parc’s trail system
In 2016, PARC’s trail crew has focused on major repair and upgrades on existing trails such as Duck Creek. PARC has secured Statutory Rights-of-Way between Lepage Road and Whims Road, and the trail crew will be developing Hedger’s Turn Trail. Watch for more information on this new walk in the spring edition of the Leisure Guide. And hot off the press………… the latest version of PARC’s brochure, ‘Trails At A Glance’.
In addition to updated trail rating information, the guide includes two of our newest trails, Bishop’s Walk and Blackburn, and stunning photos taken by one of PARC’s trail crew, Justin Byron. Hard copies are available at the PARC office and at the Tourist Information Centre, or it can be viewed online at www.crd.bc.ca/ ssiparc. PARC’s trail system totals almost 40 km of developed trails that provide residents and visitors with opportunities for physical activities such as walking, running and bird watching, as well as mountain biking and horseback riding where permitted. Get together and enjoy the great outdoors with friends and family. Additional Island trail networks can be found in Provincial Parks and the Salt Spring Island Conservancy properties.

A nice way to break up your day. The pool is set up in standard layout with a fast, medium and slow lane and a wider lane for those leisure swimmers.
Adult & Youth
“It’s a great place to get exercise on a rainy, cold day.”
This time is set aside for older folks who would like to enjoy the pool with older people. It is also a great time for our high school PE classes to use the pool.
Sunday Toonie Swim
Swim for 4 hours for just two dollars. This is a perfect time for families to enjoy the pool. All the toys are available and there is space to swim lengths as well.
Water Fitness Classes It is a proven fact that exercising in water is a great way to increase the resistance on your body as you move, yet it’s easy on the joints since the buoyancy takes a lot of the weight. There is also an increase in the calories burned because your body is losing heat while in the water. Add these factors onto a great workout directed by one of our certified instructors and you will feel the difference right away. Rainbow Road Indoor Pool offers a selection of aquafit classes to suit everyone’s needs.
Energizer
Everyone Welcome
This fun and upbeat class will challenge you to work hard in shallow or deep water. The instructor will guide you through a number of exercises which will help with your strength, flexibility and fitness.

Everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy the pool during this time. There will be a lane open for those who would like to swim lengths and all the toys will be available for those who would like to play around. This is a fantastic way to end your day. Come on down and enjoy the hot tub and soak your day away. The pool is set up in standard layout with a fast, medium and slow lane and a wider lane for those leisure swimmers.
Friday Night Madness
For the younger set (12 and up) --- great music, great times. Try out the foosball table.
Aqualite
Nooners
Less intense than the morning Energizer session, this class is specifically for those looking for more strength and stretching. An instructor leads the group through a number of exercises designed to get your blood flowing and your muscles moving.

Instructor Profiles DEB LEBLANC
A fitness coach for over 25 years, Deb Leblanc is a multi-Certified Personal Trainer, Yoga Instructor, Medical Exercise Specialist, TRX Qualified Trainer, Learn-to-Run Coach; Weight Loss Specialist and published Canadian health & wellness author. Deb’s popular bootcamp classes ‘under the cherry tree’ have been a favoured addition to Portlock Park for almost 10 years. And Deb’s kind donation of her TRX Fitness station at Rainbow Pool is happily enjoyed by everyone who wants to take advantage of doing their TRX workout park side.
Jennifer Regular is a respected Master Integrated Energy Therapist, Motivational Counselor, Author, Reiki Drum Healer, Shamanic Practitioner, and an inspiring Wellness Leader focused on Soul Care. She is excited to be working with PARC to offer her original Creative Self Transformation workshop and guided meditation classes. Jennifer followed her calling to inspire and empower others to live from a higher vision and purpose after nearly twenty years of working in “helping” professions, including experiences as a counsellor and support coordinator for people who were affected by severe mental health issues, violence against women, homelessness, dysfunctional families, and poverty. She saw how easily people became disillusioned by the work they thought
would make a difference and how system procedures constricted progress and restricted the ability to connect to clients in a meaningful way. As one who suffered the effects of Compassion Fatigue, and went from agency to agency thinking other environments and circumstances would make a difference (it didn’t), she now guides those who are highly sensitive or stuck in self-defeating patterns of people-pleasing and perfectionism soar above any limitations and create more freedom and fulfillment. Jennifer has been recognized for helping people transform stress into ease and is known for her innate ability to guide others in discerning the truth of who they truly are and how they can safely express that into the world.
Deb introduced Hot Yoga to Salt Spring Island in 2007 with her sold-out classes at North End Fitness. And PARC is excited to announce she will be bringing her signature Yoga classes to the great outdoors this Summer 2017! When it comes to your health and wellness, her attention to detail is what sets Deb apart in the fitness industry. Deb’s meticulous client care stems from her focus on maintaining safe exercise protocol for your individual health concerns and goals. Deb is revered by her clientele and students as a fitness educator, motivator and a true inspiration to those who work with her.
JENNIFER REGULAR
CHRISTINA SURBEY Christina is a creative spirit who enjoys the natural beauty of Salt Spring Island. She has been a market vendor in the Saturday Market for nine years. She sells raw and polished rocks, handmade wire art, jewelry, and dream catchers. Christina loves to hike and collect wild seeds that she uses in many of her art pieces. Christina is also a local farmer. She has a large flock of chickens and duck.
