During high school she was a member of the LULAC and Unity Club. She participated in softball and basketball. Maria will take some time off so she can get a job. After that she will attend Mesa State and major in psychology or she might end up leaving to Mexico and going to college there.

Jacob Cadwell

Dan Brown is the son of Kevin Brown and JoAnn Arai-Brown. He ran cross-country and track his freshmen year, but decided to work rather then play the next three years. He has completed three years of — and still uses — Spanish, as well as becoming a shift manager at the local Blue Iguana restaurant. He plans to take a year or so off to continue his job more in depth.

Jacob Lyn Cadwell is the son of Brad and Annette Cadwell. Both of them grew up around the Gunnison Valley, too. He played football and wrestled for three years. During the fall, Jacob will attend Mesa State and will participate in their lineman program. After the nine-month program, Jacob plans to get a job as an electric lineman somewhere else.

Naomi Cazares Naomi Cazares is the daughter of Angelica Mora. She has been an active member in band and choir throughout all four years of high school. Naomi will attend Western State College in the fall and plans to transfer to a coastal school her sophomore year in order to obtain her lifelong dream job as a marine biologist.

Casey Clark Casey Clark is the son of Randy and Ellen Clark. He is the grandson to Rosalie and Harold Clark, as well as Mary Shick of Oregon. He is also the greatgrandson of Chester Phillips. He is going to attend CSU-Pueblo in the fall.

Alyssa Dautrich

Connor is the son of Ken and Tracey Coleman and brother to Kirsten and Reidun Daily. A longtime Stingray, Connor swam in the Youth Friendship Games in the Netherlands in 2007 as a People-to-People Sports Ambassador. A three-sport letterman, he earned All-Conference honors in football and basketball. In track, he qualified four years for state placing in triple jump and was state runner up in high jump. He was a Link Crew Leader and member of Student Leadership. He traveled to Germany in 2008. Connor plans to attend Adams State College as recipient of a track and field scholarship, majoring in Health and Human Performance, and compete in decathlon.

Alyssa Dautrich is the daughter of Jeffery and Joanna Dautrich. She has lived in Gunnison County for most of her life. During high school, Alyssa was an active member in band, choir and drama. This fall, Alyssa will be attending Western State College seeking a degree in music education. She has always had a passion for performing arts and wants to be a great music teacher.

Though her ambitions to be a rock star still exist, she has decided to take a more grounded approach and pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Mesa State College this fall. Renee Del Vecchio Renee Leone Del Vecchio is the daughter of Marie and Paul Del Vecchio. During high school she participated in a number of extracurricular activities such as: Dance Team, Encore Choir, and GHS Band. Following her college career, she will attend beauty school and earn her beauty license so she may eventually own her own business.

Andrea Didericksen

Trenten Dickinson is the son of Michael and Francis Dickinson. He has an older sister, Kristin Hatch, and brother, Presten, and a younger brother Bryten. Trenten was born and raised in Gunnison and was very involved in athletics at GHS, playing football (honorable mention) and baseball, where the team went to the state tournament. He plans to join the Air Force in the fall and eventually go to school on the GI bill.

Andrea Kathryne Didericksen is the daughter of Brent and Jennifer Didericksen. During high school she was a member of the dance team. She participated in LINK and Stand Up, both student leadership oriented, and has lettered in academics as well as dance. This fall Andrea is going to attend CSU in Fort Collins where she plans to pursue Art.

Josh Finney is the son of Patrick and Melody Finney. He is an only child who was born and raised in Gunnison. In high school, he was active in golf, basketball and baseball all four years. He is undecided about his college plans, but would love to play baseball somewhere. This summer, he plans to work for his dad, who owns High Mark Electric, and make some money for college.

Kalynn Meghan Finney has lived in Gunnison her whole life. She is actively involved in cross-country, basketball, student leadership, link, and track and field. Meghan is planning on attending Southern Oregon University in Ashland in the fall. At SOU she is majoring in Political Science and international studies. She is undecided about running track and field there.

Joel Fraser Joel Fraser is the son of Dennis and Tami Fraser and the brother to Josh Fraser and Sumer Liebold. Joel was an athlete at Gunnison High, participating in football, basketball and track. Joel is deciding between attending Scottsdale Community College in Arizona or UCCS in Colorado Springs. He will run track at either school and attempt to earn his masters in Sports Management.

Colton Garcia Colton is the son of Juan and Jacualine Garcia. He has been active in outdoor recreation and wrestling. He plans to attend Western State to pursue his outdoor recreation interest and may wrestle and/or get involved it the mountain rescue program.

Anna is the daughter of Greg and Patty George and sister to Chad. She was a four-year varsity letter winner and state participant in cross country and track. She was involved in Science Olympiad and volunteered at Tenderfoot Child and Family Development Center and Girl Scouts for four years. She was also in National Honor Society. Anna will run cross country and major in Exercise and Sport Science at Western State College.

Brett is the son of Gary and Becky George and brother of Luke and Laura. He played varsity football, basketball and ran track while in high school. He’ll be making his family very proud as he’ll be joining the United States Marine Corps upon graduation. He begins basic training in San Diego, Calif., this fall.

Steven is the son of Richard and Genia Ginevan. During high school he was a member of the Gunnison FFA chapter and served as a reporter for three years. In the fall of 2009, he is going to attend Johnson and Wales University in Denver, where he plans to study Criminal Justice. After he graduates college, he plans to get a career in the FBI with hopes of landing a job in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Rosalie is the daughter of Roger and Elizabeth Haga. She and her family moved to Gunnison from La Verne, Calif., in December of her junior year. She played second base for the varsity softball team. This fall, she is going to attend Western State College where she plans to study Pre-Med.

Clancy is the son of Scott and Debbie Harman and was born and raised in Gunnison. During high school he participated in marching band, jazz band, Link Crew and the Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoys fishing, hunting and downhill skiing. This fall, he is going to attend college at the Colorado School of Mines, where he plans to study mechanical or mining engineering.

Lindsay Marie Hart is the daughter of Ted and Angie Hart. During high school she has participated in NHS, volleyball, basketball and track and field. She will be attending Mesa State College with a focus on science. She hopes to continue running track and playing the bassoon.

Brittany Hersberger Brittany Hersberger, daughter of Lyle Hersberger and Dee and Kenny Norleen, sister to Wes Hersberger, and granddaughter of Brenda Hamlett, is proudly graduating high school. Her interests are downhill skiing and motocross. She prefers the company of family and friends. Brittany plans to attend The Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology in Costa Mesa, Calif., and pursue a career in celebrity hairstyling. Branden Jacobson

Phoebe grew up in Gunnison with her parents Shane and Leslie Houseman and younger brother Ian. She plays the oboe and is part of the GHS band that went to the state championship three years in a row. Phoebe also plays the bass guitar and saxophone. Art is another huge part of her life. She has had several pieces in shows at the Gunnison Arts Center. Phoebe wants to pursue art, psychology and continue her music. She has not decided which college offers the best options in those fields.

Caleb Jackson is the son of Michael and Amy Jackson. During high school he participated in baseball, basketball and band. This fall he is going to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango, where he plans to study Business Management. After getting his business degree, he plans to go to Johnson and Wales University in Denver to study culinary arts. He would like to thank his parents for all of their support throughout his life and his brother, Aaron Jackson.

Branden is the son of David and Lisa Jacobson. Throughout high school, he participated in Knowledge Bowl and Stand Up, as well as maintaining a 3.85 GPA, and taking several AP classes. Branden has held a job at his parent’s restaurant for over five years. He plans on attending Fort Lewis College in Durango, where he wishes to study to become a history teacher.

Corbin is the son of Pam and Chip Johnston. During high school he was a member of many activities including National Honor Society, Knowledge Bowl and Choir. He participated in cross country and track and field, and was on varsity all four years. This fall, he will be attending Colorado School of Mines to pursue a major in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Explosives Engineering.

Ian Frase Kahn is the son of Dr. Timothy and Joanne Kahn. He is last in line, behind his three older and beautiful sisters. Throughout Ian’s four years in high school he participated in football, basketball and track and field. On the weekends when he did not have sports, you could find him up in Crested Butte skiing. Next fall he plans on attending Adams State in Alamosa where he hopes to pursue track and field.

Shey is the daughter of Ron and Brenda Kiester and sister to Seth. Shey excelled in running during high school, participating in Varsity Track for four years and Varsity Cross Country for two years. Shey enjoys math, English, and fine arts and plans to attend Montana State University in the fall. Although she has not yet chosen a major, Shey plans to run for MSU’s track team and has been accepted into their Honors program.

Terry Scott Lindsay was born August 22, 1990. Scott is a very outgoing and friendly guy who enjoys volunteering at Six Points. At Gunnison High School, Scott was well known for his participation in GHS TV. Students and staff looked forward to seeing him report the weather every morning on “Scott’s Weather.” Scott Lindsay plans to continue working at Pizza Hut and hopes to someday become a movie critic. Jacqueline and her family have lived in Gunnison for the last 14 years, where she has attended kindergarten through 12th grade. She is the oldest of five children and enjoys spending time with her family. Jac also enjoys playing softball, basketball and loves music. She played both basketball and softball in middle school and all four years of high school. Jac is planning on attending McCook Junior College in McCook, Neb., to play basketball and study music. She intends to major in music education. Jacqueline would like to thank all of the people that have helped her get to this point: teachers, coaches, friends and — most of all — her family.

Dayne Luekenga is the son of Chris and Julie Luekenga. During high school he participated in the Gunnison High School band, Science Olympiad, National Honor Society and his local youth group. He also played guitar for the local band Snow State. Dayne participated in sports, including varsity football and baseball. In the fall, he will be attending Colorado School of Mines where he plans to study either mechanical or civil engineering.

I have been an active member in my high school choir, Unity Club president, and I was the basketball manager the past two years. I have also been active in many Gunnison Arts Center productions. I want to thank all of my friends, family and teachers for all of their support. All of your support has gotten me to where I am now and I am thankful for everything you have done. I’M OUT!

Shane is the son of Tina and David McGuinness. During high school Shane participated in ice hockey, cross country and baseball. Next fall, Shane plans on continuing his hockey experience and by playing Junior Hockey. Shane is not sure where he is playing yet, but he hopes to be playing in the Oregon-Washington area.

Kole is the son of Kelly and Kristie Medina. During high school, Kole was a member of choir for the last two years. Kole participated in football for the first three years and lettered. Kole is going to take a year off before attending Delta Vo-tech school and then Mesa State College the year after, for two years, studying law enforcement.

Bryce Miller is the son of Darrah and Clay Miller and the older brother of Brandon. Throughout all four years of high school, Bryce participated in Cross Country, and lettered three times. Bryce plans on staying home for a year and going to Western State College before pursuing his dream of one day becoming a sports journalist or analyst at a larger school. He is thankful for being able to have grown up in a town as nice as Gunnison and hopes the best for the rest of the class of 2009.

Kelsey is the daughter of Rick and Mary Beth Odom. During high school, she participated in Student Leadership Council, National Honor Society, Link Crew, Art Club, Bella Voice Choir, Concert Choir, and Future Educators of America. She was on the varsity volleyball and swim teams. Kelsey also volunteered for Gunnison Country Partners Youth Mentoring Organization. This fall, she plans on attending the University of Northern Colorado, where she will be majoring in elementary education.

Marcus Piquette

Ryan Pike is the daughter of Mark and Susie Pike and new sister of Preston. She played softball all four years, golf one and part of track one. She hasn’t yet made up her mind what college she will be attending. She will study psychology at whatever university she decides to attend. She will miss living in Gunnison with close friends and family, but has been eager to leave this town and explore new possibilities.

Marcus Piquette is the son of Dan and Shannon Piquette. While attending GHS he was a member of marching band, Science Olympiad, football, basketball, baseball and Link Crew. He enjoys the outdoors and music. He has had the pleasure of being in a local band Snow State. In the fall Marcus will be attending CU Boulder to study Astrophysics.

Emily Raffaelli Emily is the daughter of Marianne Delany and Peter Raffaelli. During high school she was a member of the Varsity softball team. Benjamin Robert Reinhardt

Ben has lived in Gunnison for 18 years and takes advantage of all this valley has to offer. Hunting, fishing, paintballing and rafting are among his favorite activities. He participated in the Trout Unlimited Super Fly competition and served as a Super Fly guide. Ben has mowed lawns in Almont for the past four summers to partially finance his trip to Germany with Frau Treadway and the ‘08 German III and IV students. Ben loves listening to rock-n-roll and has enjoyed taking guitar lessons; however, reading still tops his list of interests. He will probably go down in GHS history as one of the most avid readers ever! He will attend Ft. Lewis College and is thinking he might someday like to work in the field of criminal justice.

Hello everyone, my name is Colton Roper. I was born in Tucson, Ariz., to Ben and Evelyn Roper. And I have lived in Gunnison for 13 years. I have always been into anything that deals with the sky. It started with a love of the weather, for the first few years of my school career. But I as time passed, I moved out a few billion miles. So this fall, I will be attending the University of Arizona, studying Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Amanda Raey Rossman is the daughter of Angela Cannon and Daniel Delbridge and step-daughter to Lance Cannon and granddaughter to Beverly and Ray Rossman. She has been a member on the softball team and has been a Cowboy swimmer and diver. Amanda has also been a member of the band, the choir and the book club. Her favorite subjects are science, math and music. Outside of high school, she has participated in the county 4-H program and volunteered numerous hours to tutoring with Partners and has spent many years on the Alpine Tunnel Restoration project. She plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley to major in Biology and study premed to become a Forensic Pathologist.

Rachael is the daughter of a loving set of parents: Catherine and Vinnie Jakubauskas, and Kevin and Chandra Turner. During high school, she was a member of Dance Team, Book Club, and Future Educators of America. She participated in Band all four years, and went to Select Band, Solo and Ensemble, and Masonic Band Camp. Erik is the son of Douglas and Beverly Seidel. Throughout high school he participated in SLC, NHS, and Link Crew. He was the Senior class president and NHS co-president. He participated in hockey, golf and baseball for four years and was involved in Partners and Courage to Live. He attended the Colorado State Patrol Youth Academy. This summer, he plans to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point or the University of Colorado on a four-year ROTC scholarship.

Kelsey Mariah Sorensen is the daughter of Randy and Kathy Sorensen. While attending Gunnison High School, she has been involved in art, Encore Choir, and academics. She participated in Western Slope Honor Choir all four years, as well as 4-H and a local youth and worship band. She plans on travelling to Peru this summer and attending Oklahoma Baptist University this fall to earn a degree in nursing and continue on to medical school.

Christina Spohr, the daughter of Cindy and Wolfgang Spohr, was born in Wuerzburg, Germany. At age 5, the family moved back to the United States and in 2002 to Gunnison. During her four years at Gunnison High School, Christina has been a member of the Student Leadership Council. She has also participated in the Yearbook, volunteered with Partners, and recently performed in the school play “Cheaper by the Dozen.” Christina played volleyball freshman through junior year and basketball all four years. Christina plans to attend Montana State University in Bozeman. Although she is not ready to declare a major, Christina sees a future in working with people. She is interested in communications and/or education.

Jacob is the son of Zig and Ann Sheaffer. He is a very talented skier and enjoys his free time on the slopes. Jake participated in the school work/study program, where he received credit for working in the cafeteria and at the Gas Cafe. He has worked for CBMR Ski School and Adaptive Sports Center as a ski instructor for children. After graduation, Jake will stay in Crested Butte and be employed by the Colorado Workforce Center.

Alex is the son of Mert and Diane Theaker. In high school he was on the Titan soccer team and played Babe Ruth baseball, where he was the #1 hitter in his district. Alex enjoys playing turntables, skateboarding and snowboarding. After graduation, Alex will be moving to California where he will work for a year before attending college. He plans to study Renewable Resources.

Zach is the son of Al Van Dyke and Laura Helms. During high school he played for the Titan soccer team, Babe Ruth baseball and was the goalie for the Crested Butte Wolfpack. Zach works with his father caretaking The Reserve on the East River. Upon graduation, he will move to Ft. Collins to attend Colorado State University.

Katie is the daughter of Bob and Sherri Vandervoort. Katie played volleyball in high school and was elected captain her senior year and received varsity letters. An avid skier, Katie raced for the Crested Butte Academy and for the Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team in high school. During the summers, she participated and interned with the Creative Arts Institute. She plans to attend the University of Vermont.

Emma is the daughter of Joel and MJ Vosburg. She was involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Living Journeys, Adaptive Sports and Mountain Theater. Emma was chosen All Conference and All State in basketball and went to State in track and cross country. The Denver Post chose Emma as Student of the Week. After graduation, Emma will attend the University of Denver or the University of Virginia where she will study Kinesiology and Business.

John is the son of Mike and Mary Wright. In high school he participated in soccer, Babe Ruth baseball and basketball. John was chosen All Conference in basketball his freshman through senior years and All State and Player of the Year as a senior. He worked for the Town of Crested Butte coaching Little League. Maggie is the daughter of Ron and Bonnie Chlipala. During high school Maggie participated in volleyball, basketball, River Watch, National Honor Society and represented CBCS at the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership conference. She volunteers at the UCC Church and Crested Butte Mountain Theater and worked on Barack Obama’s political campaign. Maggie will be attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, where she will study Inner Disciplinary Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education.

Jeremy is the son of David and Terry Clayton. In high school he played on the Titan soccer team, in which he was chosen All State, and is a member of the Mountain Sports Team, in which he competes in snowboarding. Jeremy was active in his community church before moving to Crested Butte. During the summers he was employed by Alpine Construction and McGill’s Restaurant. Upon graduation, Jeremy will attend Western State College.

Kaitlin is the daughter of John and Lisa Councilman. During high school, Kaitlin participated in volleyball, basketball and dance and was involved with Student Council and National Honor Society. During her spare time, she volunteers for Creative Arts, CB Mountain Theater and teaches dance. Kaitlin will be studying International Affairs and Business at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Maddi was involved in the Save Darfur Campaign, the Obama campaign, Public Policy Forum, and Adaptive Sports. After graduation, she will double major in Human Rights Law and Journalism at the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University in Washington D.C.

Kelli was involved in PTSA, National Honor Society and Student Council. She has been on two missions with the Oh Be Joyful Church, where she has traveled to Tijuana, Mexico. Robbie is the son of Brad and Michele Holleran. In high school he participated in soccer, Babe Ruth baseball, hockey, basketball and played on the Gunnison High School baseball team. Robbie was All Conference in baseball, soccer and basketball and was chosen All State in basketball his senior year. Robbie is employed by Crested Butte Property Management. After graduation, he will attend the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he will study Arts and Science.

Jack is the son of Michael and Perdita Linehan. He was voted All Conference in soccer and won the Blue and Silver award in track. Jack participated in hockey, track, Babe Ruth baseball, National Honor Society and Student Council. He spent 2 years studying in Florence, Italy. Jack will be heading to Boston College in the fall to study International Relations and Mandarin. He will be running for their varsity track and cross country team.

MacKenzie is the daughter of Kate Mailly and Art Thilquist. In high school she was involved with Student Council, National Honor Society and River Watch. MacKenzie made All Conference in volleyball and basketball and participated in cross country, track and the ski team. She was a volunteer for Teens on Stage, Mountain Adventures Kid Camp and KBUT. After graduation, MacKenzie will attend Montana State University in Bozeman, where she will study Environmental Science.

Allie is the daughter of Kristy McFarland and Ethan Hicks. During high school she made All Conference in basketball, was on the track team and practiced in dance. Allie was a volunteer DJ at KBUT and taught dance to little kids. She is employed by the Secret Stash Restaurant. After graduating from high school, Allie will study Fine Arts at Western Washington University in Bellingham.

Sydney is the daughter of Sissy Mahoney and Jamie Rosen. She has been an invaluable volunteer with the Adaptive Sports program. During high school, Sydney worked for the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Clark’s Market. After graduation, Sydney will head to southwest Colorado to become a Skyhawk at Ft. Lewis College in Durango. She will be majoring in Environmental Studies.

Chris is the son of Jim and Sharon Sharpe. During high school he participated in National Honor Society, Babe Ruth baseball and basketball, where he was voted All Conference. Chris has volunteered for Adaptive Sports, the Crested Butte Fire Department and P.A.W.S. He worked for the Town of Crested Butte coaching Little League baseball and is currently doing software development. Chris will attend the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he will major in Aerospace Engineering.
