Many restaurants that had not previously done so have begun to offer delivery services, be it curbside or at-home, and this can provide a great respite for families who have had to cook three meals a day at home for their entire families for extended periods of time. Curbside delivery has made it possible to get takeout meals without compromising social distancing recommendations.

Discover The Human Touch In Hearing Technology Lakeville RECOGNIZE AND AVOID YOUTH SPORTS INJURIES Children benefit in various ways from their involvement in youth sports. Being part of a team fosters feelings of belonging, inspires collaborative play and strategy and can be an excellent form of exercise. Still, despite the benefits, parents often worry about the injury risk their children face on the playing fields. Those fears are justified. A Safe Kids Worldwide survey of emergency room visits found that a young athlete visits a hospital emergency room for a sports-related injury more than a million times a year, or about every 25 seconds. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says more than 2.6 million children 0 to 19 years old are treated in the emergency department each year for sports- and recreation-related injuries. Some of the more common injuries young children face have to do with the skeletal and muscular systems of the body. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons stresses that children’s bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments are still growing, making them more susceptible to injury. Fortunately, with some education, many youth-sport injuries can be prevented.

DID YOU KNOW? A report published in the Lancet in 2012 suggests that a lack of exercise now causes as many deaths across the globe as smoking. A team of 33 researchers representing centers around the world contributed to the study. It was determined that about onethird of all adults are not getting enough physical activity to keep them healthy and to prevent the nearly 5.3 million deaths per year that can be linked to sedentary lifestyles. The United States Department of Health and Human Services recommends that adults get 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week, or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity. It’s also beneficial to do a combination of activities for exercise variety.

The re-opening process is being handled cautiously. Please be patient with our team.

Morning Stiffness Is Sign of Osteoarthritis ---

Masks are necessary. • When you arrive for your appointment, you must call the office from your car once you are parked.

DEAR DR. ROACH: I’m a 67-year-old black female who’s been diagnosed with “a little arthritis” in my right hip. Now retired from a desk job, I unfortunately still am not getting enough exercise. My issue is that after sitting for a length of time, I’m in excruciating pain and can’t stand up at all. Once I straighten up and get moving, the pain subsides. I’ve been told “you’re getting old,” but I’m not old! I’m about 30 pounds overweight. Also, when I stand for any length of time, my lower back aches. Would taking a morning walk and a yoga class alleviate this problem? I’m so embarrassed when I get out of my car or get up from the dinner table. -- S.H. ANSWER: There are many types of arthritis, and the answer to your question varies a bit depending on type. I think you probably have the most common form, osteoarthritis, so I’m going to answer you assuming that’s the case. Stiffness in the morning, quickly relieved by exercise, is a hallmark of osteoarthritis. It’s common, treatable and not something to be embarrassed about. Exercise is an effective treatment for osteoarthritis. It can be difficult to get started, but the more people exercise, the more they are able to do. Walking and yoga both are excellent ideas, but the best exercise is the one you will want to keep doing. Osteoarthritis affects a fair number of 67-year-olds, but it’s important to remember that it’s not your age that is causing the pain: It’s the arthritis. Although we know of no treatments that can reverse the course of osteoarthritis, medications (including a few supplements), exercise and physical therapy all can ease symptoms and improve function. Losing weight takes stress off the joints and is recommended, but is not easy. Finally, severe arthritis can be treated surgically, with a joint replacement. That’s not a procedure to take lightly or have done too early. *** DEAR DR. ROACH: I’m 85 years old. I have numbness in my hands -- sometimes the right, sometimes the left; sometimes both hands or not at all. It lasts only a while. My doctor feels that it’s a pinched nerve in my neck. Can you give me any advice? -- J.B. ANSWER: A pinched nerve in the neck becomes more prevalent as people age. The nerve can be compressed by bony structures in people with osteoarthritis in the neck (this is spinal stenosis), or by disk material in someone with a herniated disk. Having symptoms on both sides is less common than having symptoms consistently on one side only. A careful physical exam can give clues that this is the case, but an MRI or other imaging study is the best way to be sure of the diagnosis. Hand numbness also may be caused by the nerve being “pinched” in other locations: in the carpal tunnel in the wrist or in the cubital tunnel in the elbow. An EMG test can help sort out where this is coming from. It’s certainly possible to have carpal tunnel syndrome on both sides. My best advice is not to rush into surgery at any age, but especially not at age 85. Physical therapy can prevent many people from needing surgery. However, if numbness progresses to weakness, it’s time to reconsider. *** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. 1. How do I get rid of spiny sow thistle and Canada thistle? Anne B. Spiny sowthistle is a winter annual that is actually in the sunflower family and not a true thistle. Spiny sowthistle spreads by seed. It flowers from late spring through the summer, depending on the location. The flower is yellow, resembling a dandelion, but forms in a corymbiform cluster. The root of spiny sowthistle is a taproot. It is found in waste areas and other open areas such as roadsides and thin turf. It can be controlled by mowing which prevents the stem and

flowers from forming and eliminates seed formation. The plant can also be cut out. A postemergent herbicide application is effective when spiny sowthistle is young and actively growing but should not be needed if the location will be mowed. For best results, treat prior to bolting.

the first time by early June. Mowing or repeated cutting may be used to help prevent the production of seeds and starving the plant. Persistent removal of the shoots before they attain several leaves will exhaust the storage roots within two years and eliminate the weed. One study found a 21 day weeding schedule was optimal. Postemergent applications of a systemic herbicide may be used. Fall is typically the best time for these treatments when the plant is translocating

food reserves to the rooting structures. Other good times are during the early bolting stage when plants are 6-10” tall and during the bud to flowering stage. Some of the common lawn weed control materials are effective. Spot treatments are good for limited stands. Glyphosate products labeled for the use are effective. Lawns should be properly maintained to promote a healthy, dense turf that with managed mowing will compete well with weeds.

Canada Thistle is a rhizomatous perennial. Since Canada thistle has a deep root system, the only mechanical approach for controlling this weed is to exhaust the storage roots (exhaust perennial roots). Dansville’s Your Center Founder, Tina Markle, Continues Serving Seniors By Amanda Dudek

S

enior citizens are one of our most beloved and vulnerable populations. Tina Markle was so moved to care for our elderly friends, family and neighbors that she established Your Center, a senior center, in Dansville. A health care worker for the past 15 years, Markle understands just how important it is to provide for the social needs as well as the physical needs of seniors. “I have always wanted to open up a soup kitchen, and I joke with the seniors that the Center is our soup kitchen,” chuckled Markle. “When Your Center is open, it is free to everyone, and the less fortunate people who are in need come to enjoy our dining area with its TV, breakfast, lunch, free clothing, haircuts, crafts, games like Bingo... everything is done for free.” While the work she does has not yet become a 501(c)3, Markle provides funds for the Center, food and services for the elderly herself, along with some donations she receives, all of which, she emphatically stated, are used to provide for seniors in need. “We are not for profit at all,” she said. “When people tell me they have a need, I do my best to meet it. I get joy out of what I do.” Enter COVID-19. People were no longer able to gather, and social distancing had become especially important in protecting the health of our senior populations. Markle could no longer hold meals and activities at her center. “When this horrible virus hit, I still wanted to be able to help people,” she explained. “I decided to make free weekly meals for the community, even for essential workers at first, too. My family pitched in with my husband and daughters helping to put together and deliver meals on Wednesdays and my mother making the desserts and cookies the day before.” Markle and her husband deliver to seniors in the Dansville, Springwater, and Wayland areas, about 185 meals in total. “I had, and still have, people reaching out to me through word of mouth,” recalled Markle. “Even some younger families who have lost their jobs and are struggling have reached out to me. There are many seniors in Dansville who usually do their own grocery shopping, but now, they have called me and asked if I could help them get their groceries and their prescriptions. Seniors are very delicate, and sometimes, they don’t know to whom they should reach out.” Helping so many people certainly keeps Markle very busy. “Some days, I leave my house at 6 AM, and I don’t get home until 10 o’clock at night,” she stated. “I am looking forward to this virus ending and this craziness stopping.” While she wishes there Tina Markle (right) with one were more people willing to help, of her clients (left)! Markle carries on because it is “her energy.” “I was born and raised in Dansville,” she shared. “My dad, who sadly passed away ten years ago, was the Postmaster in Dansville. It is definitely overwhelming at times, but you have to be 100% dedicated to helping people.” The senior community has been very grateful. “My gosh, some of the thank you letters I have gotten from people since this started!” she exclaimed. “One senior lady wrote, ‘You are definitely my angel.’ I always say that this is why I do this when I get those letters. They are really written from the heart.”

Enjoying games at Your Center in Dansville before COVID-19!

“People don’t realize how much of a difference a little act of kindness can make in someone’s life,” she continued. “Others may think our elderly are fine, but they are lonely and sad right now. Just to have someone to talk to, a phone number to call, is so important.” As long as there is need, Tina Markle plans to continue. “I am going to continue to provide free meals every Wednesday for as long as I can,” she said. “Any donations we receive are going into this effort. When we are able to reopen Your Center, seniors can come in again and enjoy a family-style meal and meet with others.” The pandemic has also been eye-opening for Markle. “I knew there was a need, but I didn’t know how big the need was,” she explained. “I have really realized how many people come to me, how many seniors are in need, and how many didn’t know about me. I am not a millionaire, but I set a budget for giving, and I do what I can.” Markle encourages others to reach out to their elderly friends, family and neighbors, especially now. “See if they need help, leave them a note with your number, just be there to listen,” she suggested. “Just doing these things does so much.” For more information, call Tina Markle at (585) 204-4272 or email yourcenter54@gmail.com. SENIOR NEWS LINE By Matilda Charles

Finding Fresh Food Many of us haven't been eating right lately. Sometimes the stores are out of what we want; sometimes we can't get an available pickup time. But there are a few other safe options for getting what we need. Community Supported Agriculture: Farmers near you like to know in advance if their crops will have a market once it's time to harvest, and they sell "subscriptions" that allow you, as a shareholder, to pick up fresh food once a week. Do an internet search for "community supported agriculture" in your area. Look for ones that sell more than just vegetables. Some also have eggs, butter, bread, jams, flowers and meat. Farm Stands: You'll see these along the road -- a small farmer or gardener who sells his produce at the end of the driveway out of a small stand. Stop and take a look, and ask questions. Most of them will have a limited variety, but it will all be fresh, probably picked just that morning. You might have to point to the items you want so they don't have people touching the food. That's a safety point you'll appreciate. Ask about other foods that will be available, and make it a point to stop by. And remember, no matter where you go, look for marks on the ground for places to stand six feet apart. (c) 2020 King Features Synd., Inc.

Celebrating Father’s Day while social distancing To say that COVID-19 changed life as we know it would be an understatement. Many people likely never imagined how much their daily routines would be affected when this novel coronavirus was just a blip on the radar at the end of 2019. Social distancing may have become the new normal, but it doesn’t mean that holidays like Father’s Day have to be a washout. As evidenced by holidays that have already taken place amidst social distancing guidelines, people are finding creative ways to celebrate special occasions. Here are some ways to make Father’s Day special even while social distancing. · Turn to social apps. Virtual meeting applications, like Zoom, Skype and FaceTime provide invaluable opportunities to speak and connect face-to-face when in-person gatherings are not possible. They also can be used to break bread together or to play games or relay stories. · Deliver gifts. Take a few cues from the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus and plan to drop gifts and run. Seniors and people who have compromised immune systems are at a higher risk of contracting contagious illnesses. While it may be tempting to visit your father or grandfather in person, even a short visit could put his health at risk. Instead, leave gifts outside the house. For added fun, hide the gifts and provide scavenger hunt clues. · Dine out at home. If dining out was something you typically do on Father’s Day, replicate the experience at home. Try to recreate Dad’s favorite meal from the restaurant he loves or see if that restaurant offers curbside pickup. Transform the dining table into a restaurant table, or take the meal outdoors for some al fresco fun. Let kids serve as the wait staff. · Spend time together. One of the silver linings of social distancing is the opportunity for family members who reside under one roof to have more uninterrupted time together. Chances are having the kids nearby and sharing some stories and laughs together will be a perfect way for Dad to enjoy Father’s Day. With some creative thinking, dads across the county can still enjoy the special day they deserve. TF206039

PAW'S CORNER By Sam Mazzotta

When a Loose Dog Approaches DEAR PAW’S CORNER: This weekend while hiking with my daughter on a public trail, a big dog ran straight up to us and started barking fiercely. We were frightened and didn’t know what to do, so we stood still until the dog ran off. What should we have done instead? -- Paul in Lynn, Massachusetts DEAR PAUL: You and your daughter did the right thing by standing still when the dog approached. Running away or waving your arms may further excite a dog and incite an attack. Preventive Vet has an excellent post detailing what to do when approached by a strange dog, including common body language that can help you interpret whether the dog is relaxed, alert or feeling threatened (go to www.preventivevet.com and search for “off-leash dog”). Here are additional steps to take when approached: 1. Stay calm and observe the dog’s body language and behavior as it approaches. 2. Place your walking stick in front of you, between you and the dog. 3. If it comes close, put out a hand and say “Go home!” or “Sit!” 4. Startle a dog that doesn’t leave: Bang your stick against the ground (don’t wave or swing it) and yell “Go home!” Another recommendation is to carry dog treats on walks. If a loose dog approaches and won’t leave, toss a treat away from you (but in their line of sight) and when they go to eat it, calmly depart the area. Some owners will take issue with the idea of strangers tossing treats at their dog. But letting their dogs run off leash and out of view is risky to the dog and to other people, and just plain irresponsible. Ideally, dogs should be trained to stay within sight of their owners and well socialized to other humans; otherwise, they need to be on a leash. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

CLEVER WAYS TO USE LEFTOVERS CREATE NEW MEALS. Using leftovers does not mean eating the same exact meal a second time. Ingredients can be utilized in new ways. For example, a roast chicken can be broken down and the meat can be used for fajitas on another night. Leftover tomato sauce and meatballs from a Sunday dinner can be turned into an impromptu chili with the addition of beans and peppers.

MAKE HIS FIRST FATHER’S DAY SPECIAL Let Dad sleep in. Chances are Dad is enamored with his little bundle of joy, but it’s well-known that being a new father often means sacrificing sleep time - especially for the first several months to a year of that child’s life. Enlist the help of a family member who can be on baby watch while Dad gets to sleep in on the weekend of his big day. With some extra sleep, Dad can enjoy Father’s Day that much more.

BENEFITS OF CHOOSING SOLAR ENERGY Home improvement trends come and go. What’s popular among today’s homeowners may feel dated to prospective buyers a decade from now. But solar energy is one home improvement trend that does not figure to go the way of sunken living rooms or popcorn ceilings. According to the Solar Energies Industry Association®, solar energy experienced a compound annual growth rate of more than 60 percent between 2006 and 2016. Solar energy has also done wonders to improve the employment rate. According to the Solar Foundation’s National Solar Jobs Census, in the United States there were more than 260,000 solar workers in 2016, an increase of 25 percent from the previous year. Things are equally rosy in Canada, where the Government of Canada reports installed capacity for solar thermal power has experienced a compound growth rate of nearly 14 percent since 2004. The use of solar energy is on the rise, and there are many reasons for homeowners to embrace this increasingly popular energy source. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

Why Improve Your Insulation An improperly insulated attic can be a preventable source of energy loss and unnecessary expense. Over time, insulation can settle or compact, which reduces its R-value. An insulating material’s resistance to conductive heat flow is measured or rated in terms of its thermal resistance or R-value— the higher the R-value, the greater the insulating effectiveness. A breezy attic may also result in drifts or shifts in your original insulation, leaving gaps where heat can escape. By topping up your attic insulation, you’ll increase the thermal level, reducing your overall energy usage and saving you money. How To Do It A simple way to do this is to topup the existing insulation in your attic. This is one project that homeowners can often tackle for themselves. Look for timesaving, easy-to-install products, such as stone wool batts, that are easy to work with and don’t require costly blower rentals, protective clothing or an investment in expensive equipment. You can easily add Rockwool ComfortBatt insulation on top of most existing insulation to increase R-value in an attic without having to do any remediation or removal first. The batts will remain stable and won’t shift after they are put in place, ensuring upgraded thermal protection. They’re also: • Noncombustible

(NAPSI)—One of the most cost-effective ways to make your home more comfortable year-round is to add insulation to your attic, including the attic trap or access door. By sealing uncontrolled air leaks, points out the U.S. Department of Energy, you can save 10 percent to 20 percent on your heating and cooling bills. Fortunately, this can be a relatively easy task.

• Excellent for sound absorbency • Not likely to rot or promote growth of fungi or mildew • Water and moisture resistant. To apply the insulation, simply begin in one corner of the attic, open the bag and place the stone wool batts as needed to get a consistent layer throughout the attic. Make sure to cover spaces around ducts, wiring and piping, converting these awkward spaces into energy-saving areas. One of the advantages of stone wool batts is their compatibility with other insulation types, eliminating any need to remove existing product. Sharew ith 259,20 0 readers!

I have family members basically in every field as essential workers, (nurse, officer, co, fabric store for masks, etc.) ,but the person I’d like to give extra love to is my mother who works every day to make sure you get your groceries. The amount of stress grocery store workers face is harrowing, and I commend you. I pray you don’t catch it from one of the people from the public. Keep hanging in there. You’re part of the strong and resilient. Continue to do your good so others can feed their families. Peggy at Top’s pharmacy in Hamlin is so nice to bring my prescription out to the car when I am unable to go in. Thank you for your kindness! Also, a shout out to Anthony, one of the pharmacist’s at Top’s. He is more than just someone who fills your prescription for you. He listens

Even I have to feed my family and get groceries every three weeks when we run out. Not all of us have internet to place the pickup orders, and I take every precaution: wearing gloves and my n95 mask when going out as well as disposing of the used gloves in a plastic bag in my car. I do not stay. I do not linger. I do not buy and browse. I write my list, get what I need, stay 6 feet away from people who still don’t do this. I check out. I heard her brag, and then I went home, shut in to do house projects. So yes, I need food to live. Hope that clarifies your confusion.

GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

I went to [local store] over the weekend and was so proud to see young and old wearing masks. What a sharp contrast to those who are fighting for rights and do not see the need to wear masks! As one psychologist put it, “Some people just don’t like being told what to do.” I think he hit the nail on the head. So, in actuality, it really has nothing to do with liberty, but it is an attitude problem. It was a pleasure to see people doing the right thing, even if wearing a mask could be a challenge for some. It renewed my faith in society that there are those who will do the moral and ethical thing in such unsettling times. To the man in the grey hooded sweatshirt and white tennis shoes: Please kindly refrain from stealing the flowers that I and others work so diligently to plant. if you have questions, and offers sound, practical advice. The other day, he even went the extra mile to come out from the pharmacy area, to show me something that perhaps my son should take. I had a choice to make, and I told him to pick, because I trust his insight. Usually pharmacists can be clinical, counting pills behind the glass partitions without having much if any interaction with the customers who come in to pick up their prescriptions. This is not the case with Anthony! Thanks! I want to thank the mechanics for still working through this pandemic, for keeping doctors, nurses, truckers, and personal vehicles going. I am so appreciative of it. If it were not for them working on my car, I would not have been able to still work and get groceries for my family. I also want to thank their families to whom they go your cheap and thieving behavior for their Mother’s Day gift. Please go to a store and get a beautiful bouquet of flowers and possibly a card. It will be worth it when they see you actually put in the effort. Petty complaints do not deserve the space they take up. Look for the good in every situation! I also am tired of picking up others trash, but at least I can do so! Yes, it would be great if people picked up after themselves or better still, did not throw stuff along roads, but who do we have to blame? Were they ever taught to pick up after themselves? I detest people who use rat poison. Not only is it a horrible way to die, but it can have a ripple effect. I’ve seen it with my own eyes working for a vet for several years, like the cat who ate a mouse that had eaten poison. The vet did all he could do but the cat didn’t make it. Then there were the eagles I watch on the internet whose first

home after being in contact with our vehicles, putting their own families at risk. Just know you are appreciated during this time. I live on North Street and walk my dog on my property. To my surprise during the month of March, I was fascinated in finding beautifully painted, small rocks at the base of my trees, first one, then others. I had spoken of it to my family members, wondering if it might have been them. No one admitted, so I am assuming it was a kind, loving person, maybe even a family trying to spread love and sunshine during these uncertain days. I want you to know, whoever you are, I loved this gesture and looked forward to seeing these beautiful treasures. Thank you, thank you, thank you,

baby died because the dead rat its parent brought to the nest to feed it had died of rat poison; the baby eagle got some of the poison, which killed it. How do we know this? Wildlife people got the dead baby and did a necropsy (autopsy) on it. This was a symbol of our country, of our freedom, and man destroyed it. There are other ways to deal with mice and rats, humane ways, too. Try using traps or smelly things. They don’t like strong smelling stuff like ammonia or bleach or even Irish Spring hand soap, peppermint oil, tea bags, etc. Remember, if you live with woods all around you, learn to live with the creatures in those woods. God put every creature on this earth for a reason. Humans are destroying this earth. I read that millions of birds are gone now. After they go, we will have more insects to contend with. It all has a ripple effect.

NOW HERE'S A TIP

NEW WAY TO SAVE ALL SHELTER PETS (NAPSI)—The lives of nearly 733,000 cats and dogs could be saved with the help of caring humans and an innovative Web-based platform introduced this week by Best Friends Animal Society. Envisioned as a tool to help animal lovers help their communities save more pets, the new community lifesaving dashboard combines groundbreaking data visualization technology with the most comprehensive data set on animal welfare ever published. Two years in the making, the tool crowdsources, validates and translates complex data about the dogs and cats in U.S. shelters. It brings an unprecedented level of transparency to the animal welfare movement, unlocking new opportunities for saving pets by providing a detailed picture showing precisely—on a city, state and community level—where cats and dogs need to be saved. For the first time, anyone with a smartphone or computer will be able to easily access his or her community’s snapshot of how many cats and dogs need to be saved and find tools to help individual shelters save more pets. The organization used independent research, government data and even FOIA requests to create the most comprehensive data set on animal welfare ever published. Best Friends CEO Julie Castle says the investment in data was necessary to achieve the organization’s goal of bringing the whole country no-kill by 2025. “Up until two years ago, we didn’t even know how many shelters existed,” she said. “How can you possibly save all the animals if you don’t even know how many need to be saved? “With this data in hand, our goal to save every savable pet by 2025 is finally within reach,” Castle said. To explore the community lifesaving dashboard, visit BestFriends.org/2025. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

TACKLING THE ULTIMATE WORKFORCE CHALLENGE (NAPSI)—Today, many people in business talk of diversity fatigue, says Barbara Adams, PsyD, author of “Women, Minorities, & Other Extraordinary People: The New Path for Workforce Diversity” (Greenleaf Book Group Press). But, she adds, that means “we’ve momentarily lost sight of the magnitude of opportunity before us.” Her book can serve people in leadership positions who recognize, “the tremendous strategic value of having diverse, inclusive workforces,” but have struggled to commit to it. For all the many well-meaning diversity initiatives that organizations have undertaken lately, “personal mindsets and beliefs are what count,” she writes. “People in leadership positions,” Dr. Adams adds, “have the ability to replace judgment and bias that naturally occur in us with curiosity about differences.” And that, she concludes, is “truly the beginning of embracing the opportunity that lies in workforce diversity and inclusion” and can make companies and organizations more successful. Her book reframes the journey ahead through an organizational lens, highlighting the importance of cultural norms, challenging misconceptions, and providing research and practical tools. RELOCATING FOR A NEW JOB

Livingston/Wyoming Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

Emphasize organization. Much of the stress associated with relocating can be traced to the logistics of uprooting oneself and one’s family. Men and women who are unaccustomed to making lists may want to start, as doing so can help keep track of all the tasks that need to be completed before hitting the road. Various unique tasks, from canceling utilities to changing insurance policies, must be completed before moving, and it’s easy to lose track of what’s been done and what hasn’t. Maintaining a to-do list and checking off tasks as they’re completed can simplify the relocation process.

THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A NEW JOB Salary: Of course everyone would love to earn more money when changing jobs, but there is more to changing jobs than just improving your bottom line. As you begin your job search, consider how much you currently earn and if that allows you to live a life you love. If so, don’t overemphasize finding a new job that pays considerably more than your currently earn. On the flip side, young professionals who want to start a family in the years ahead should consider the costs associated with such a decision and how the salaries they earn at their next jobs may affect what they want down the road.
