Hi Everyone. I’m Smokin’ Joe. I’m a 20-yearold, 1500 lb. half Percheron/half Friesian draft horse. I live in my Mom’s back yard in a nice barn and paddock with my brother from another mother, Mr. G. I spend a lot of my time thinking about my next meal—sometimes while I’m eating the one that’s right in front of me! I also hang out with my bro, cavorting, daydreaming and taking the occasional standing power nap. Mr. G and I both think we have the good life because our Mom sometimes gives us treats for NO REASON! Ahhh!

PET OBESITY IS A GROWING PROBLEM
Kidz Korner ____________________44
Vets advise that dog owners should be able to easily feel and count dogs’ ribs when they run their fingers across the side of the animal. Pets viewed from above should display an hourglass figure that includes an indentation near the midsection. The absence of this “waist” may indicate a problem. When observing a pet from the side while he or she is standing, a slight upward slope of the stomach should be visible. A low-hanging abdomen means abdominal fat may be present.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GREYHOUNDS Greyhounds are very fast. Some retired racing greyhounds can hit speeds as high as 45 miles per hour. While they only achieve such speeds for very short periods of time, that’s still pretty fast.

CONSERVE FUEL DURING YOUR DAILY COMMUTE Drive a vehicle with stop/ start technology. Stop/start systems, in which engines shut off automatically when drivers brake and restart automatically when the driver lifts his or her foot off the brake pedal, can make more efficient use of fuel. Once exclusive to hybrid cars, stop/start technology is now more widely available and can cut back on fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. That’s especially attractive to ecoconscious commuters who live in big cities where stop-andstart traffic is unavoidable. What’s more, many modern air conditioning compressors operate off electricity and not via a car’s engine, meaning vehicles with stop/start technology will stay cool in the summer even when the engine shuts off. DEFENSIVE DRIVING TIPS (NAPSI)—These five tips can help you be prepared for the perils of the road. 1. Know Your Car. Like people, each car has a unique personality. Some features work better than others, and conditions can cause a vehicle to react a certain way. Knowing your car’s limits and behavior patterns can help you predict how it will respond in certain situations. How long does it take you to stop and how much pressure is required on the brake pedal? What’s your turn radius? Does your vehicle lean when you round a corner? Does it quake when you hit a certain speed? Knowing the answers can help you avoid accidents.

2. Use Extreme Caution During a Lane Change. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that one of the most common causes of two-lane auto accidents is unsafe lane changes. 3. Know Your Blind Spots. Most cars have at least one line of vision that’s not clearly evident in the rearview or side mirrors. Even carefully placed mirrors often cannot cover every possible angle. Move the side mirrors far outward so that the angle of view barely overlaps the view of the rearview mirror. 4. Keep Your Hands on the Wheel. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now advocates keeping your hands at the 9 and 3 o’clock positions instead of 10 and 2 because of air bags. 5. Keep Up on Maintenance. Routine work on your auto, like oil changes, fluid refills and tire rotations, can make all the difference in your car’s drivability. Learn More: For further facts and tips about good driving from the experts at Driving-Tests, founded on the universal belief that everyone can be a safe driver, go to https://driving-tests.org. There, budding drivers can also learn how to pass the written test the first time.

You depend on your tires m ore during the w inter than any other season. So before the roads get slick, check your tires to be sure they aren’t w orn and that they are properly inflated. You should be able to find the proper tire pressure on the inside of your driver’s side door. Once you’re sure your tire pressure is appropriate, m ake a note to check again later in the w inter. Cold air w ill cause the air in your tires to com press and m ay cause your tires to lose pressure.

TRY A TASTE OF HISPANIC HERITAGE (NAPSI)—National Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to acknowledge the history, culture and contributions of the people of Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Spain. One of the best ways to celebrate, many say, is with food. Making that easy is one restaurant chain that’s having a year-round love affair with Latin and Hispanic cuisine. Long known for its authentic Tex-Mex roots, Church’s Chicken®/Texas Chicken® has spent years championing the commemorative period—which runs from September15 to October 15th—on a global stage. The first Hispanic influence on the company’s menu was the jalapeño pepper—the very first side item ever offered at the restaurant chain. The peppers were added to the menu due to a San Antonio tradition of squeezing their juice over various foods to give them a south-of-theborder style “kick” of heat and spice.
2.
The restaurant’s sister brand, Texas Chicken, features the Mexicana Burger on menus worldwide. This tasty chicken burger is a fiesta of tastes and textures, with a juicy hand-battered chicken breast fillet that’s topped “taco style” with cheese, fresh lettuce, tomato, spicy mayo, crunchy tortilla chips and chopped onions. A LASTING TRIBUTE TO AMERICAN SOLDIERS
585-346-5705
(NAPSI)—More than 30 million Americans have served in the United States Army. If you or someone you care about is among them, you can now order a personalized, commemorative brick that will be permanently placed along the pathway to the future National Museum of the United States Army.

Making a Museum The National Army Museum is rapidly taking shape at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, just south of Washington, D.C. This national landmark will be the first museum to tell the entire history of the nation’s oldest and largest military service. The massive 185,000-square-foot building will display a collection of Army artifacts, historic documents, and Soldier artwork. The vast majority of these priceless selections have never been seen by the public. “For those who served, the Museum will provide a place of reflection,” said retired Army Chief of Staff, General Gordon R. Sullivan, chairman of the Army Historical Foundation. “For the rest of America, it will be an educational institution that conveys American history through the eyes and stories of Soldiers, teaching our nation how the U.S. Army has shaped nearly every major event in our country’s history.” In the two years since groundbreaking, the building’s frame has been completed, and crews have installed the stainless-steel panels that make up its exterior. Inside, the circular walls of the 300-degree Army Theater are set, and four of the Museum’s largest artifacts are in place. How You Can Be a Part of It The U.S. Army designated the nonprofit Army Historical Foundation to lead the campaign to build the Museum. The Foundation developed the Commemorative Brick Program to raise funds for construction and offer serving Soldiers and Army veterans and their families a way to forever be part of the historic national landmark. The personalized bricks are currently being installed along the pathway leading to the Museum’s main entrance. Made of Mesabi Black granite, the impressive tributes will set the stage for the Museum experience. Individuals and organizations can still order bricks at www.armyhistory. org/bricks. A Look Back… MOMENTS IN TIME The History Channel
"Let food be thy medicine"
is a quote attributed to Hippocrates, the ancient scholar considered to be the father of modern medicine. The saying relates to the notion that what people put in their bodies can heal and/or prevent certain conditions. For seniors with medicine cabinets full of over-the-counter and prescription medications, the idea of relying predominantly on food to promote optimal health may be tempting, and various foods can be particularly useful to the 50-and-over demographic. According to the World Health Organization, poor diet is a major contributor to many of the diseases that affect older people. Poor diet has been connected to the development of diabetes, and degenerative diseases such as osteoporosis also may be linked to the foods ones eat. The National Council for Aging Care says micronutrient deficiency is often a problem among the aging due to factors like lack of variety in diet and reduced food intake. Eating a variety of foods can provide all of the nutrients people need to stay healthy as they get older. Certain foods may be particularly helpful. · Brain-friendly foods: Foods such as avocado, leafy vegetables, sunflower seeds, blueberries, and salmon are good sources of vitamin E, antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and other nutrients that may help ward off dementias like Alzheimer's disease, advises Sonas Home Health Care. · Anti-inflammatory foods: Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids may help prevent inflammation that can cause cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Aging.com says foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon, should be consumed at least twice per week. · Fruits and vegetables: Fresh, canned or frozen produce tend to be high in micronutrients, including a variety of important vitamins that are essential for all components of health. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics advises eating dark green vegetables, such as leafy greens or broccoli, and orange vegetables, such as carrots and sweet potatoes. · Energy-boosters: Choose whole grains that can provide sustained energy by way of healthy carbohydrates over processed grains. · Bone-friendly foods: Calcium-rich foods, such as milk, yogurt and cheese, can prevent calcium from being leached from the bones, which contributes to conditions like osteoporosis. · Digestive system-friendly foods: The digestive system slows down as the body ages, as the walls of the gastrointestinal tract thicken and digestive contractions that push waste along may slow down and become fewer. Foods rich in fiber can promote proper digestion by moving food through the digestive tract mor easily. High-fiber foods also may help naturally reduce blood cholesterol levels. · High-iron foods: Without enough iron in the body, a person may feel tired and lethargic from a reduced production of hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood from the lungs to the rest of the body. A lack of oxygen in body tissues from anemia can be serious, says the National Council for Aging Care. Tofu, spinach, lentils, pumpkin seeds, and fortified breads and cereals are high in iron. Smart food choices can help seniors live long and healthy lives. LP203730 GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

* On Feb. 22, 1732, George Washington is born in Westmoreland County, Virginia. As leader of the Continental Army in the American Revolution, his success was due in part to his shrewd use of the “ungentlemanly,” but effective, tactic of guerrilla warfare against British armies used to close-formation battle-line warfare. * On Feb. 19, 1878, the technology that made possible the modern music business comes into existence in a New Jersey laboratory as Thomas Edison creates the first device to both record sound and play it back: the phonograph. * On Feb. 18, 1885, Mark Twain publishes his famous -- and famously controversial -- novel “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” Twain first introduced Huck Finn as the best friend of Tom Sawyer, hero of his novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” (1876).

Most people think that aging is irreversible and we know that there are mechanisms even in the human machinery that allow for the reversal of aging, through correction of diet, through anti-oxidants, through removal of toxins from the body, through exercise, through yoga and breathing techniques, and through meditation. ~ Deepak Chopra
VALENTINES TRADITIONS FROM AROUND THE WORLD Valentine’s Day is celebrated across the globe. Come Valentine’s Day, candy, flowers and other gifts are exchanged between sweethearts in one of the many traditions associated with the holiday. The origins of Valentine’s Day are largely unknown. Some suggest Valentine’s Day was initially a way to honor St. Valentine on the anniversary of his death. Others believe it was the Christian church’s way of Christianizing the Pagan celebration of Lupercalia, a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture. Regardless of its origins, Valentine’s Day is now celebrated by millions and is one of the retail industry’s most lucrative shopping holidays. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

On February 1st my husband fell trying to get up our front steps. My cousin and I were unable to get him up on his feet. A car pulled in our driveway and a young couple hurried over to help us. Wow! Seems to me that you should look for another type of job! Seriously! I’m 66 years young, and at times, I do assist the cashier in loading my grocery bags into my cart. This is optional. I am a caring person who has worked in retail as a cashier, etc., but in no way is it something that should be demanded. Next, would you like for your customers to ring up their own orders (that’s what self-check outs are for) and bag their own groceries while on your line? After spending money for groceries, the least we, as customers, can expect is to have a cashier bag them and put them in our cart! You’re getting paid to do that; I’m not! I don’t want to go to your line, that’s for sure. Wish I knew where you worked! Get another job. I live in a small town, and GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

A big thank you to a good citizen who noticed something and said something, and to the RG&E response team for averting a potential tragedy in my neighborhood. On January 29th, an early morning jogger smelled natural gas on Wheatstone Circle in Fairport. Fortunately, he took the time from his run to report this to authorities. By 7:00 a.m., Rochester Gas and Electric responded and determined that there was, indeed, a leak in the gas line in my front yard. The RG&E team went to work immediately. They spent most of the nasty winter day locating the faulty gas line and replacing it. It unnerves me to think what might have happened. Instead, our neighborhood
was blessed.
close to me, there is a dog that is put out every day early in the mornings before light and during day hours too, barking constantly at nothing. I believe it has anxiety issues or its owners don’t take the time to train it. I like dogs; they are all around me, but this one is the only one that barks nonstop. Have some respect for your neighbors who have children who go to school and some people who work late night hours. For the respect of your neighbors, take the time to train your dog! Enough is enough. People with constantly barking dogs can get a fine of up to 250 bucks. I’ve done my research! If you’re home all day and leave that dog out to bark, then you have time to train it!

He is the one who should be making these choices and insisting on including his parents in family events. Maybe it’s time for him to put on his big boy pants and act like a considerate adult. What does it say about the way he was raised if he does not have consideration for his parents? This is not a one-way street. If you want this to change, then your son is the one you should be speaking to.

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to my neighbor, Rich. His business is next to mine and for the last two years whenever it snows, he has shoveled our front walkway. It’s good to know that such considerate people still exist! Thank you for your thoughtfulness and keeping our sidewalks safe. Thursday morning, as I was walking to open our Main Street office for business, I slipped on the black ice and fell. If it wasn’t for Canandaigua City Worker, Kyle, I might have been one with the ground for a while. Thanks, Kyle, for the help and for clearing away the snow and ice. Thank you, thank you, thank you to an unknown Walmart Superhero! I have never had this happen to me or even someone close to me before, but right before the big game on Sunday, a knight in shining armor paid for our groceries! We were struggling to just have a small set up of snacks and drinks for a few close friends, and this Walmart Superhero made it possible! Of course, I had to ask what team he was rooting for, and in turn, we cheered on Kansas City in his honor! In light of his act of kindness, Kansas City won! Rest assured if I am ever in a position to pay it forward by an act of kindness for someone else, I will surely do so!

STUDY SHOWS GIFT CARDS CAN GIVE A BOOST TO SMALL BUSINESSES (NAPSI)—If you own or run any of America’s nearly 31 million small businesses, recent research reveals gift cards can be a real gift to your bottom line. According to a 2019 Small Business Gift Card Study commissioned by First Data, now Fiserv, gift card programs help small business owners bring in more sales, attract new customers, and build relationships with their customers. Small Businesses, Big Benefits Not only do gift cards benefit a business, consumers expect them to be available at their favorite stores. In fact, 74 percent of consumers surveyed said they regularly buy gift cards from small businesses. And for business owners, offering gift cards can:
3-D WORDS
• Grow sales—Nearly 80 percent of consumers said if they have a gift card valued at 88 cents, they will visit the store to redeem it • Attract customers—90 percent of consumers who receive a gift card from a small business they have never visited said they would shop at that business and return in the future • Build loyalty—56 percent of consumers who shop at small businesses join their loyalty or frequent shopper programs. Of consumers that join loyalty programs at small businesses, 73 percent said gift cards are a preferred way for their loyalty to be rewarded. Restaurants, Coffee Shops, and Salons When asked about the ideal gift card to give someone, or receive and use themselves, consumers agreed on their top three: casual dining restaurants; coffee shops; personal services (i.e., hair or nail salon). Other popular businesses from which to give or receive gift cards included supermarket/ grocery stores, entertainment/movie theaters, and quick-serve restaurants. Employee Incentives Gift cards are often a popular choice for employers who use them to say thank you or reward a job well done. For 90 percent of consumers, they’ve not only received a gift card from their employer, but view it as an incentive to reward their hard work. Additional Findings • When purchasing gift cards, 60 percent of consumers prefer plastic cards or paper certificates, but interest in digital gift cards is growing. • 58 percent of small business owners said plastic gift cards cost the business owner less to manage than paper certificates. TO YOUR GOOD HEALTH By Keith Roach, M.D.
90-Pound Chemo Patient Should Stop Fasting ---
DEAR DR. ROACH: My daughter-in-law has stage 1 breast cancer and has just started her chemotherapy. I am concerned about her decision to fast for two days before and one day after each treatment. She weighs only 90 pounds, and fasting while you are trying to fight cancer does not sound like a good idea. What is your opinion of fasting during chemotherapy? -- K.B. ANSWER: In theory, fasting may make cancer cells more susceptible to chemotherapy, and there have been studies in mice suggesting this approach might have value. However, during chemotherapy, the whole body needs good-quality nutrition, and I could not recommend fasting for someone who weighs so little, nor could I recommend two full days of fasting before chemotherapy. Until there is clear evidence that intermittent fasting is of benefit, I don’t recommend it. Your daughter-in-law, in particular, is not a good candidate, being so very thin (assuming she is of near-normal height).

DEAR DR. ROACH: A couple of years ago, a letter writer asked if you knew anything about the effect of Advil on men with enlarged prostates. It seemed that ibuprofen decreased his trips to the bathroom. I have found the same thing myself. Taking two Advil allows me to wait five to six hours before having to urinate. Has there been more research on why this happens? -- S.Z. ANSWER: There is some more information. Men with symptoms of enlarged prostate often have increased urinary frequency, combined with incomplete emptying. This makes sense; if you can’t empty your entire bladder, you will have to empty it more frequently. So it seems the ibuprofen is letting you empty the bladder more completely. There are two major reasons for incomplete emptying, and different theories for why ibuprofen might work on each. Benign (not cancerous) enlargement of the prostate is one reason. In this case, it is hypothesized that ibuprofen stops the growth of cells in the prostate, but the exact mechanism isn’t clear. Reducing the size of the prostate can allow better, more complete urine flow. The other common cause of the prostate symptoms is inflammation of the prostate. In this case, ibuprofen’s anti-inflammatory effect reducing symptoms is easier to understand. The fact that it works so quickly for you suggests that the anti-inflammatory effect is more important in your case. Ibuprofen does have possible side effects, but two ibuprofen once a day is unlikely to cause significant problems. ***
DEAR DR. ROACH: My teen likes vegetables and eats right. He also drinks a lot of water, works out and doesn’t like soda. He and my sister have chronic constipation. They both now take a magnesium supplement and feel great. Is that OK? -- T.M.S. ANSWER: Magnesium is a common and safe treatment for constipation. A healthy diet, exercise and drinking plenty of water are good ideas for anyone with constipation, but some people do need additional help. I have previously mentioned prunes (or prune juice) as an option, but magnesium, if taken at a dose to ensure regular but not excessive bowel movements, is a fine treatment.

Inflammation of muscles and tendons may appear, but repetitive use injuries also may result in stress fractures, which the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases defines as hairline fractures in bones that are subjected to repeated stress. Rest between exercises can help alleviate these types of injuries. Ice, compression, elevation and immobilization may be used if pain is persistent.
DID YOU KNOW? The Internet has made it easier than ever before to access information quickly. But people who look to the Internet for answers to their medical questions may be doing themselves more harm than good. A 2013 study from the Pew Research Center found that one-third of study participants had gone online to diagnose a medical condition. While the Internet can be a valuable resource, self-diagnosing medical conditions can be dangerous, as the risk of misdiagnosing signs or symptoms is considerable. But misdiagnosis is not the only potential problem of relying on the Internet instead of certified physicians for medical advice. “Cyberchondria” is a term used to described the unfounded escalation of concerns about certain symptoms a person might be experiencing. These unfounded concerns escalate as individuals search for and read information about their symptoms online. In fact, a 2008 Microsoft analysis of online search patterns found that one-third of the hundreds of thousands of people examined in the analysis tended to escalate their medical-related searches, potentially turning relatively minor medical conditions into something far worse, all without consulting a doctor. Men and women concerned about symptoms or medical problems should resist the temptation to self-diagnose online and should book an appointment with their physicians instead.
HOROSCOPE ARIES (March 21 to April 19) All that flattery and fawning shouldn’t affect any decision you have to make. Keep your focus on the facts and ignore all the hyperbole, especially if it gets uncomfortably personal. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Your Bovine instincts are on the mark about that “favor” you’re being asked to do. Agree to nothing unless you get a full explanation -- which you would check out first, of course. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) A somewhat unsettled recent period should give way to a smoother time going through the week. Use this quieter time to catch up on matters you might have had to let slide. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) Feeling a little confused is understandable with all those mixed messages. Take time to list the questions you have. Then present them and insist on answers that make sense. LEO (July 23 to August 22) Cupid can be very helpful for Lions seeking a love connection. The chubby cherub also brings warm and fuzzy feelings to paired Leos and Leonas who already share a special love line. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Travel is favored this week, whether you’ll be globetrotting or taking a trip to a nearby getaway. You might be surprised (or maybe not) by who wants to be your traveling companion. LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Getting advice on your next business-related move is a good idea, but only if your advisers are trustworthy. Get references that you can check out before you make any decisions. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) Getting a boost in your self-esteem is one benefit that comes with a job well done. There are other plusses as well, including being noticed by all the right people. Good luck. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) Make time to deal with family matters, especially where they concern your elderly kinfolk. Being there for them from the start can help resolve problems sooner rather than later. CAPRICORN (December 22 to January 19) Getting a project started can often be difficult. But the good news is that you won’t want for lack of assistance from colleagues who would like to work with you. So, let them! AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) A lot of work-related issues might be raised this week, and you need to be prepared for whatever comes along. Things should be easier when it comes to matters in your private life. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) What might appear to be a much unwanted change in your life right now could turn out to be a very welcome event after all. Give yourself a chance to see where it might take you. BORN THIS WEEK: You exercise your strong leadership qualities well, which is why people believe in you and feel reassured by you. Third place went to Caledonia-Mumford Fire team, the Geneseo Blue Team placed fourth, fifth place was presented to the Wayland-Cohocton Canada Dry Humor team, and the Avon Mark Twainkie’s Foodies team came in sixth place. HOME FIRE RISKS INCREASE AS WEATHER COOLS (NAPSI)—The fall and winter seasons bring cooler temperatures, holidays, and images of cozy nights by the fireplace. Yet the change in seasons also comes with the chance of severe weather and an increase in fire risks. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, more home fires occur in winter than in any other season. “Holiday decorations, space heaters, generators, and fireplaces all present fire hazards if not properly used and maintained,” said Steve Hirsch, chair of the National Volunteer Fire Council. “Residents should be aware of the dangers and take the steps to make sure their families and homes are protected.” Follow these tips to minimize home fire and safety risks: • Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home. Test monthly to ensure they work. • Install carbon monoxide alarms and test them at least once a month. • Know where the gas, electric, and water main shut-off controls are and how to use them. • Place fire extinguishers in the kitchen, garage, and living room, and make sure all household members know how to use them. • Develop a home fire escape plan and practice it with the entire family. • Keep portable generators outside and away from the home. • Install a screen in front of each fireplace or wood stove. Store cooled ashes in a metal container outside the home. • Have chimneys professionally inspected and cleaned every year. • Keep anything that can burn at least three feet away from fireplaces, radiators, space heaters, or other heat source. • Never leave lit candles unattended, and keep them out of the reach of children and pets. • If using a live Christmas tree, keep it adequately watered and get rid of it after Christmas or when it gets dry. Residents can also take an active role in protecting their communities from hazards such as fires, medical emergencies, and much more. Fire departments across the country are looking for volunteers to serve as firefighters, EMS providers, and auxiliary members. “The majority of firefighters in the U.S. are volunteers—neighbors helping neighbors in an incredible and rewarding way,” said Hirsch. “We need more people to answer the call to serve.” Training is provided by the department, and volunteers can serve in a variety of roles, from providing life-saving emergency response services to conducting fire prevention programs and disaster preparedness planning. E-mail: patty.years@ nutrien.com BE SAFE, HEALTHY AND HAPPY IN THE WORKPLACE WHILE PREGNANT The first thing pregnant working women should know is that they have the right to work while pregnant. In the United States, it has been illegal to discriminate against pregnant women in the workplace since 1978, when the Pregnancy Discrimination Act was passed. But in spite of those laws, some employers may be less receptive to their female employees’ pregnancies, with some insisting they harbor good intentions, such as the woman’s safety. Businesses cannot fire employees for being pregnant, and many courts have ruled that decisions about the safety of the woman and fetus are up to the employee and her doctor, not her boss. On the same token, a company cannot refuse to hire a person simply because she’s pregnant. EMPLOYMENT

WORKING PARENTS CAN CREATE BETTER WORK-LIFE BALANCE
Fully Paid Training!
Become A Nursing Assistant!
Set reasonable goals. Much of the difficulty men and women experience in regard to finding a healthy work-life balance may be a byproduct of working parents spreading themselves too thin. Setting reasonable goals can help avoid that, but doing so requires taking commitments to one’s employer and family into consideration before agreeing to take on new projects or setting deadlines for projects to be completed. This should be applied to both work and home. If a work deadline is unreasonable, professionals should discuss that with their employers, who might change the deadline or arrange for extra persons to work on the project. At home, parents should avoid taking on too many projects, such as chaperoning a child’s dance or coaching a sports team, if doing so will adversely affect the amount of time they get to spend with their families.
Free CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Training. This is an opportunity for individuals seeking entry-level employment in healthcare to participate in a fully paid for training program conducted at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. 6-week training will be held in Mt. Morris starting March 30, 2020. Class size is limited to 16. Immediate employment opportunities upon certification! Apply at Center for Workforce Development, 6 Court St., Room 105 Geneseo, New York 14454 Phone (585) 243-7047 for more information. Application deadline: Friday, March 6, 2020 Interview and Orientation held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020
