PET OBESITY IS A GROWING PROBLEM The Purina Pet Care Center found that overweight pets may live two years less than ideal weight pets. Reduced life span is not the only problem, as carrying extra pounds can contribute to various maladies. These include osteoarthritis and poor joint health, type 2 diabetes, ligament injuries, heart and respiratory disease, kidney disease, and cancer.

I’m Cookie & I love being adopted! I get a lot of attention and treats! I wag my tail like a whip when I know I’m getting a treat! I was very skinny when I was found but I filled out very well in no time. I have an older sister and a younger brother now. They are great but I still try to sneak their marrow bones when Mom’s not looking! I love to run around the yard with my siblings and who would have known that I was a great swimmer! Can’t wait to go to the lake this summer! Send us a photo and brief write-up of your pet and we’ll feature it as the “POW.” Featured pets will be entered in the Pet of the Year Contest and become eligible to win a gift. HOW TO KEEP GRILLED FOODS WARM Create a tin foil tent and place foods inside. The tent can then be placed on a less hot area of the grill or placed into an oven that’s not on. Avoid tenting foods that are meant to have crispy skins, as tenting can moisten the skin.

REAL ESTATE SECTION
Equal Housing Opportunity
DID YOU KNOW? Prospective real estate investors who hope to buy, hold and rent out their investment properties should first interview potential property managers before buying homes. While it’s possible to find property managers willing to manage single-family homes or duplexes, the financial resource Bankrate.com notes that many property managers prefer to manage large apartment complexes instead. Managing properties is hard work, and without skilled property managers on their side, real estate investors may become overwhelmed by the responsibilities of taking care of their real estate investments while simultaneously trying to maintain their own residences. Before buying investment properties, prospective real estate investors should interview various local property managers or property management firms, inquiring about their fees and what is included in those fees. If the cost of hiring property managers drastically cuts into the profits investors hoped to make off their investment properties, they might be better off looking to invest their money in areas other than real estate. Prospective investors can compare the potential return on investment after the cost of property managers has been factored in to the return they might get from more traditional investments to determine if investing in real estate is a sound financial decision.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF AVOCADOS Avocados can benefit vision. Avocados contain lutein and zeaxanthin, a pair phytochemicals concentrated in the tissues in the eyes. Lutein and zeaxanthin are believed to block blue light from reaching structures in the retina, thereby reducing a person’s risk of developing macular degeneration. In fact, studies published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, the American Journal of Ophthalmology and The Archives of Ophthalmology found that diets high in lutein and zeaxanthin are associated with a lower risk of macular degeneration, which the American Macular Degeneration Foundation notes is the leading cause of vision loss in the United States.

The planet is comprised of a remarkable set of organisms that, when working correctly, produce some awe-inspiring results. However, the Earth is constantly under attack from a growing population and the mechanisms of man that can have very real environmental impacts. Education is the key to inciting real change. One in four mammals is at risk of extinction, while 78 percent of marine mammals are threatened by an early and preventable death due to getting caught in fishing nets intended for other species. Furthermore, at least 50 million acres of rainforest are lost every year, totaling an area the size of Great Britain, says the organization Solar Energy World. By making real changes, including recycling, cutting down on emissions and protecting wildlife habitats, individuals can help to preserve the world’s resources for many years to come. Summer fun that is close to home Summer concert series: Summer concerts series typically begin when the weather warms up, and music may not stop playing until Labor Day. Concerts may range from more intimate affairs that attract a few dozen people to a town square to larger events at beaches and boardwalks that draw thousands of visitors.

␣ ␣ ␣ ␣ ␣ Big Springs Museum Serves Up Smorgasbord of Historic Everyday Life: Pt. 1 It is almost impossible to grasp the size of the Big Springs Museum when approaching the Main Street entrance next to the Caledonia Police Station. The building, according to the museum’s website, is the 10,000 sq. ft. addition to the original Caledonia School, and it seems that every square inch of it is filled with history and artifacts. In fact, it is everyday life, throughout the previous century and beyond, in all its minutiae. From clothing to dinnerware to buttons to art to toasters to bellows to dolls, collections and displays run the complete range of all things daily living in the 1900’s, with some pieces dating further back into the 1800’s, as well. There is hardly a topic regarding life during this historic period for which one could not find a collection. Baby carriages and cradles? They’re here. Washing machines? They’re here, too. Farm equipment? Just visit the museum basement. When one enters through the door on Main Street, which is actually the rear entrance with the main entrance being on Pioneer Road facing Tenant Park, display cases immediately appear along either side of the hallway. This hallway leads past the Caledonia Police Station and into the museum building. Displays on herbalism & tonics, Native American history, women’s dresses and coin banks draw visitors to the glass for a closer look. One could spend half an hour between them and not even have reached the museum door! On the first floor stands a model for a new exhibit: “Shaping a Community,” which is to take form with the War Era display upstairs. In a way, this model is symbolic of the entire museum, always growing, always changing, continuing to house and create a history of the Caledonia area as time moves forward. A significant part of the displays reflects the area’s agricultural heritage, especially related to the Seth Green Fish Hatchery, the oldest fish hatchery in North America. Hatchery log books and fish plates as well as other fish art, particularly a pair of trout paintings by local artist, Lillian Annin, fill almost an entire room. A model of a Wells
barn, as well as additional information on the iconic structure, share the room with the hatchery items. A display of sheet music connected to place names stands in the center of the room and is a fascinating glimpse into the musical preferences of the times. Also, tucked behind a door, is the original Caledonia telephone switchboard, a fun piece to examine. There are two staircases leading to the second floor, and knowledgeable and friendly museum curator, Patty Garrett, explains that, as a previous school building addition, one staircase was for the boys and the other was for the girls, as were the rooms on either side below, which were previously coat rooms. On the second floor, enclosed rooms with one, uncluttered, glass wall light up as visitors approach, giving glimpses into a child’s room, a living room and a kitchen, replete with everyday items from the turn of the century and early 20th century.

H O R O SC O P E ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Impatience with those who don’t keep up with you can cause resistance, which, in turn, can lead to more delays. Best to be helpful and supportive if you want results. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) A surprise announcement from a colleague could put you on the defensive. Gather your facts and respond. You’ll soon find the situation shifting in your favor. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Time spent away from a project pays off with a new awareness of options you hadn’t considered before. Weigh them carefully before deciding which to choose. CANCER ( June 21 to July 22) Consider confronting that personal conflict while there’s still time to work things out. A delay can cause more problems. A longtime colleague might offer to mediate. LEO ( July 23 to August 22) Some emerging matters could impede the Lion’s progress in completing an important project. Best advice: Deal with them now, before they can create costly delays. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Your aspect continues to favor an expanding vista. This could be a good time to make a career move, and taking an out-of-town job could be a good way to do it. LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Disruptive family disputes need to be settled so that everyone can move on. Avoid assuming this burden alone, though. Ask for -- no, demand -- help with this problem. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) Patience is called for as you await word on an important workplace situation. A personal circumstance, however, could benefit by your taking immediate action. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Don’t lose confidence in yourself. Those doubters are likely to back off if you demand they show solid proof why they think your ideas won’t work. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) A temporary setback might cause the usually sure-footed Goat some unsettling moments. But keep going. The path ahead gets easier as you move forward. AQUARIUS ( January 20 to February 18) There’s welcome news from the workplace. There also could be good news involving a relationship that has long held a special meaning for you. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) You might still need to cut some lingering ties to a situation that no longer has the appeal it once held. In the meantime, you can start to explore other opportunities. BORN THIS WEEK: Your sense of what’s right can inspire others if you remember not to push too hard to make your case. Moderation works best for you. (c) 2018 King Features Synd., Inc.

We Care About
Your Smiles by Dr. Steve Sokolovskiy TOOTH DISCOLORATION
Do you have HEEL pain or ARCH pain? HEEL SPUR SYNDROME/PLANTAR FASCIITIS is a common problem among people who are active. It starts as a dull intermittent pain in the heel and progresses to a sharp persistent pain. Classically, it is worse in the morning with the first few steps, after sitting, after standing or after walking. • Plantar fasciitis often begins with irritation and tearing of the fibrous band of tissue on the bottom of the foot, which may eventually result in the formation of a heel spur. • Contributing factors: Flat pronated feet, high arched feet, poor shoe support, increase age, sudden weight increase, increased activity level, family tendency. • 95% of our patients’ symptoms are resolved with conservative treatment, avoiding surgical intervention. • We also offer surgical procedures with the best post op success rates using Endoscopic Plantar Fasciotomy techniques (minimal incisions and scarring; often back in a shoe in 1 week).

DON’T LET SUNBURN DERAIL SUMMER FUN Many people find it impossible to think about summer without conjuring visions of spending endless hours outdoors from morning until evening, whether beachside, on the open water or even floating in a backyard pool. Although a certain measure of sun exposure is required for some natural functions of the body, it’s well documented that too much time in the sun can be hazardous to one’s health. That’s why summer frolickers need to exercise considerable caution each time they step outside. Taking sunburn for granted can be a big mistake. Many people wouldn’t risk burns from a hot stove or open fire, but they won’t think twice about being unprotected under the very hot rays of the sun. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says more than one-third of adults and nearly 70 percent of children admit to suffering from sunburn within the past year. Depending on the intensity of the sun and the amount of time spent outside, sunburn can be a first- or second-degree burn. In first-degree burns, damage affects the topmost layer of skin. However, sunburn can even affect deeper layers and cause blistering in addition to redness and pain. Sunburn also can cause some irreparable damage that goes unseen. According to WebMD, ultraviolet light from the sun can alter DNA, prematurely aging skin or even contributing to skin cancers. It can take years before symptoms become noticeable. Therefore, it is best for people of all ages to exercise caution when spending time in the sun. Sunburn is one of the most easily prevented summertime ailments. It’s also important to note that sunburns are not just limited to the hot weather or when it is sunny outside. Ultraviolet damage can occur at any time of the year, and also from artificial UV sources, such as tanning beds. Preventing sunburn is simple.
When brown spots appear on teeth, it may be a sign of any number of conditions. Many dark-colored foods and drinks contain “chromogens,” substances in organic fluids that form color when oxidized. For instance, the tannic acid in red wine can not only stain teeth, but the stains can also become permanent, especially among people with poor dental hygiene. Nicotine and tobacco products can also have a similar effect, as the particles in cigarettes, cigars, and chewing tobacco stick to microscopic pores in tooth enamel. These stains eventually become darker and more difficult to remove. Lastly, brown spots on teeth may indicate accumulated plaque that hardens into a substance (“tartar”) that is linked with tooth decay and tooth discoloration.
In addition to the way other people see you, the many methods of cosmetic dentistry can greatly improve the way you see yourself. Thanks to procedures like whitening, bonding, veneers, implants, and contouring, you can have the smile you’ve always wanted. We will use all our skills, artistry, and experience to design a treatment plan that exactly suits your needs and lifestyle. For an appointment at 6 Batavia City Centre, please call 585.343.4246. At BATAVIA FAMILY DENTAL, we’ll give you a reason to smile! P.S. As plaque and tartar eat the sugars that pass through the mouth, they produce acids, which cause decay and weaken enamel.
www.bataviafamilydental.com Helping individuals with dementia remain comfortable is a priority for caregivers, and understanding the symptoms and treatments can help caregivers make patients and loved ones as comfortable as possible.
Wisdom Teeth Wisdom teeth are always the last teeth to typically erupt in the mouth. Although your teen’s mouth may seem big enough to accommodate them, most often it is not. As soon as it is clear that the wisdom teeth, technically known as third molars, will not grow in normally, they should be removed. Early removal of the wisdom teeth lessens the risk that your teen will experience impacted or partial eruption, and the complications that often result. TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH By Keith Roach, M.D.
Is It OK to Crush Pills? --DEAR DR. ROACH: I would like to know your opinion about whether it is OK to crush up different psychiatric medications and put them in a small container of water to drink. This doesn’t seem very safe to me, but I’d like an expert opinion. -- Anon. ANSWER: I’ll give you my answer, and also tell you where to find an expert opinion. My answer is that many people have trouble swallowing pills, and that most pills can be crushed and taken with water or mixed in with food. Your local pharmacy sells pill crushers, or you can get a mortar and pestle. While you are at the pharmacy, ask your pharmacist. He or she can look at your medications and tell you whether it is safe for you to crush your particular medications. Slow-release medications, of which there are many, should not be crushed. Often, the bottle will tell you, but ask your pharmacist for the expert opinion. *** DEAR DR. ROACH: What are your thoughts about the MiraDRY procedure to get rid of underarm sweat? Is it safe not to have sweat under the arms? -- S.J. ANSWER: MiraDRY is the brand name of a microwave device designed to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). This is not normal underarm sweating, but a rare condition of abnormal, drenching sweat that greatly interferes with social activities. It is currently used only for underarms -- not hands, feet or face, the other most common places for localized hyperhidrosis. According to several published papers, the microwaves heat up the water in the sweat glands, destroying them, while the skin itself is cooled. The published success rates (at reducing sweating to “never noticeable” or “tolerable”) are very high, as are patient satisfaction results. Side effects included swelling, redness and temporary numbness. This is a new procedure, but it appears to have promise in the treatment of excess sweating. I also found a very helpful website at www.sweathelp.org. *** DEAR DR. ROACH: What causes foot drop? Is there any cure for it? -- B.H. ANSWER: Foot drop is most commonly caused by damage to the peroneal nerve, which wraps around the fibula, one of the two bones of the leg (anatomically, only the lower leg is called the leg, as opposed to the thigh). The nerve can be damaged from trauma, such as during surgery or prolonged hospitalization. Leg casts and prolonged positioning with stress on the nerve, such as squatting, also can damage the nerve. Most people describe numbness but not pain, and the dropped foot can cause people to trip, so people with this condition learn to flex the hip to lift the thigh up higher. The diagnosis can be confirmed by electrical studies of the nerves. Treatment usually is to prevent further damage, with a splint to keep the foot flexed upward. A physical therapist can prescribe helpful exercises. *** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual letters, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Your Different generations can learn and benefit from one another In the not-so-distant past, extended families frequently lived in close proximity to one another. Such families shared meals and experiences and essentially grew up together. Nowadays, families separate for various reasons, such as job opportunities and cost of living concerns. While there are advantages to spreading out, there are also some disadvantages, namely that grandparents and grandchildren may not see one another frequently enough. Even though people of different age groups may not entirely have the same interests, the interactions between generations can benefit both young people and their aging relatives. Finding renewed vigor Senior living and active lifestyle communities provide invaluable care and amenities for seniors. While being around like-minded individuals can be handy, it’s also limiting. Seniors who continue to age in place in mixed-age communities can extract joy from watching youthful children and young adults growing up, playing and socializing. Being around multiple generations also can spark interesting conversation, and all parties involved can learn something from one another. Planning for the future Younger generations may not understand the concept of “hard times” or “doing without” like a person who has lived through various ups and downs. Passing along advice about economic cycles, saving for the future and maintaining stability is one area of expertise at which many seniors excel. Practicing interpersonal skills All the technological savviness in the world cannot compensate for the power of strong interpersonal skills. Being able to address a group of people or speak one-on-one is essential in the workplace and in life. When younger generations speak to older adults, they may become
stronger at verbal discourse and have greater perspective of different points of conversation. Learning new technology Younger generations can impart knowledge of technological devices to older adults. People with skills are usually happy to share their knowledge. Even if seniors aren’t ready to purchase tablets or smartphones, they may be excited to have their grandchildren teach them about the latest gadgets. Providing sense of purpose Both seniors and younger generations can realize a greater sense of purpose when interacting with one another. That person may be the reason the other one greets the day with a smile. Visits from grandchildren can reduce the liklihood of isolation and depression in older adults. And younger generations can discover the benefits of personal social interaction rather than communicating exclusively through social media apps. Fostering intergenerational connections is a great way to broaden social circles, improve communication and learn new things.

Beat the heat during a summer wedding Tailor the reception menu to the weather. A large, heavy meal may not be what guests are hoping for when temperatures are especially hot. In such situations, provide some cool, light fare, such as chilled salads or cold soups, as first courses. Sorbet can be a cool palate cleanser, and grilled meats and vegetables will make for a satisfying, light main course. Ice cream cake may be a decadent option in lieu of more traditional wedding cake.

FLU-FIGHTING TIPS: Food can be used to fend of the flu. Common foods that many people already have in their pantries can be powerful flu-fighters. Garlic, for example, contains compounds that have direct antiviral effects and may help destroy the flu before it affects the body. Raw garlic is best. In addition to garlic, citrus fruits, ginger, yogurt, and dark leafy greens can boost immunity and fight the flu, according to Mother Nature’s Network. The British Journal of Nutrition notes that dark chocolate supports T-helper cells, which increase the immune system’s ability to defend against infection.

Warning Signs A Tire Is About To Go Flat Tires often produce w arning signs that a flat or blow out is about to em erge, so drivers w ho w ant to avoid such unfortunate developm ents can inspect their tires for the follow ing signs. • Varying w ear: Tires should exhibit the sam e type of w ear. The w ear on front tires and back tires m ay differ, but one front tire should have the sam e am ount of w ear as the other and the sam e goes for the back tires. Uneven tread on tires indicates that the tire w ith m ore w ear could be about to go out. • Worn tread: Em ploy the quarter test. Insert a quarter into the tread of the tire, w ith George Washington’s head upright. If you can see the hairline of the United States’ first president, then you need to replace the tire. Perform this test on each of your vehicle’s four tires. • Low pressure: M ake sure their tires are at the m anufacturerrecom m ended pressure, w hich can be found in a vehicle ow ner’s m anual or by calling the tire m anufacturer or visiting their w ebsite. An under inflated tire is under stress that can cause the tire to blow out. • Vibration: A car that vibrates excessively m ay do so because tires are dam aged. Whatever is behind a car that is vibrating, drivers should im m ediately take the car to their m echanic for an inspection. • Physical damage to the tire: Som etim es tires exhibit physical dam age like bulges or cuts, and such signs could m ean a flat tire or blow out is just around the corner.

SEEING IS BELIEVING WHEN IT COMES TO ROAD SAFETY
“There is the noble art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials…” ~ Lin Yutang
Perhaps the greatest thief of our time is the notion that we must attend to all the countless little petty tasks that confront us daily. We try to take them in order, complete them if possible and hope for the day when we will have a little time for more important things. What would happen if we simply left the trivial chores undone? If we eliminated the non-essentials, we might find time for more important activity. We might even have time for that long-delayed self-improvement project. It is our belief that a funeral service should be a beautiful experience to remember. It should aid the bereaved in their difficult adjustment to loss.
Jeff Deragon

MAINTAIN PRIVACY IN THE MOBILE PHONE AGE Avoid transferring sensitive data at public WiFi spots or over Bluetooth.
(NAPSI)—Although properly functioning vehicle lights, wipers and mirrors allow for better visibility while driving, these items are all too often forgotten or ignored when people perform basic auto care, says the nonprofit Car Care Council. “Making sure that you can see and be seen on the road is essential to avoiding motor vehicle accidents, yet many motorists overlook simple maintenance steps that can improve driving visibility,” explained Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. Following a few auto care visibility tips can be illuminating, helping to ensure the safety of you, your passengers and other vehicles around you. • Replace any exterior or interior lights that are dimming, rapidly blinking or nonfunctioning and be sure headlights are correctly aimed. • Make sure that vehicle mirrors are clean and properly positioned. • Check windshield washer fluid level and, when it gets low, replace it. • Replace wiper blades if they show cracking or if they chatter or streak when operating. Don’t forget to check the rear wiper blade. • When in doubt, turn your lights on to help you see and help other drivers see you. Some places even have laws that require headlights to be on when windshield wipers are operating. • Don’t overdrive your headlights. Maintain a speed that will let you stop within the illuminated area; otherwise, you create a blind crash zone in front of your vehicle. The Car Care Council is the source of information for the “Be Car Care Aware” consumer education campaign promoting the benefits of regular vehicle care, maintenance and repair to consumers. For a free copy of the popular “Car Care Guide,” visit the council’s consumer education website at www.carcare.org.

DRAFTY WINDOWS ARE AN ISSUE Drafty windows make homes less comfortable by allowing cold air in during the winter and warm air in when temperatures rise. But comfort is not the only concern associated with leaky windows, as such fixtures also can have a negative impact on the environment. Leaky windows require heating and cooling systems to work harder to keep home interiors comfortable during times of the year when temperatures can be extreme. In the dead of winter, a leaky window will force a home’s inhabitants to turn up the thermostat, which only increases energy consumption and energy bills. The same scenario plays out in summer, when leaky windows allow hot air in, leading homeowners to lower the temperature of air conditioning units so everyone inside is cool and comfortable.

HOW TO AVOID THE COLD COMFORT OF A DRAFTY HOUSE For those who live in older homes, the transition to colder weather can be extra disheartening, as the vision of expensive heating bills, chilly rooms and drafty windows dance in their heads. However, it’s easy to change the outlook from cold to cozy with a few simple DIY solutions. The most effective way to improve the comfort level in your home is to properly insulate. Insulation can be inadequate in older homes. Over time, it can settle and compact, creating gaps. Topping up attic insulation will help keep the warm air in, reducing heating bills and preventing stress on your furnace. For easy installation, homeowners and professionals alike recommend a stone wool batt insulation. For attics, aim for an r-value of R-50 or a depth of 16 inches. A little preparation can go a long way to keep the cold at bay. Seal out drafts by replacing worn weatherstripping and caulking along windows, doors, baseboards, and trim. For other ways to beat the cold, consider inexpensive window insulation kits along with thicker drapes, and don’t forget to reverse ceiling fans to push warm air back down.

BANISH MOSQUITOES FROM YOUR YARD Time spent in the backyard on spring and summer afternoons and evenings contributes heavily to the popularity of these times of year. Many homeowners go to great lengths to make their outdoor living spaces as luxurious as possible, only to be bothered by uninvited and bothersome guests: mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are not just pesky nuisances, but they’re also harmful. According to the American Mosquito Control Association, more than one million people across the globe die from mosquito-borne diseases every year. Such diseases include malaria, dengue, yellow fever, West Nile virus, and the Zika virus. The AMCA notes that many of the diseases transmitted by mosquitoes can be linked to travel to endemic areas. But mosquitoes in North America can still be harmful, and bites may result in severe skin irritation through an allergic reaction to mosquito saliva.

To the family who has the cute little produce stand in the Village - we love having the convenient, friendly option to buy from you. Everything has been fresh and delicious. Thank you!
I'd like to thank GVPS for the Give and Take Column as nearly 30 people called me in response to the free garden plants ad I posted. I was unable to return all the phone calls but would like to thank all who responded to the ad.
Thank you to all our friends, family, co-workers and colleagues who have helped us get ready for “Baby Bedo.” We are truly blessed! -MK and NK
To the lovely person who left a Kitty Mug with a Showering Plant on my doorstep, I love it and I thank you! Nancy D.
On July 31st, I received a special surprise when another customer at Aldi's in Geneseo paid for my groceries. What a thoughtful and generous gesture!
The First Presbyterian Church of Livonia Chairpersons of the New 2 U Clothing Sale (Sept. 21 & 22) and Penny Social (Oct. 27th) would like to thank Susie Q.
To the farmer who thinks city people should stay in the city and not invade their precious country living I have this to say. You need to follow the same rules and laws that I have to in this state. You're not special. You don't get a pass. I worked all my life, I saved to
build and own property in the country. I paid taxes all my working life. I have never been tax exempt! I was NEVER paid not to work either. So you benefit from me paying taxes, then cry that we should move back into the city. I wasn't given farm property as an inheritance from my parents or grandparents either. Yes, you work and work hard, but so do I. Population is growing, it's a fact, so here's my sarcastic comment back...Either accept that your country is changing or perhaps YOU should move further out to farm. Hey, Smoky the Bear! Why don't you burn your putrid smelling garbage in your
Rescue and Dreamers Closet Consignment Sales for their very much appreciated donations to our sales! Although we’ve had a very dry summer, all the towns have beautiful flowers thanks to the faithful waterers. “In my neck of the woods” the hanging baskets and business’ flowers along Main Street in Livonia are so pretty. Also many thanks to those caring for beds in Vital Park, Long Point Park (and just south of the park) and Mart at Fortune Palace in Lakeville for his lovely garden. P.S. The hanging baskets are nice but I miss the tire planters at Briggs Tire.
fireplace inside your house instead of in your back yard late at night fouling the air of the entire neighborhood? What gives you the right to ruin the air everyone has to breathe? Especially people with asthma or COPD trying to get some fresh air only to encounter remnants of your foul smelling garbage odor that has invaded their open doors and windows and permeated the entire house. I asked the Town Supervisor it if was legal to burn garbage in a back yard. His bizarre answer was 1) open burning of garbage/ trash fires is not allowed, but, 2) burning garbage/trash fires in an urn or container is allowed. Duh? Maybe we will get lucky and it will rain,
As usual, this year’s summer programs for the children at the Livonia Public Library were just wonderful. Seems the adults enjoyed each one as much as the kids! Many thanks to the staff! My favorite this year was the young man that did the “African Drum” singing and dancing program. “Library’s Rock", A Pleased Nana
and Smoky will disappear for a long time. To the person or people who took my 2 year old little girl's backpack in the parking lot of the [local church] on July 4th, I hope you enjoy my 2 year old's things, her baby blanket, her diapers and her tablet. She was asking for her things the rest of the night and will continue to for weeks. You are disgusting, and it is a shame you could not just turn it in to lost and found. She says you stole it, and even she understands you are disgusting and rotten.
