrogen is introduced to a nitrogen vaporiser where it is vaporized against the heat transfer fluid with the result of cooling down the latter.

System Features

In the cargo condenser, the vac 's are liquefied by heat exchange with the chilled heat transfer fluid. From the condenser, the liquefied vac - incondensable mixture flows to the vapor / liquid separator. Incondensables, such as nitrogen vapors, are released from the top of the separator to the atmosphere .The condensate is pumped from the liquid collector of the separator to storage or to plant facilities. Complete condensation occurs in the condenser and an extremely efficient recovery of the product is achieved.

GRS – Gas Recovery System

VRU – Vapor Recovery System

VPS – Vapor Purging System

A Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) traditionally only purges vapors for direct flaring. A Vapor Purging Unit (VPU) traditionally functions only by introducing pressure or air blowers into cargo containers which forces vapors to a permanent or mobile flare. The Gas Recovery System (GRS) provides degassing, de-heeling, cleaning and includes recovery and reclamation of liquid and vapor heels simultaneously. Products are reclaimed on-grade specification ready for reuse, market resale, or return to the original customer or manufacturer.

“Today the GRS is the only patented gas recovery and reclamation system with handling capability of 22 Volatile Organic Compounds, designed for major industry applications. The GRS recovered the remaining VOC (liquid and vapor) product to a pressure refrigerated tank truck, while sending non-recoverable separated gases to a natural gas fired flare.” Visit our GRS website for demonstration video and result charts.
