Time to Start Up Your Fireplace? READ THESE TIPS BEFORE YOUR FIRST FIRE!
INSPECT VENTS Have the venting system inspected by a qualified technician. With a flashlight, check for corrosion, rust spots, streaks, and holes as well as debris, birds’ nests, and anything else. ASSESS STRUCTURE Inspect for condensation and examine joints and mechanical supports to ensure nothing is loose. CHECK BAT TERIES Check the batteries on your fireplace’s handheld remote control and its receiver, if applicable. BROKEN LOGS If yours is a log fireplace, ensure no logs are broken. Broken logs must be replaced by proper replacement logs in the position shown in diagrams under Log Installation so as not to void warranty. FIRST BURN The first time you burn your fireplace, burn for at least four hours to ensure the paint is cured. Condensation on the glass is normal. VENTILATE The unit may cause an odor when first used, and smoke detectors may go off. Open a window for ventilation. CLEAN GLASS Do not burn in the unit without the glass door in place. A film can form on the glass, which should be cleaned after the four hours of burning. Do not attempt to clean the glass while it is still hot! |Buffalo 3 7 THEHOMEPUBLICATIONS.COM | THEHOMEPUBLICATIONS.COM Rochester

Our Commitment Makes the Difference At Oak Knolls Manor, we pride ourselves on building relationships with our clients. From your initial tour to the completion of your event, you will work hand in hand with the owners to create a day that is as unforgettable as the two of you. Our business model is built around a very simple concept: we do a few things, but we do them very well. We host ONE EVENT per weekend from May through October. This allows our clients the opportunity to slow down with their family and friends and create a destination wedding that no one will forget. This approach gives their day meaning and fosters individuality to allow them to create a unique experience for their guests. Having time during the week with access to the venue and constant communication with the owners allows our clients, the caterer, and their other service providers ample time to setup and prepare for your event so that no detail goes unnoticed.
With a seating capacity of 250, the main barn is perfect for all types of destination events. Our Wells Barn, built in the early 1900s, is one of the few remaining barns built by J.T. Wells & Sons that is still standing. We have invested significant time, money, and most importantly heart, into rehabilitating this structure. The attention to detail found in the 36-foot-high arched cathedral ceiling is breathtaking. We offer one of the largest Wells Barns in Western New York, a Bridal Suite in our farmhouse on premise, ample parking with easy access to our facility, and picturesque views throughout the Barn, and from the decks overlooking the Genesee Valley. Additionally, we are ADA compliant, offer newly constructed indoor restroom facilities, and options for wedding ceremonies complete with several event layouts. Photos by Larry Tetamore and Destiny Burke
We strive to provide you with a meticulously maintained property, giving you the ability to create your vision. Our goal is to have every client feel like they have been thoroughly cared for and listened to, not forced into a formula that may not work for them or their budget.
Host your event at Oak Knolls Manor where you are more than just a number, you become a part of the Oak Knolls family!

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
BE A BLESSING BUFFALO SPREADS CHRISTMAS JOY On Christmas Day 2018, Kate Tolley-Gerlach’s father, John Tolley, awoke with an epiphany. “My father woke up on Christmas morning and said, ‘This is insane. We are losing the fact that this day is about Jesus,’” recalled TolleyGerlach. While the family chose to still give small gifts to one another, they decided that rather than focusing on their own gifting, they would adopt a local family in need.
That Christmas, the Tolley’s adopted a struggling family and never looked back. “The family we adopted moved out of a shelter into housing and are doing really well,” shared Tolley-Gerlach. “All these years later, we still see them and adopt them every Christmas.” Her dad was overjoyed. “He said, ‘Aren’t you just so much more fulfilled?’” Tolley-Gerlach said. Little did they realize Be a Blessing Buffalo, previously Christmas Blessing Buffalo, was born. Sadly, John Tolley passed away in his sleep the following June. Tolley-Gerlach could not imagine giving back at Christmas without him. “I told my mom I co couldn’t do it,” she said. “She said that since Christmas is all about si giving back, how could we not gi do it?” 16 THEHOMEPUBLICATIONS.COM | Buffalo
So, Kate Tolley-Gerlach, her mother, and her sisters, Courtney and Abby Tolley, began to plan. Mrs. Tolley worked at a mission in Buffalo, so they decided to start by calling homeless shelters. “No one chooses homelessness,” shared Tolley-Gerlach. “People do the best they can with the cards they are dealt.” On Christmas morning 2019 in Buffalo, 150 children opened their eyes to a better hand than they’d had the night before.
Then 2020 brought the Covid-19 pandemic and new challenges. People were unemployed or working with a lot less income, and suddenly, they found themselves in need of help. Unsurprisingly, holiday need was at an all-time high, and Be a Blessing Buffalo (then Christmas Blessing Buffalo) rose to the occasion. Working with Code Blue of WNY, Be a Blessing Buffalo filled 175 backpacks on December 23rd with necessities—hats, gloves, gift cards for food, and more—for both men and women. The newly christened nonprofit also purchased gifts for 250 struggling men, women, and children. “A lot of people we helped you would never know were in need just by looking with the naked eye,” said ju Tolley-Gerlach. “There were families facing adversity that had never had to ask for help before. Now, a lot of those families have
made it through and are asking to adopt families themselves!” Be a Blessing Buffalo will need every one of those families and more to reach their goal of helping over 1,000 local people in need this Christmas, including those with Code Blue of WNY. “This will be our biggest push ever! We are going to start our GoFundMe during Thanksgiving, and we’re partnering with at least 30 local businesses,” said Tolley-Gerlach. Partner businesses host bins and often offer perks like discounted classes and specials for donations. Sweet Buffalo has supported the charity since its inception in 2019. Owner Kimberly LaRussa shares a personal connection to the nonprofit. “She is best friends with my dad’s childhood best friend’s daughter!” shared Tolley-Gerlach. While businesses play a crucial role, every person and family is important.
In the face of success, Kate Tolley-Gerlach, an event planner and organizer, remains humble. “God has given me a gift; I am a vessel,” she explained. “We are a faith-based organization, and my family and I do what we do on earth to make our Father proud. I saw the other side of life through what my parents allowed me to see. Now, we are here to help anyone who needs it.” Giving has made a lasting impact on TolleyGerlach. “It still makes me emotional when I think of all the little Thank You cards we have received,” she said. “The gratitude of a child old enough to realize that their mother is nervous about Christmas…those children who—on their whole wishlist—just ask for something to give their mom…those are the ones that stick with you.”
Be a Blessing Buffalo plans to begin adopting children for their birthdays as well, giving each child a cake and a gift. This Christmas and in its future endeavors, Gerlach-Tolley believes there is only one way to reach these goals. “The only way Be a Blessing has ever worked is as a community,” she said. “Every donation, every dollar matters. We just want to thank the Buffalo community because without them, this would not have been possible!” For more information, to donate, or to recommend a family in need, visit beablessingbuffalo.com, call 716-548-8431, or email beablessingbuffalo@gmail.com
Be a Blessing Buffalo gifts are funded by donations and purchased from the wishlists of children in need who are “adopted,” often as whole families. The wishlists come from everywhere—local teachers, the community, homeless shelters, organizations supporting children with terminal illnesses, and other organizations serving those in need. They share the child’s first name, age, what they love, what they really wish they could have, and more. “We filled thousands of carts, and every time a list would come in, we were able to get the items on it…multiple gifts per child!” shared Tolley-Gerlach. “Our friends and family and our community are literally incredible!” she continued, noting Buffalo is called the City of Good Neighbors. “Last year, my small house in North Buffalo was so full of donations we couldn’t walk in it. My husband and dog had to stay at my in-laws’ house, and we were literally wrapping gifts on my outdoor deck in December!” THEHOMEPUBLICATIONS.COM |Buffalo 17

GA R LAN DS When it comes to garlands, keep the color palette simple. Sticking to one to three colors prevents the mantel from looking too busy and creates a visual balance with proportion, height, and scale.
1 “During the holiday season, the fireplace is the focal point of the room. I find it calming to have light, soft colors and neutrals to work around.” - Emily
Creative tip!
Try out vintage items found around the house like serving trays or candlesticks to add a pop or accent with silver and gold. For Thanksgiving this year, Fee featured dried magnolia leaves because of their neutral color but bold, varying texture. “It helps make the mantel look thick and dense without doing too much.”
“This year I am taking more of a calm and neutral approach to my manTEL displays. This time of year can get quite chaotic, so having a calming place for your eyes to land and for your family to gather around is so important to me.”

Holidays are a break from the hectic hustle and bustle of everyday life. They’re also the time during which we gather around the fire on a cold night as we sip our hot cocoa. A decorated mantel also adds a personal flair with an echo of peace on earth.
Mantel Decorating Tips! Soft tones paired with a burst of color make this fall mantelpiece a focal point without being overwhelming! Even without the traditional red and green scheme, this classy neutral palette still feels merry and bright! Wood carvings add depth without being too aggressive. A colorful wreath helps to ring in the new year with metallic tones. Metal and crystal can help offset greens and cast a warm glow for the holidays.
a favorite holiday tradition “Last year we started a new christmas tradition, Jolabokaflod, The IcelandIC tradition of giving books on Christmas Eve. Sounds simple but the thought of supporting local book stores and spending the day reading together gives me all the holiday feelings!” - Emily
what is
jolabokaflod?
Jolabokaflod (pronounced yo-la-bok-a-flot) is the Icelandic tradition of gifting books on Christmas Eve. Roughly translating to “Christmas book flood,” Jolabokaflod first began when paper was one of the few commodities not being rationed during World War II, and as a result, Icelanders would give books the night before Christmas. They would spend the rest of their evenings reading, a practice that is still present in the culture today. So, before those presents appear under the tree or in those stockings hung by the chimney with care, spread some Christmas cheer by checking out a local bookstore for the next best page turner. Who knows? This might just become one of your favorite holiday traditions!

A Holiday Message F RO M PSYC HI C M E D I UM K A RY N R E EC E As the holidays draw near, we fill our hearts and our homes with family, friends, traditions, and joy. For those who are mourning the loss of a loved one, the holiday season may feel anything but joyous. Although we mourn the loss of our loved ones year-round, the now empty—once filled—seat at our holiday dinner table serves as a reminder that our loved ones are physically no longer with us. No matter how much time passes, that empty chair is hard to fill, knowing who once sat there.

What many don’t see is what I see. Like Haley Joel Osment in the movie The Sixth Sense, “I see dead people.” As a celebrity psychic medium, I have been seeing the souls of the departed and predicting the future my entire life. I don’t know any different. You may see an empty chair. However, I see a chair filled with the souls of your loved ones enjoying their holiday with those they love most. When a loved one crosses over to the other side, they are able to reflect and learn many valuable lessons that they did not know during their time here on Earth. Often times, they use a medium, such as myself, to pass on those lessons to their loved ones still on this Earthly plane. These lessons are not only powerful but also meaningful. This holiday season, I want to bring you into my world. I want to give you the gift of those in spirit and allow you to see the biggest life lesson they want their loved ones here on Earth to understand. Their hope is that you, too, can heal and better your life and the lives of those around you. Honor me instead of remember me. For those in spirit, it is as simple as that. For us here in the physical world, those six words may seem near impossible. The difference between the word “honor” and the word “remember” comes down to intention. Remembering is often correlated to a somber recalling, whereas honoring is correlated to a positive tribute. Your passed loved ones want you to continue to make their favorite dishes, share your favorite memories, and even display old family pictures. They want you to speak of them in the present tense rather than in the past tense. After all, they are celebrating with you, just in a different way. What upsets our departed loved ones the most is when we stop living once their soul moves on. Why should we stop living when they continue to share in our memories? This holiday season, I invite you to see the world how I do. Instead of seeing an empty chair, see a chair filled with laughs, traditions, and a lifetime of memories. Those in spirit know grieving is not easy. It is not meant to be easy. Once we change our mindset and our intention from remembering to honoring, our once darkened world will begin to be filled with color again. That is the ultimate gift only you can give yourself this holiday season. On behalf of myself (and of course those in spirit), I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season filled with continued memories and joyous celebrations with your loved ones–both those you can see and those you can feel.

MEET BUFFALO MOM LIFE MAVEN,
Jessie Nelson BY RILEY SMITH
Jessie Nelson is a Buffalo native. Growing up in suburbs to the south, she’s always loved the comradery that the city and its people bring to the table. Now, Jessie lives in Amherst with her husband, TJ, and their three children. For the last ten years, she has been focused on raising her two daughters and son. While being a full-time mother, Jessie also has her hands full running a blog that inspires other mothers and homemakers to see the beauty and complexity of parenthood while enjoying the simplicity of life at home. Make Me Wanna Shout highlights Jessie’s journey as a mother, homemaker, Interior Design student, and typical shopper who loves a good bargain find at Target. On her blog, one can find recipes, wellness tips, lifestyle pieces, cool finds, and tips and tricks related to motherhood and interior design. Those feeling a touch of wanderlust can even follow Jessie’s travels throughout the country! THEHOMEPUBLICATIONS.COM |Buffalo 37
BUFFALO INSPIRATION Living in Buffalo throughout her life, Jessie draws inspiration from the beautiful city and all it has to offer. She reflects on the friendliness of the people and their willingness to always help out when there is a need in the area. In fact, that’s why she started Make Me Wanna Shout. Jessie wants to help people—both in Buffalo and beyond—to find new ways to cook, drink, shop, travel, design their homes, spend time with their families, and more. With the hustle and bustle of the city and its medley of activities to try during the holiday season and throughout the year, you can see why the Queen City is a source of inspiration for Jessie and her blooming blog. Like many families across FOR THE NELSON the country, the Nelson family loves to take part in FAMILY, THE HOLIDAY the traditions Buffalo offers SEASON ALSO MEANS during the holiday season. BAKING COOKIES AND One of her family’s favorites is MAKING GINGERBREAD traveling to Niagara Falls for PLAYDOUGH! the annual Festival of Lights. Additionally, Jessie said her kids can’t wait to visit Canalside to ice skate and walk around the beautiful area while the snow is falling during the winter months. With Canalside’s kid-friendly atmosphere and its central location being within walking distance to several appealing restaurants and shops, it’s a fun and unique spot that the Nelson family visits quite often throughout the year.
A CREATIVE OUTLET As vibrant as it is, Buffalo isn’t the only source of inspiration for Make Me Wanna Shout. As a busy mother of three for the past decade, Jessie started her blog as a creative outlet. While homemaking and parenthood have truly been blessings in her life, she wanted something to call her own that she could have fun with each day. She loves to assemble and take pictures of drinks, food, interior design ideas, shopping purchases, and her family. Jessie also appreciates the creativity that running a blog offers, using her own life in the creation of her blog’s content. Now the owner of the Make Me Wanna Shout blog and its Instagram page, Jessie has her hands full. However, she likes wearing many hats these days. She adores showing the world a piece of her life and the things that make her want to shout–whether they’re in her home, in Buffalo, online, or beyond. 38 THEHOMEPUBLICATIONS.COM | Buffalo

MAPLE APPLE BOURBON SLAM
First, you need to make a cinnamon sugar mixture for the rim. Mix small amounts of these two ingredients together in a small bowl; then pour onto a small saucer/dessert plate. Pour some apple cider on a second saucer/dessert plate and take a rocks glass and dip it first into the apple cider plate and then into the cinnamon sugar plate.
02.
Use a spoon or small ladle to fill the glass with ice and set aside. Add 1.5 ounces of bourbon, 3 ounces apple cider, and ½- 1 teaspoon maple syrup to the glass. Stir gently. Finally, garnish with an apple wheel.
KIDS’ HOLIDAY CRAFT This classic holiday garland is Jessie’s kids’ favorite holiday craft. Dried orange garlands can add traditional color and “pop” to modern holiday décor. The Nelson children look forward to this project so much because it’s fun, easy, and looks beautiful when complete. Here’s what you’ll need for this craft: • Dehydrator or oven • Navel oranges • Garland • Cotton thread or clear fishing line • Popcorn • Cranberries 1. First, slice the navel oranges an eighth of an inch to a quarter inch thick. Be sure to not cut them too thick because they’ll take too long to dry!
POMEGRANATE MOSCOW MULE
03.
First, fill your copper mug or glass with ice. Add 2 ounces of 100% pomegranate juice, 2 ounces vodka, and juice from 1/2 a lime. Fill the glass to the top with chilled ginger beer. Stir gently to combine. Finally, top with garnishes and serve!
This tasty drink can be made into a mocktail by omitting the vodka.
For the Nelson family, the holiday season also means baking cookies, making gingerbread Playdough and a ton of fun! For more inspo, check out www.makemewannashout.com and @make.me.wanna.shout on Instagram.
2. Next, you’ll need your dehydrator to dry the orange slices. If you don’t have a dehydrator, bake the orange slices in the oven at 250 degrees. 3. Once the orange slices are dried and ready for the craft, get out your garland. You can easily find this at a craft store! You’ll also need cotton thread or a clear fishing line. 4. Use the material of your choosing to thread the orange slices along the garland. 5. Finally, string popcorn and cranberries on the day it’ll be used as a centerpiece for a holiday dinner or gathering. These items don’t tend to stay put for too long! COZ Y CO M F O RT F O O D W I T H O U T PAC K I N G ON THE POUNDS?
Hannah Carboni SHOWS US HOW! BY DANIEL LINSNER
As the warmth of the summer fades, and the crisp fall air stakes its claim, Western New Yorkers prepare themselves for the cold chill of the winter. Along with the bitter air and the feet of snow which inevitably blanket the ground, winter also means large meals of comfort food, loaded with enough carbs and sugars to keep anyone warm on a cold winter night. While these comfort foods may be delicious, they can be damaging to one’s health, as well. That’s why Buffalo’s Hannah Carboni @BuffFitFoodie, has crafted three comfort food recipes to ward off the winter chills that are both delicious and healthy.
limited amount of time to work on her health. However, she learned a few tips and tricks that helped her reach her goals.
Hannah Carboni wasn’t always the food expert she is now, despite what her recipes may suggest. Her parents never really taught her much about cooking when she was a child. In fact, twice while attending the University of Buffalo, she set a microwave she was using on fire. However, after going on a mission to lose some weight and with some guidance from her sister, Hannah moved past her microwave-igniting days and became the food connoisseur she is now.
Originally, most of the food that Carboni posted was food that she ate at restaurants. This was important to her because she very rarely went out to eat when she was younger. However, one decision changed her page and helped her become more well-known in the Buffalo area.
It was in college that Carboni made it a priority to shed some pounds and live a healthier lifestyle. That was easier said than done. Being a full-time student and working at Wegmans on the side meant Hannah only had a
Carboni said many of these came from her sister who worked in a kitchen at a restaurant out-of-state. When she had the time, Carboni would go out and visit her sister to learn more about cooking and becoming a better cook herself. As she got older, and she improved her cooking skills, she decided it was time to show her love of cooking to the world. That’s when she started her BuffFitFoodie Instagram page.
“My Instagram page didn’t really blow up until one day when I put a poll about whether to put my own food on it,” Hannah said. “I got a lot of positive responses on my poll, with people wanting to see my own food. So, I started doing that, and then my page really started to grow. From that point, I focused on putting more of my own food on BuffFitFoodie.” THEHOMEPUBLICATIONS.COM |Buffalo 49
Even though she has grown into an excellent cook, Carboni still enjoys going out to eat, and two Buffalo restaurants have caught her attention right now. The first is Cafe 59 on Allen Street. She can’t get enough of their soups, salads, sandwiches, fish fry, and chicken finger sub which, Hannah contends, is the best chicken finger sub in Buffalo. Carboni also can’t stay away from Inizio in Elmwood Village. Their scratch-made pasta and their reasonable portions are perfect for a satisfying “cheat day.”
Ready to cook healthy meals but don’t know where to start? No problem! Two of Carboni’s favorite winter comfort food recipes—with a healthy twist—will give you a boost in the right direction!
This lip-smacking White Chicken Chili involves a three-bean dip, chicken, and a light dash of cream, keeping the dish easy on the stomach. It also includes reduced fat half and half and reduced fat cream cheese in a broth to help lessen its gastrointestinal impact.
Still hungry? For Hannah’s Big Burger Casserole recipe visit homepublications.com! Start off with a base of ground turkey and potatoes (Ribeye and sirloin steak can both be used as alternatives). Cover with cheese and 1,000 Island dressing. Bake. Finally, top with typical burger ingredients like lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Carboni likes to add Greek yogurt and more 1,000 Island dressing for some extra flavor!
A healthy alternative to Shepherd’s Pie, this savory dish replaces the ground beef traditionally found in Shepherd’s Pie with ground turkey to make the meal less greasy and the mashed potatoes with mashed cauliflower to give it a healthy kick and lessen its caloric content.
follow hannah carboni @BuffFitFoodie for local eats!
“You know, there is always a time and place to have a giant meal,” she said. “However, you can’t have a large meal all the time, and that’s why it’s so important to eat healthy. It can have a positive impact on your mental and physical health, and it can help prevent overeating. It’s all about maintaining a balance.” - Hannah Carboni
1. In a large pot of boiling water, add cauliflower florets and boil for about 10 minutes, or until soft. 2. In a blender or food processor, add drained cauliflower, cream cheese, ½ cup of your milk of choice, salt, pepper, and garlic to taste. Add any other seasonings you would normally add to mashed potatoes – I added chives! Blend until smooth. If it is extremely thick, you may need to add a tad bit more of milk. 3. Heat oil on stove in large skillet, add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add chopped onions, peppers, and celery, and cook until onions are translucent. 4. Add ground meat to pan, along with parsley, thyme, and rosemary. Cook until almost browned. 5. Add Worcestershire and tomato paste; stir to coat. 6. Add flour and stir again until evenly coated, add ¾ cup of milk of choice, stir, and let sit for a minute. The meat mixture will begin to thicken. If ¾ cup of milk was not enough, add another ¼ of a cup.

EXPECTATIONS
Locally owned businesses may be classified as “small,” but they have a big impact on the national economy! - Create job opportunities Shopping at small businesses keeps those establishments afloat, along with their employees. Small businesses are the largest employers in the United States. A person may never know when he or she - or a relative - will need a job. Keeping small businesses viable provides a strong job market for locals.
- Keep more money in the community The Small Business Administration says $48 out of every $100 spent at a local business stays in the community. Spend the same $100 at a national realtor and only $14 stays.
- Enjoy a more local flavor Small businesses can provide products or services that relate directly to the needs of the community they serve. These same small businesses also may be more inclined to work with local vendors.

GOT BROWN PAPER BAGS?
Upcycle Them for the Holidays BY JODY LYNN GREER
HOLIDAY BOOT CENTERPIECE
The next time you take your weekly trip to the grocery store, you may want to consider keeping your brown paper bags for more than just recycling. As the saying goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” No one would agree with this sentiment more than Ann Marie Paglione. Whether it comes to creating a delightful Thanksgiving centerpiece, a magical sleigh of Santa’s reindeer, or designing a unique and personalized gift for a loved one, Ann Marie Paglione artfully designs all her crafts with recyclable materials like these suddenly abundant brown paper bags. You may not be familiar with her name yet, but Paglione’s client base continues to grow locally and includes businesses as well as individual projects. Inspired by her Irish-Italian family’s love of crafting as well as her desire to upcycle, Paglione’s business is known as Embrace the Power of Paper. As she lovingly remarks of her childhood, “our gift giving always included some of our specially handcrafted creations!” “What I like about the process is that I start with an idea, and I’m not quite sure how it will develop,” explained Paglione. “Each project I do, I try to incorporate the individual [it’s for]; I want to personalize everything. I try to incorporate characteristics of the recipient. No two of my projects are ever the same. The finished project is always different from what I started with. The creative process…I enjoy watching that unfold. Everything starts with a conversation, and I try to get to know the person for whom I am creating.”

While Ann Marie is a skilled artisan who has created thousands of paper craft creations since she was a child, several of her designs can be recreated at home. Her customized pieces add a personal touch to every occasion from holidays and birthdays to business events. At other times, they can serve as inspirational crafting ideas for children and grandchildren. Whether one is a novice with arts and crafts, or has much experience, she has something for every skill level. The point of Paglione’s gifts is to provide “a customized gift that you can’t buy in the big box store. The message that I want to convey is that I am creating a connection between the giver and the recipient.” This is an experience that can’t be
HOLIDAY PLACE MAT replicated by going to retail stores. Since the onset of the pandemic, her sales have increased substantially. “There is more interest in my products now because people realize there’s more to it than finding something online.” Ann Marie and her business Embrace the Power of Paper emphasize important messages in today’s climate. When we recycle, we contribute towards a healthier community. We play an integral role in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness. Beyond this, participating in crafting projects creates an opportunity to build lifelong memories, much like the ones that compelled Ann Marie Paglione to hone her business into what it is today. Finally, crafting allows families to spend valuable time away from technology and screens. It reinforces confidence by developing math, reading, and critical thinking skills while providing a positive outlet for creativity. For all these benefits and more, there are so many reasons to Embrace the Power of Paper. For those wishing to partake in recreating her unique and signature crafts for the upcoming holiday season, she has outlined instructions that will help you create a fun, festive atmosphere for your family and guests.

Weave shorter strips from top to bottom through the longer strips. 4. Attach a strip of masking tape from top to bottom on the right side of the mat. 5. Decorate your placemat!
