Nurse.org, research nurses develop and implement studies to investigate and provide information on new medications, vaccinations and medical procedures. Research nurses, sometimes referred to as clinical nurse researchers or nurse researchers, typically have advanced degrees, and many first work as research assistants, clinical data collectors and/or clinical research monitors to gain some practical experience as they pursue or consider pursuing their degrees. Some research nurses even conduct independent research, though Nurse.org notes that such professionals need advanced degrees such as an MSN or Ph.D. to pursue such a path. More information about becoming a research nurse can be found at www.Nurse.org.

Mateo

He is 5 months old and adopted from Pet Pride in Victor. He quickly took over command of the house and his new bestie, Chai. He spends his days wrestling with her and finding the best napping spots. His little personality is emerging and while he loves to play and craves action, he’s also an amazing cuddler.

PAW’S CORNER

One-on-one personal attention. Let us pamper your pet in our mobile unit! PUPPY

Servicing the City of Batavia 585-682-3219 anitaspuppypalace.com

DEAR PAW'S CORNER: I recently visited an older relative who owns two dogs. Here in the Northeast, air conditioning isn’t common in older houses, and it’s been fairly hot for the past several weeks. When I went in, I saw both her dogs were lying down and panting because it was so warm inside. ere was no water for them, so I filled up their bowls and added a couple of ice cubes to each one. ey both drank nearly all the water. Please remind your readers that heat is dangerous for pets of all kinds, and even if they’re at home and indoors, they’re at risk. Sign me -- Concerned Cousin in Manchester, New Hampshire

DEAR CONCERNED: ank you. You just reminded them, and you’re absolutely right. Water needs to be available to pets at all times, indoors or out.

Heat injuries are no joke. ey can permanently injure or kill pets (and people). While much attention has been given to not keeping pets inside cars during the warm months, there are more danger areas to be aware of.

- If your dog is out in the yard, make sure they have a shady area to rest with plenty of fresh, cold water. Monitor them frequently: every 10 to 15 minutes.

- Homes without air conditioning can get very hot and stuffy, endangering pets of all types. Maintain airflow at all times with a fan and open windows, and always have water available.

When a pet shows signs of heat stress -- panting, lying down, whining or mewing -- get them to a cooler room immediately. If they don’t improve, contact the veterinarian.

EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY

Homemade hummus with truly unique taste

Hummus provides a delicious and healthy alternative to less nutritional dips. Versatile and available in various flavors, hummus can be whipped up at home for those who prefer to make their own dips. The following recipe for “Garbanzo-Carrot Hummus with Grilled Yogurt Flatbread” from James Campbell Caruso’s “España: Explore the Flavors of Spain” (Gibbs Smith) includes some Moroccan flavors that give this easy-toprepare recipe a truly unique taste.

Garbanzo-Carrot Hummus with Grilled Yogurt Flatbread

Makes 2 cups

2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped

Salt

1 cup cooked garbanzo beans, drained

4 teaspoons chopped cilantro plus 1 teaspoon for garnish

2 tablespoons chopped red onion

21/2 teaspoons ground cumin

11/2 teaspoons ground coriander seeds

2 tablespoons lemon juice

4 teaspoons olive oil

2 teaspoons chile flakes

2 teaspoons Moroccan Spice Blend (see below)

Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper

1 batch Yogurt Flatbread (see below)

In a medium saucepan, combine the carrots with 2 quarts water and 2 teaspoons salt. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce the heat and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, until the carrots are tender. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the carrots to drain and cool in a colander.

Combine carrots and remaining ingredients, except for Yogurt Flatbread, in the work bowl of a food processor and puree until smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper and garnish with the remaining cilantro. Serve with fresh, hot Yogurt Flatbread cut in wedges.

Moroccan Spice Blend

Makes about 2 tablespoons

In a small resealable glass or plastic container, combine 1 teaspoon each of: ground cumin, ground turmeric, saffron threads, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, ground smoked paprika, finely grated lemon peel.

Yogurt Flatbread

Serves 4

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon coarse salt

21/2 cups plain yogurt

Olive oil

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into the work bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook. Add the yogurt and mix on low speed for 2 minutes. Cover the work bowl and allow the dough to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Preheat a gas or charcoal grill to medium. Scrape the dough from the work bowl and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a long log and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and use a rolling pin or tortilla press to flatten it into a 1/4-inch-thick tortilla shape. Brush each “tortilla” lightly with olive oil. Grill each for about 40 seconds then turn and cook another 40 seconds.

HOW SMALL BUSINESSES CAN MAKE THE MOST OF LOCAL MARKETS

Balance engagement with patience: NFIB® recommends that business owners tone down their sales efforts without coming off as disengaged. Warmly welcome visitors to the booth or stall and express a willingness to discuss products customers appear interested in. But keep in mind that many people attend festivals and marketplaces to browse, so give them space after welcoming them to the booth.

POISON PREVENTION TIPS

Handle foods properly. Foods must be properly stored at the correct temperature and cooked to a safe level.Always wash fresh fruits and vegetables with running water.Never use commercial cleaning products on foods or food packaging. Always wash hands and counters before preparing food. Promptly refrigerate or freeze foods if they will be saved as leftovers, as bacteria can grow quickly at room temperature.

A Winning Summer Reading Program

Thanks to the Rush Public Library staff for a wonderful summer reading program. Readers had lots of books to choose from even with the kids’ book section being closed for repairs. The staff is so enthusiastic and friendly—they are special people! Thanks!

A Huge THANK YOU

In these times of rising food prices, it is so wonderful to see all the items that the Avon community donates to the Avon Food Pantry. They give not only non-perishable foods but toiletries, laundry soaps and overages from their garden. It is heart warming to see all the items coming in to help people in need.

A big THANK YOU to all.

Went to CHURCH rummage sale just a few minutes ago. It started at 8. I was the last person in line. Myself and the lady in front of me had to take our time going down two flights of stairs. Over 10 people found out the books were upstairs and made their way past us, almost knocking into us. Then a lady blocked the jewelry spot and no one was able to look. I was pushed again, so I paid for my 2 items and said “Sorry, I’m getting pushed around too much to look further.” The next person in line was a collector. The lady who was taking the money said “I marked these and they weren’t $2.00 each.” He said “it’s what’s marked,” and she said “Ok. Why?” It was a CHURCH trying to raise some money. How do you live with yourself? The cashier even said that wasn’t the price, he didn’t care. I left but paid what the price was. How do you cheat a church?

Balloon Releases Should Be Illegal

I think balloon releases should be illegal. Look it up: the harmful effects of balloon releases. Also you can look up ecofriendly alternatives to balloon releases. Remember, birds, fish, turtles, pets or any animal in the world can suffer due to balloon releases.

TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH

Botox Injections Used to Treat Overactive Bladder

DEAR DR. ROACH: In two weeks, I am supposed to get Botox injections for my overactive bladder (OAB) and my frequent need to urinate at nighttime. Are these injections safe? Are there any bad side effects? How long do they work? -- D.J.

ANSWER: The initial treatment for OAB symptoms usually consists of lifestyle changes (i.e., quitting smoking and avoiding medications that worsen symptoms at night), pelvic floor muscle exercises, and bladder training. If these are ineffective, medication is often used. If medications don’t work or cannot be tolerated, additional treatments are considered, such as Botox.

Salmon Orthodontics

5A Batavia City Centre 116 North Center St. 16 Broadway Mall Batavia Perry Hornell (585)344-0775 (585)237-2410 (607)324-3784

The underlying problem with an OAB are uncontrolled bladder spasms. Botox is a powerful suppressor of muscle activity. If just the right amount is used, the excess muscle spasms are reduced, and the person gets good results. However, if too much is used, the person may not be able to urinate spontaneously at all, so your urologist will be giving you instructions on how to self-catheterize, in case you are unable to void your bladder after the injection.

If you note that the leakage has worsened a week or so after the procedure, this is a big clue that the bladder is not functioning after the injection. This can last for months, but typically no more than three months. Fortunately, this complication happens uncommonly, in about 2%-7% of people. Other complications include infections and bleeding, but these are not common. Antibiotics are given to reduce the risk of infection. Very rarely, muscles outside of the bladder are affected, including generalized weakness and eye muscle weakness.

When it works well, most people start noticing benefit in a week or so, and relief typically lasts 9-12 months before another injection is given.

*** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Readers may email questions to ToYourGoodHealth@med.cornell.edu.

Dental implants and dentures are two common solutions for restoring lost teeth and chewing surfaces. Implantsupported overdentures offer a third option by using elements of both to replace several teeth at once. Traditional dentures rest on top of your gums, while implant-supported dentures use implants to attach directly to the jawbone. Dental implants are threaded anchors embedded in your jawbone to replace the roots of missing teeth. When dentures attach to these anchors, they provide additional stability and support. Implant-supported dentures can be fixed or removable. The latter allows you to remove the dentures for cleaning as needed at home. Fixed dentures (sometimes called hybrid dentures) can’t be removed at home but can be removed by your dentist if needed.

If one or more of your teeth have been lost to damage or decay, prompt

attention with various forms of dentures, implants, crowns and bridges, or other methods of repair will prevent additional, perhaps bigger and more painful problems later on. Visit your dentist on a regular basis and practice good home oral hygiene. It will pay off in the long run. If you don’t have a family dentist at this time, we invite you to BATAVIA FAMILY DENTAL, 6 Batavia City Centre. We have convenient office hours by appointment. Call 585.343.4246 - we’ll give you a reason to smile!

P.S. Implant-supported overdentures are best for groups of missing teeth, but you must have enough bone in your jaw to support the dental implants.

RECOGNIZE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS

Air fresheners: These seemingly innocuous products may be doing more harm than good. Information published in a 2015 issue of The Journal of Toxicological Sciences linked air fresheners to volatile organic compounds, or VOCs. They also may contain ultra-fine particles of formaldehyde and phenol. In addition, National Geographic’s The Green Guide states that many air fresheners contain nerve-deadening chemicals that coat nasal passages and temporarily block one’s sense of smell. Many widely available air fresheners use phthalates, which are linked to hormonal and reproductive issues, birth defects and developmental disorders. In lieu of chemical air fresheners, spray diluted essential oils around the house.

Here’s A Tip

* Repair enlarged screw holes with a wooden golf tee. Use a hack saw to saw it flush, sand and finish!

* Punch holes in paint can rims with a nail so the paint that gets sloshed on the rim will drain back into the can. To seal the can, wipe the rim with a damp cloth, and rub it with a little petroleum jelly and cover with a piece of plastic wrap and tap the lid back into place.

* While boating or fishing, tape small blocks of Styrofoam to your eyeglass arms so they will float if they go overboard. -- R.D. in Florida

INFLUENTIAL JAZZ MUSICIANS

Bessie Smith (1894-1937): While there are female instrumentalists in the genre of jazz, in the early days many, such as Bessie Smith, were vocalists. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Smith would come to be known as “Empress of the Blues” thanks to her powerful voice. By the 1920s, Smith was among the highest paid black performers. Tragically, Smith’s life was cut short when she died from injuries sustained in a car crash on her way to a show in Memphis in 1937.

(Family Features) Here are three things you can do to help protect your mobile devices and your identity: Password protect your device. A recent study by Javelin Strategy and Research found that even though many smartphones are being used to handle sensitive financial information, only 33 percent of smartphone owners password-protect their devices. If your phone falls into the wrong hands, you could make it very easy for someone to access your personal information and steal your identity.

Review your social network privacy settings. It’s not just advertisers taking advantage of the personal information you include on your social network sites. As the use of social networking continues to increase, it’s expected that the use of malware will rise, too. Cybercriminals are always looking for ways to steal information and money. So you need to review your privacy settings frequently, be careful of what apps you install, and never “friend” someone you don’t know.

Consider getting extra protection. There are a growing number of tools available to help you monitor and protect your identity as well as restore your name and credit, should your identity get stolen. For example, Mobile Rhino is a specialty insurance program that not only insures your device, but also offers an Identity Monitoring Service that alerts you of any changes that could indicate someone else is using your information.

CONSIDERATIONS WHEN CHOOSING CARPETING

When the time comes to choose flooring for their homes, homeowners may be overwhelmed by the vast array of options at their disposal. The choice between carpet and hardwood flooring, laminate or tile is a matter of personal preference. People have long extolled the virtues of hardwood flooring, but carpeting can be just as stylish and provides a host of other benefits as well.

Carpeting insulates rooms in the summer and winter, adding that extra level of protection against the elements. Carpeting also absorbs sound in a home. Many appreciate the warmth and cozy feeling of carpet, especially when stepping out of bed. Carpeting also can increase the level of safety at home. According to the Carpet and Rug Institute, carpeting makes areas of play safer and may also reduce the severity of an injury in the event of a fall.

Today, there are many different types of carpeting available. Selecting the right carpeting for a room comes down to identifying the level of traffic in a particular room, the attributes homeowners would like the carpet to have and any other needs that fit with their lifestyles.

Take time when shopping for carpeting, which is a

investment that can last for many years if the

material is chosen and installed correctly.

the benefits of

activities extend beyond beating boredom. A 2011 analysis published in the journal BBA Molecular Basis of Disease found that leisure activities have a positive impact on cognitive function and dementia. The analysis, conducted by researchers with the Aging Research Center in Stockholm who examined various studies regarding the relationship between certain activities and cognitive function, defined leisure activity as the voluntary use of free time for activities outside the home. After retirement, leisure time constitutes a large part of many retirees’ lives, and finding ways to fill that time is more beneficial than merely avoiding boredom. The researchers behind the study concluded that the existing research is insufficient to draw any firm conclusions regarding the effects of certain types of leisure activities on the risk for dementia and cognitive decline, though they did note that multi-domain cognitive training has the potential to improve cognitive function in healthy older adults and slow decline in affected individuals. A multi-domain approach to cognitive training involves memory, reasoning, problem-solving, and map reading, among other activities. Aging adults who embrace activities that require the use of such skills may find that they’re not only finding stimulating ways to fill their free time, but increasing their chances of long-term cognitive health as well.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, well-designed landscapescansavehomeowners enough energy to make the projectspayforthemselvesinless than eight years. The DOE notes that homeowners’ landscaping strategies should be dictated by the climates in which they live. For example, homeowners who live in hot, arid regions should employ landscapes to shade their homes’ walls, windows and roof, while those who live in cool regions should make sure their landscapes are not blocking the winter sun from reaching their homes’ south-facing windows. TheDOEalsoadvisesthatshading is the most cost-effective way to reduce solar heat gain in a home, noting that well-planned landscapescanreducepreviously unshaded homes’ air conditioning costs by as much as 50 percent. The DOE also notes that, in treeshaded neighborhoods, summer daytime air temperature can be up to six degrees cooler than the air temperature in treeless areas. Homeowners considering adding trees to their landscapes should know that deciduous trees shed their leaves annually, which meanstheywillblocksolarheatin the summer but allow sunlight into the home in winter. That’s ideal for homeowners who live in regions where temperatures climb in summertimebutdropconsiderably in winter. Homeowners who want year-round shade might consider evergreen trees and shrubs.

6 FACTS ABOUT WATERMELONS

Watermelons provide cooling, juicy refreshment during the warm days of summer. But while they’re most associated with summer, watermelons can typically be found in grocery stores yearround. Watermelons are members of the cucurbitaceae family, which includes other gourds, such as pumpkin, squash and cucumber. Watermelons can be considered a fruit or a vegetable. In some areas of the world, watermelons are considered a fruit used primarily in snacks and desserts. In Russia, watermelon rind is pickled, while some Asian countries stir-fry or stew watermelons. To quench one’s curiosity about watermelons, the following are six facts about this beloved food, courtesy of The Watermelon Board.

STRANGE BUT TRUE

* In the 1880s, businessman LaMarcus Thompson was so upset over the temptations presented by saloons and brothels that he decided to clean up what he viewed as one of America’s most immoral places—New York’s Coney Island. To that end he built the country’s first roller coaster in a bid to give folks some good, clean fun well away from sleazier pursuits.

1. Washing watermelons before cutting into them will help prevent the transfer of any dirt or bacteria into the fleshy center.

2. An average 15- to 20-pound watermelon offers 90 6-ounce servings.

3. Watermelons grow in warm climates and are harvested from Florida to Guatemala. Residents of the United States who want to enjoy domestically grown watermelons should look for them in June, July and August.

4. Seedless watermelons contain small, white “seeds.” These are actually seed coats that didn’t fully form. Crossing watermelons that are a diploid plant (having two sets of chromosomes) with a tetraploid plant (having four sets of chromosomes) will form a fruit with a triploid seed three sets of chromosomes). It’s the triploid that produces seedless watermelons.

5. Whole watermelons do not necessarily need to be refrigerated. But once cut, any remaining pieces should be refrigerated.

6. Watermelons are 92 percent water, and they’re the perfect carrying case for beverages. Early explorers even used watermelons as canteens.

Breeze Brings Stories to Life with Her Flute

Traveling to the quiet corners of libraries across Rochester, the anticipation is palpable. Wide-eyed children gather on colorful rugs, their attention riveted on a young woman with a twinkle in her eye and a flute cradled lovingly in her hands. Jaclyn Breeze is a gi ed composer and flutist whose passion for music and storytelling has enchanted audiences far and wide.

Breeze has always had a deep connection to music. Known for unique compositions that bridge the gap between modern composition and classical jazz harmony, Breeze’s works have been described as “inspiring, accessible, and distinctly her own,” a testament to her ability to cra pieces that resonate with a wide range of listeners. Her compositions have been performed by groups across North America, Europe, and Asia, with notable performances by the Balance Campaign and the Society for New Music, among others.

Jaclyn’s musical journey is rich and varied. She holds a Master of Music in Composition from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Science in Flute Performance from Roberts Wesleyan University. As a flutist, she is passionate about commissioning new pieces and performing the works of living composers. To date, she has commissioned nine new works and performed thirteen world premieres, showcasing the extensive capabilities of the flute and fostering conversations with her audiences. She currently serves as pianist and choir director of Holley Presbyterian Church.

Currently, Jaclyn’s focus is on a younger crowd. Inspired by the success of her last program, “Imitations,” where she explored the flute’sabilitytomimicsounds such as butterflies and trains, Jaclynhascreatedachildren’s program, a delightful blend of storytelling and music designed to introduce young audiences to the magic of the flute in an engaging and fun way.

With the help of her friendsandfellowcomposers

Paul Berlinsky and Dustin Dunn, Jaclyn cra ed a series of pieces that follow three beloved fairytales: “ e Pied Piper,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” and “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Each story is followed by a solo flute piece, bringing the tales to life in a way that words alone cannot.

She explains, “I wanted to create a program that would be familyoriented, where children could hear stories they love and listen to music that brings those stories to life. It’s a fun way to introduce them to the flute.”

Next, Jaclyn tells the story of “Little Red Riding Hood” with a rendition that’s lively and filled with suspense, the children leaning in, eyes wide with anticipation. Jaclyn’s own composition follows, capturing the whimsy and danger of the tale, and demonstrating the flute’s ability to convey a wide range of emotions and scenes.

Finally, Jaclyn recounts the adventure of “Jack and the Beanstalk.” e children giggle at Jack’s antics and gasp at the giant’s roar. Dustin Dunn’s piece for this story is playful and bold, reflecting Jack’s courage and cleverness as he climbs the beanstalk and outwits the giant.

As the final notes of her flute dri away, Jaclyn is met with a chorus of claps and cheers. e children’s faces are lit with wonder and excitement, and many rush up to her with questions and comments. She greets them with a warm, welcoming smile, ready to foster the next generation of music lovers.

Jaclyn’s goal for this program is clear-- introducing children to the flute in a way that is both fun and educational. She says, “I want them to see all the cool things a flute can do and to leave feeling like they’ve learned something.” Her enthusiasm is infectious, and it’s evident that she loves engaging with her audience, answering questions, and sharing her passion for music.

Jaclyn Breeze is not just a performer; she is a storyteller, an educator, and an inspiration. rough innovative programs and engaging performances, she makes a lasting impact on her community, one note at a time.

Check out Rush Library (8/15 at 6:30pm) or Irondequoit Library (8/23 at 10:30am) for Jaclyn Breeze’s final programs. Or visit www.jaclynbreeze.com for more information on her upcoming events.

As the children gather around, Jaclyn begins with “ e Pied Piper,” a tale of mystery and magic. Her flute mimics the enchanting melodies that lured the children of Hamelin, captivating the young audience. e piece, composed by Paul Berlinsky, showcases techniques that go beyond the flute’s traditional sounds, leaving the children in awe.

Acknowledge that you can’t run like a robot. The human body does not do well with prolonged multitasking. One of the strategies for being more productive is to work for an hour to an hour and a half, then take a break.

EXPLORE WORK WITH CONFIDENCE

(NAPSI)—With unemployment at a 50-year low, companies are eager to draw talent from a diverse pool of job seekers, and organizations have recognized the inherent value in a diverse workforce that includes qualified employees with disabilities.

Yet, for many who rely on Social Security disability benefits for income and Medicare or Medicaid, work seems like a gamble. What most people don’t know is that there are free services and supports available for those who qualify.

Social Security’sTicket toWork (Ticket) program and otherWork Incentives can help take the guesswork out of finding or returning to work. More than 20 Work Incentives are designed to help individuals who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) due to a disability, transition to the workplace without immediately losing those benefits. Because each person’s circumstances are different, job seekers are encouraged to consult a certified Benefits Counselor, who can help them make informed decisions about employment and benefits.

Through the Ticket program, people ages 18 through 64 who receive SSDI or SSI can receive free job-related services and supports. Whether they work with their state’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) agency or with authorized service providers called Employment Networks (EN), people can find the resources they need to prepare for, find and maintain employment.

For individuals such as Shirley, this can mean exploring work with confidence. When Shirley was diagnosed with narcolepsy, her doctors advised her stop working.

“It was distressing to lose that sense of control over my life,” she recalls. “…[and] stressful making ends meet on an SSDI check.”

It took several years to find effective treatment, but Shirley was determined to regain her well-being and that feeling of self-determination she had lost. “Narcolepsy is not something that just goes away,” she says. “But I’ve learned to make adjustments… [and] work around the disability.”

Once she felt ready, Shirley attended a job fair where she learned about the Ticket program and connected with an EN. With their help and encouragement, Shirley found work in her State’s General Services Administration, where she helps ensure small businesses are represented on state contracts.

“I’m grateful for the help I received through Ticket to Work,” she reflects. “It feels wonderful to have my independence back! I feel like I can rely on myself again.”

To learn more, call the Ticket to Work Help Line at 1-866-968-7842 or 1-866-833-2967 (TTY). Or visit www.choosework.ssa.gov.

GET A HANDLE ON WORK-RELATED STRESS

Speak up about your stress. As noted, stress at the workplace can affect workers’ performance, which employers are looking to optimize. Workers can speak to their employers if they feel their work environments are conducive to stress. Work in tandem with an employer to develop time-saving strategies that make it easier to get work done on time. Supervisors may encourage employees to delegate more often, freeing up time to get their work done. Employers may also direct employees to wellness resources that can help them more effectively combat stress. The outcomes of such discussions may never be known if workers never take the initiative and speak up about their stress.

EARLY TREATMENT KEY TO MANAGING SEASONAL DISEASES IN CATTLE

(NAPSI) — Two of the more common production-impacting health issues cattlemen see in their herds this time of year are foot rot and pinkeye. Left untreated, each can lead to more serious, chronic health problems. Foot rot, pinkeye and other common cattle ailments are highly dependent on pasture, weather and other conditions. Foot rot is more problematic when cattle are kept in wet, muddy and manure-heavy lots. Caused by the Fusobacterium Necrophorum bacteria, symptoms include swelling and inflammation between the toes, resulting in lameness and reluctance to walk.

Pinkeye is a highly infectious eye condition that can affect cattle of all ages, often on tall-grass pastures and in environmental situations that can irritate the eye. Flies are a major irritant and vector for the disease, so controlling them and other sources of irritant is critical. Delayed treatment of pinkeye can result in loss of the eye, reduced performance and a less marketable animal.

Fortunately, with timely surveillance and treatment, these infections, along with other diseases, can be easily and cost-effectively managed by producers with a non-prescription injectable product such as Noromycin 300 LA, a highly concentrated, lowdose, fast-acting formulation of oxytetracycline. Effectively used by cattlemen for many years, it is widely available through most farm and veterinary supply companies. Learn more at www.norbrook.com.
