Jamie Monroe comes to his practice of working with metal as a craftsman and blacksmith. His work exhibits the technical mastery and precision of a craftsman, with the inventiveness of an artist. His Bell Sculptures marry repurposed components with forged steel in an amazing demonstration of skill and lucidity with the media. Pattern and texture enliven every component of these pieces, inspiring us to refer to Jamie as a “hot metal artist, in more ways than one! Many of his pieces can also live outside, but they would be equally at home in any elegant interior environment. Jamie holds a BA in studio art from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. He lives and works in Colorado.
GVG Contemporary is a gallery showcasing painting, sculpture, fine art furniture, and artist-made jewelry on the corner of historic Canyon Road and Delgado Street in Santa Fe, New Mexico, owned by husband-andwife local artist team Ernst Gruler and Blair Vaughn-Gruler.
