Born a king on Bethlehem’s plain, Gold I bring to crown Him again, King forever, ceasing never Over us all to reign. Chorus Frankincense to offer have I. Incense owns a Deity nigh. Prayer and praising all men Raising, Worshipping Him, God on high.

Do You Hear What I Hear? Said the night wind to the little lamb, “Do you see what I see? Way up in the sky, little lamb, Do you see what I see? A star, a star, dancing in the night With a tail as big as a kite, With a tail as big as a kite.”

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king, “Do you know what I know? In your palace warm, mighty king, Do you know what I know? A Child, a Child shivers in the cold-Let us bring Him silver and gold, Let us bring Him silver and gold.”

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, “Do you hear what I hear? Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy, Do you hear what I hear? A song, a song high above the trees With a voice as big as the the sea, With a voice as big as the the sea.”

Said the king to the people everywhere, “Listen to what I say! Pray for peace, people, everywhere, Listen to what I say! The Child, the Child sleeping in the night He will bring us goodness and light, He will bring us goodness and light.”

O Little Town of Bethlehem O little town of Bethlehem, How still we see thee lie! Above thy deep and dreamless Sleep The silent stars go by; Yet in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting light; The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight.

How silently, how silently, The wondrous gift is given! So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming, But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive Him, still The dear Christ enters in.

For Christ is born of Mary, And gathered all above, While mortals sleep, the angels Keep Their watch of wondering love. O morning stars, together Proclaim the holy birth! And praises sing to God the King, And peace to men on earth.

Where children pure and happy Pray to the blessed Child, Where misery cries out to thee, Son of the mother mild; Where charity stands watching And faith holds wide the door, The dark night wakes, The glory breaks, And Christmas comes once more.

O holy Child of Bethlehem! Descend to us, we pray; Cast out our sin and enter in, Be born in us to-day. We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell; O come to us, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel!

Silent Night

Winter Wonderland

Silent night, holy night, All is calm, all is bright Round yon virgin mother and child. Holy infant so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace. Sleep in heavenly peace.

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, in the lane, snow is glistening; A beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight, Walking in a winter wonderland. Gone away is the bluebird; here to stay is a new bird. We sing a love song as we go along, Walking in a winter wonderland. In the meadow we can build a snowman, And pretend that he is Parson Brown; He’ll say are you married? We’ll say, no, man, But you can do the job when you’re in town.

Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight, Glories stream from heaven afar, Heavely hosts sing alleluia; Christ the Saviour, is born! Christ the Saviour, is born! Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love’s pure light Radiant beams from Thy holy face, With the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord, at thy birth. Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

Later on, we’ll conspire, as we dream by the fire, To face unafraid, the plans that we made, Walking in a winter wonderland. In the meadow we can build a snowman, And pretend that he’s a circus clown; We’ll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman Until the other kiddies knock him down. When it snows, ain’t it thrillin’, tho your nose gets a chillin’ To frolic and play the eskimo way, walking in a winter wonderland.

Little Drummer Boy Come they told me, Pa rum pum pum pum A new born King to see, Pa rum pum pum pum Our finest gifts we bring, Pa rum pum pum pum To lay before the King, Pa rum pum pum pum, Rum pum pum pum, Rum pum pum pum, So to honor Him, Pa rum pum pum pum, When we come. Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum I am a poor boy too, Pa rum pum pum pum I have no gift to bring,

Pa rum pum pum pum That’s fit to give the King, Pa rum pum pum pum, Rum pum pum pum, Rum pum pum pum, Shall I play for you, Pa rum pum pum pum, On my drum? Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum Pum the ox and lamb kept time, Pa rum Pum pum pum I played my drum for Him, Pa rum pum pum pum I played my best for Him, Pa rum pum pum pum, Rum pum pum pum, Rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, Pa rum pum pum pum Me and my drum.

While Shepherds Watched While shepherds watched their flocks by night, All seated on the ground, The angel of the Lord came down, And glory shone around. “Fear not!” said he; (for mighty dread Had seized their troubled mind), “Glad tidings of great joy I bring, To you and all mankind. “To you, in David’s town, this day Is born of David’s line, The Saviour, who is Christ the Lord; And this shall be the sign:

Thus spake the seraph; and forthwith Appeared a shining throng of angels, praising God, Who thus addresses their joyful song:

“The heavenly babe you there shall find To human view displayed, All meanly wrapped in swathingbands, And in a manger laid.”

“All glory be to God on high, And on the earth be peace: Good will henceforth from heaven to man, Begin and never cease!”

O Holy Night O holy night! The stars are Brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour’s Birth. Long lay the world in sin and Error pining. Till He appeared and the Soul Felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world Rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and Glorious morn. Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the Angel voices! O night divine, O night when Christ was born; O night, O holy night, O night divine! O night, O holy night, O night Divine! Led by the light of Faith serenely Beaming, With glowing hearts by His cradle We stand. O’er the world a star is sweetly gleaming, Now come the wisemen from Orient land. The King of kings lay thus in lowly Manger; In all our trials born to be our Friend. He knows our need, our weakness Is no stranger, Behold your King! Before Him Lowly bend! Behold your King! Before Him Lowly Bend!

Truly He taught Us to love one Another, His law is love and His gospel is Peace. Chains he shall break, For the Slave is our brother. And in his name all oppression Shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful Chorus raise we, With all our hearts we praise His Holy name. Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever Praise we, His power and glory ever more Proclaim! His power and glory ever more Proclaim!

Joy to the World Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven, and heaven And nature sing.

No more let sins and sorrows grow, Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow, Far as the curse is found, Far as the curse is found, Far as, far as the curse is found.

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns! Let men their songs employ; While fields and floods, Rocks, hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

He rules the world with truth And grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders of His love.

The Christmas Song Chestnuts roasting on an Open fire, Jack Frost nipping At your nose, yuletide songs Being sung by a choir, and Folks dressed up like eskimos. Everybody knows a turkey and Some mistletoe help to make The season bright. Tiny tots with their eyes all Aglow will find it hard to Sleep tonight. They know that Santa’s on his way, he’s loaded Lots of toys and goodies on His sleigh. And every mother’s Child will want to spy to see If reindeer really know how to fly. And so I’m offering this simple phrase for kids from One to ninety-two, although It’s been said many times, Many ways, Merry Christmas to you.

Mary’s Boy Child Long time ago in Bethlehem, So the Holy Bible say, Mary’s boy child, Jesus Christ, Was born on Christmas Day. Hark, now hear the angels sing, A new King born today. And man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day. While shepherds watch their Flocks by night, they see a Bright new shining star. They hear a choir sing, the Music seems to come from afar. Hark, now hear the angels sing, A new King born today. And man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day. Now Joseph and his wife, Mary, Come to Bethlehem that night. They find no place to bear the Child, not a single room was In sight. Trumpets sound and Angels sing, a new King Born today. And man will Live forevermore because of Christmas Day.

Holly Jolly Christmas Have a holly, jolly Christmas; It’s the best time of the year. I don’t know if there’ll be snow, But have a cup of cheer. Have a holly, jolly Christmas, And when you walk down the street, Say “hello” to friends you know And everyone you meet. Oh ho, the mistletoe, hung where you can see; Somebody waits for you; kiss her once for me. Have a holly jolly Christmas, And in case you didn’t hear, Oh by golly, have a holly, Jolly Christmas this year!

White Christmas

Let It Snow Oh, the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful, And since we’ve no place to go, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas Just like the ones I used to know Where the treetops glisten, And children listen To hear sleigh bells in the snow.

It doesn’t show signs of stopping, and I brought some corn for popping; the lights Are turned way down low, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white.

When we finally kiss goodnight, How I hate going out in the storm; But if you’ll really hold me tight, All the way home I’ll be warm. The fire is slowly dying, and my dear, We’re still good-bye-ing, But as long as you love me so, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

GULF ISLANDS DRIFTWOOD

An Island Christmas 2017 O 21

It Came Upon the Midnight Clear It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth To touch their harps of gold: “Peace on the earth, good will to men, From heaven’s all-gracious King.” The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing. Still through the cloven skies they come With peaceful wings unfurled, And still their heavenly music floats O’er all the weary world; Above its sad and lowly plains They bend on hovering wing, And ever o’er its Babel-sounds The blessed angels sing.

O ye, beneath life’s crushing load, Whose forms are bending low, Who toil along the climbing way With painful steps and slow, Look now! for glad and golden Hours Come swiftly on the wing; O rest beside the weary road And hear the angels sing!

Yet with the woes of sin and strife The world has suffered long; Beneath the heavenly strain have Rolled two thousand years of wrong; And man, at war with man, Hears not the tidings which they bring; O hush the noise, ye men of strife, And hear the angels sing!

For lo! the days are hastening on, By prophets seen of Old, When with the ever-circling years Shall come the time foretold, When peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendors fling, And the whole world give back the song Which now the Angels sing.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas We wish you a Merry Christmas; We wish you a Merry Christmas; We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We won’t go until we get some; We won’t go until we get some; We won’t go until we get some, So bring some out here. Refrain

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin; Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year! We wish you a Merry Christmas; We wish you a Merry Christmas; Now, bring us a figgy pudding; We wish you a Merry Christmas Now, bring us a figgy pudding; And a Happy New Year! Now, bring us a figgy pudding and a Cup of good cheer! Refrain
