QUALITY OF LIFE

While the term ‘wellness’ has been around since the mid-1600s, the pursuit has never felt more important as we emerge from the throes of a national health crisis. Here in Southwest Florida, we’re fortunate to have many forces at work to enhance our self-care experience—incredible weather, the serenity of the Gulf, miles of exercise trails and a trove of experts trained to help us establish exercise routines, eat more thoughtfully and practice mindfulness. And those efforts are paying off—not only are we living longer, we’re also living better. That’s important because who wants to live forever if the quality of life is only so-so?

Variety plays a big part in a health and fitness routine, and we have plenty of options in this issue of Healthy Life. If you’ve grown tired of the four walls of your gym, hire a mobile version. Naples-based Carlos Garcia’s VERSAGYM is outfitted with everything from weights to TRX gear, and they also offer help with nutrition plans and premade meals, by partnering local purveyors—all from the comfort of your driveway.

In this issue, we also explore Health & Wealth Co., a Naples establishment where clients can tackle financial and physical goals all at once. The founders created the business guided by the idea that every facet of our lives is linked. They recognize that financial security, for instance, leads to peace of mind (not to mention, access to quality healthcare), while your wealth won’t mean as much if you don’t have the good health to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

For an added dose of inspiration in your wellness pursuits, check out our story about Amanda Carr, a BMX star who battled depression when her pro career slowed down and now coaches the next generation of talent in Punta Gorda. Carr still pedals, but she’s found that the key to long-term contentment lies in the purpose we apply to our actions.

We created this publication to highlight the experts who make Southwest Florida a health haven. Our hope is that as you read, you’ll find the resources you need, as well as the added motivation to try something new in the name of living better today and for years to come.
