STRANGE BUT TRUE By Lucie Winborne * Doctors who perform laparoscopic surgery, which involves inserting a tiny camera into a patient’s body through a small incision, have better coordination if they play video games at least three hours per week. According to a 2003 study, gamer surgeons made 37% fewer errors and worked 27% faster than those whose only “video game” experience was the surgery itself.

Protect Your M obile Devices - and Your Identity (Family Features) M obile devices have become an indispensable tool for many people - and the thought of losing one of those devices, or having it stolen, is disco ncerting, to say the least. But it happens every day. It’s estimated that lost or stolen phones alone could cost U.S. users $30 billion in 2012. W hen a phone or tablet goes missing, so does a lot of personal information. And that can lead to m ore than just some inconvenience - it can lead to a stolen identity. The Federal Trade Commission estimates that as many as 9 million Americans have their identities s tolen each year. W hile identity thieves still resort to old-fashioned methods of information gathering, like go ing through trash and stealing w allets and purses, they can also get the personal information you store on your mobile device.

HOW TO KEEP DOGS SAFE AND CONTENT Begin with training. One of the best things a pet owner can do for the wellbeing of a his or her dog is to ensure that it receives proper training from a young age. According to VetWest Animal Hospital experts, statistics show that owners who have pets that behave get more satisfaction and have stronger bonds with their pets. A dog that responds to basic commands can stay out of danger, and knowing what he is supposed to do can help the dog feel less stressed.

CARPET/FLOORING

RESTORE RUSTY TOOLS Many people may be tempted to discard rusty tools that have gone unused and sat in a garage or shed for a significant period of time. But tools encrusted with rust do not need to be relegated to the trash bin, nor do gardeners have to toil for hours scraping and sanding off the rust. There’s a much easier way to restore rusty tools that relies on a common household ingredient: vinegar. Pour vinegar into a deep enough vessel to submerge the metal part of the tool. Soak the tool overnight. The next day, use a scouring pad to rub off the rust. If the tool is too big to fit into a can or bucket, simply wrap it with a vinegarsoaked rag and cover the whole tool with a tightly secured plastic bag. Follow the same procedure the next day. After all the rust is gone, rinse the tool in cool water and dry thoroughly. Then return it to regular usage.

HOW TO CONSERVE ENERGY THROUGHOUT SUMMER Install ceiling fans. Ceiling fans can improve cooling efficiency in a home. According to the DOE, ceiling fans allow men and women who use air conditioners to raise the thermostats on their AC units about 4 F without adversely affecting comfort levels. Men and women who live in temperate climates may find that ceiling fans are enough to keep rooms cool without the need for air conditioners.

HOW TO CONSERVE ENERGY THROUGHOUT SUMMER Stop cooling an empty home. A cool home might be the ultimate necessity during summer heat waves, but there’s no reason to cool a residence when no one is home. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, operating thermostats more efficiently can help homeowners trim their cooling costs by as much as 10 percent. One way to be more efficient with thermostats is to keep the house warmer than normal when no one is home. Programmable thermostats can be set so air conditioning units turn on shortly before residents arrive home, ensuring the house is comfortable and no energy is wasted.

585-802-1544 PROTECT NATURAL BEE HABITATS Offer bees plenty of flowering choices so they’ll be happy to come investigate. Native flowers are best because they will be most familiar. Try to plant an array that will flower at different times of the year. Simple flowers will offer more readily available access to pollen than hybrid or exotic varieties bred to produce mounding petals.

PREVENT DIY INJURIES When working with chemicals and other products that have strong odors and/or emit particulates into the air, make sure you do so in well-ventilated areas. This will help dissipate the smell and prevent inhalation of concentrated chemical substances. Masks guard against dust, pollen and some other microscopic particles and may not provide enough protection, depending on the job. The Home Depot suggests using particulate or filtration respirators when performing tasks, such as sanding, where you might be exposed to particles. Gas and vapor respirators offer protection against additional substances.

Spring and summer are synonymous with increased hours of sunlight, warm temperatures and, oftentimes, an increased reliance on water to feed recreational pursuits and lawn and garden needs. The Water Information Program states that 3.9 trillion gallons of water are consumed in the United States each month and the average person uses 176 gallons of water per day. Water conservation may be essential when the risk for weather-related drought looms. Practicing year-round conservation efforts can help ensure smart usage of local watersheds, lakes and reservoirs and help maintain these water sources for years to come. It also helps the average person reduce his or her carbon footprint while saving people a little money along the way.

MAINTAIN SPARKLING CLEAR POOL WATER Maintaining a satisfactory level of disinfectant will help prevent the multiplication of bacteria and algae in the pool. Many pools are kept clean through the use of chlorine products. The ratio of chlorine to water needed to maintain the clarity of the water depends on the size of the pool, the sanitizer used, weather, sunlight and evaporation, and the pH. In many instances, the available free chlorine in a pool when tested should be between 3 and 4 ppm to offer adequate sanitation. Frequent testing will help pool owners gauge how well the pool water is holding chlorine and how to compensate if extra is needed.

Donna Marie Shepard July 25, 2021 Hemlock/Geneseo: At age 80, Donna passed peacefully at her home on July 25, 2021. She was born on March 24, 1941 in Honeoye Falls, NY to the late Milton and Helen (Shellman) Hollenbeck. In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband, Maynard H. Shepard. Survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Randy) Blackmer of Livonia and Charlotte (Steve) Smith of Hemlock; grandchildren, Desiree (Mark) Willis, Felicia Webster (Brandon Frank), Joseph (Leah) Shepard; great-grandchildren, Caden, Bianca, and Jackson Willis, Brennon Shepard, and Henry Shepard; sister, Cathy Hollenbeck; former son-in-law, Jeff Webster; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Wayne B. Frisbie, Jr. June 8, 2021 Dansville/Livonia: On June 8, 2021, Wayne B. Frisbie Jr. passed unexpectedly at age 48. He was predeceased by his mother Jeannine Frisbie in 2015. Survived by his loving wife, Ami (Waldinsperger) Frisbie of Dansville and children, Jacob Frisbie and Jayde Waldinsperger both of Dansville; his father, Wayne B. Frisbie Sr.; siblings, Darlene (Steve) Lawton and Kenny (Deanna) Frisbie; father-in-law, Joe Waldinsperger and motherin-law Bobbi (Bill) Litteer. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Donna worked for 3M for over 30 years and Morgan Estates for 18 years. In her free time she enjoyed reading and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wayne grew up in Livonia, NY where he excelled in sports and was very proud that he was recruited from high school to the Braves as a catcher, but after an injury and unable to play Wayne enlisted in the military as a marine in the infantry division. After serving his country he received his truck driver certification and worked for a national trucking company for almost 20 years as a feeder driver where he received many awards for his exemplary driving skills. Wayne was the type of person who always had a smile on his face and greeted everyone as a good friend with a big hug. He was funny and sometimes goofy but one of the best people you would ever meet. His nickname at home was MacGyver because he could fix anything, solve any problem and was always willing to help everyone and anyone. He was known to stop and help a stranger who needed help. Wayne did everything with his family, and was happiest spending time with his wife and children. He prided himself as a master Griller and loved to cook for family and friends. He always had a funny story to tell and loved to make people laugh. Wayne was the best husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor, and patriot. He made all our lives better just for being around. Wayne was the type of man most strive to be. Unfortunately, our country denied Wayne re-entry back into the U.S. and he had to stay alone in a country where he didn’t speak the language and was given 3rd world country health care. His young family and all of his friends are devastated to lose such a wonderful man. The world needs more people like him, not less. As per his wishes, “please remove me from voter registration so I don’t vote Democrat and have to come back and haunt people.”

Family and friends called on Thursday, July 29th, from 4-7pm at the Kevin W. Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 8624 Main Street, Rte 20A, Honeoye, NY 14471 (NOTE LOCATION.) Simplify vacations and savor the fun Use a travel agent. Using a travel agent to plan your vacation can remove any stress and anxiety you may feel when planning a trip and juggling the responsibilities of everyday life. Many people choose to book their own trips as a cost-cutting measure. What they don’t realize is that travel agents may be privy to special deals and perks they can pass on to customers. These agents also know the ins and outs of certain resorts and locales. Leaving the legwork in their accomplished hands means all you have to do is show up with your reservations instead of pouring over the minutiae of planning.

Thank you to everyone who made Al laugh and helped him through his last years. He struggled hard to live and did not want to die. With everything he was going through, he thought of other people and worried about them. He felt bad about all the lives that were lost while he was sick and could not be there for them. He loved his family and worried about a couple of them over himself. He loved life but did not like how it ended. The light down the road that he saw every night, can go out now. He was always there for anyone who needed help, he would drop everything and go out of his way to be there. Thank you for all the food, gift cards, special celebrations and of course the special visits from special friends. He finally got to go outside during the July 4th weekend with family. That let him be able to see his yard, his new truck and he was able to be by his camper in the rain. We also got a new puppy that slept with him and under his bed. He was so excited to get her. I think he wanted her for me so I would not be alone. Al always said that when you did something good that you would get a pat on the back, so, if you feel a pat on the back, you will know it is Al saying thank you.

SENIOR NEWS By Matilda Charles

More and More Scams Aimed at Seniors Most scams keep repeating year after year. After all, the scammers are making big money doing those Nigerian grandson/auto-warranty scams, so why would they drop them? However, new ones keep popping up. If you shop online, beware of accidentally typing in the wrong name. Scammers have created websites with actual information from real store websites, but with a slightly different name. If you shop at a fake store and put in your credit card, the scammers will have immediate access to it. If you learned how to do Zoom or other online conferences to talk to your family, beware any emails or messages you get about your Zoom. Scammers have set up thousands of Zoom-related internet links for the sole purpose of getting you to click on one they send you. The instant you do, malware (malicious software) is loaded into your computer. From that point all your personal data is at risk. Ignore those emails or messages. If there’s a problem with your Zoom, go straight to the Zoom site and check it from there. In a sign of the times, there are fake COVID contact tracers that ask for personal information and Social Security numbers. Hang up if they call you. A big problem is that often we don’t report the scams. We’re embarrassed, or we’re afraid the scammers will retaliate, or we just don’t know where to report it. If nothing else, you can call the police. If the scam happened on the Internet, contact the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov). The center has logged over 6 million complaint calls -- a big portion from those over age 60. Scammers are everywhere, and it’s up to us to stop them in their tracks by being wary of phone calls, emails and the internet. (c) 2021 King Features Synd., Inc.

HOW TO FIND A HOBBY Commitments to work and family can make adults feel like they have little time for much else. But finding time to pursue hobbies can benefit men and women in various ways. A form of escapism that can provide a much-needed respite from the hectic pace of daily life, hobbies can help men and women reduce stress by forcing them to focus on something other than the source of their stress. In addition, hobbies can be a great way to meet new people, an important benefit for working parents who may otherwise find it difficult to meet new people. Finding a hobby may take some trial and error, as adults may find activities that once appealed to them no longer do, while other pursuits may require more time than men and women can reasonably devote. Adults looking for a hobby can consider the following strategies as they begin their pursuits. Think back to childhood. A childhood passion may provide the perfect starting point as adults look for hobbies. For example, adults who enjoyed painting as children may find they still know their way around a canvas and palette. Ask around. Adults who want to find a hobby to foster social connections can ask friends, family, neighbors, or coworkers to recommend activities. This can help men and women make connections in their communities and/or reconnect with friends or family members with whom they have fallen out of touch. Think small. Because there is often some trial and error in finding a rewarding hobby, it makes sense to avoid making too big a commitment right off the bat. Before buying lots of expensive equipment or materials or making a large time commitment, give yourself some time to try a hobby on for size. The first activity you try might not necessarily take, and walking away won’t sting as much if you had not committed much time or money. Consider coaching or mentoring. Athletes who still have a passion for their favorite sports but can no longer meet the physical demands such sports require can stay involved by coaching youth sports. The same can be said for professionals passionate about their work who choose to mentor. These activities might not be traditional hobbies, but they offer a great way for adults to pursue their passions on their own time. Hobbies can enrich our lives and provide respites from the daily grind.

PAW’S CORNER By Sam Mazzotta

Grieving Cats Unite After Losing Brothers DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I wanted to share a tale of two cats. One is “Bean,” a chocolate Burmese. Bean had a brother, “Coco.” I purchased the two of them when they were kittens. Sadly, Coco passed away at age 3 from cancer. Bean grieved for a very long time. A few months ago, I met someone in an online group who also had two Burmese cats, and one of them passed away. The surviving cat, “Storm,” was inconsolable. Like Bean, she roamed her house day and night, meowing for her brother to reappear. Storm’s owner had health issues and was looking to place her in a new home. I had a feeling that together we could help both of these grieving cats. But cats, especially adult cats, often do not get along -- especially when one is introduced into the other’s home. However, both cats were fixed, which helps reduce territorialism and aggression, among other problems. We both agreed to a two-week trial; if the cats were too stressed out or fought, then it was a no-go. Fortunately, after a cautious sniffing-out period during their introduction, Bean and Storm snuggled right up together. They have been buddies ever since. Neither of them goes meowing around at night. Bean and Storm are a new family, and they couldn’t be happier. Thought I would share! -- Dana A., via email DEAR DANA: Thank you for a heartwarming story! You did the right thing by setting up a trial period, because cats that don’t like each other may escalate aggression with each encounter, and the trauma is bad for both. But it sounds like Bean and Storm have settled in nicely. Congratulations! Send your questions, comments or tips to ask@pawscorner.com. (c) 2021 King Features Synd., Inc. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

* Remove all of the air from a plastic storage bag with a drinking straw. Slip the straw into the bag and close as much as possible. Then suck any air out through the straw, and quickly pull out and close in a single motion. Your leftovers will stay fresh longer, and foods may stack better in the freezer. * And speaking of straws, did you know you can use them to curl your hair? Wind sections of damp hair around a plastic straw and secure the ends with a bobby pin. Dry in the sun or use a hair dryer on low heat. Remove and spritz with hair spray. * Here’s an oldie but a goodie! Iced coffee is at its best when brewed with twice the usual amount of ground coffee, because the coffee is diluted by the melting ice cubes. Or use regular-strength brewed ice coffee and serve over coffee ice cubes. They’re easy to prepare: Pour cool brewed coffee into icecube trays and freeze. * Lemon juice can bring out the flavor of mushrooms. I keep a little spray bottle to keep lemon juice accessible in the kitchen. I find it’s good for all kinds of things, like avocadoes and apples. I spray the cut side to keep them from browning. It’s also great for salad greens. -- T.T. in New Jersey

Although the cause of depression remains a mystery, certain distinguishing factors are common among those who have the condition. People with clinical depression appear to have physical changes in their brains. In addition, naturally occurring brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters likely play a role in depression. The Mayo Clinic states changes in the function and effect of these neurotransmitters and how they interact with neurocircuits involved in maintaining mood stability may play a significant role in depression and its treatment. In addition to biological factors in the brain, hormones can impact rates of depression or even trigger it. These hormone shifts may be a leading reason why women have higher incidence rates of depression than men. Depression is more common in people whose blood relatives also have the condition. Therefore, those with a family history of depression may be more likely to get it than those without such a connection.

DEAR DR. ROACH: Experts advised us to

WHAT CAUSES DEPRESSION?

Celebrating 20 Years

By Keith Roach, M.D.

“throw out sugar-laden cereals” and eat a healthy breakfast, such as oatmeal. Now we are told that oatmeal contains a significant amount of glyphosate, which they say is an ingredient in Roundup! Are we poisoning our children? -- A.D. ANSWER: There have been traces of glyphosate (an herbicide) found in oatmeal and other cereals. However, as always, the dose makes the poison. The Environmental Protection Agency has set a level of 30 parts per million, below which the exposure is considered safe. A 2018 study by the Environmental Working Group found levels of glyphosate in oatmeal breakfast cereals to be between 0.5 and 1 parts per million. It is unlikely that consumption of these cereals causes any significant health risks. Nobody likes the idea of eating an herbicide, but these are very low amounts, and some experts have questioned the specificity of the detection method used. The same EWG report found that organic cereals had less, but often still some, glyphosate in them. Although the levels in both conventional and organic cereals were safe, glyphosate itself is found at generally lower levels in organic products. Unfortunately, there have not been good studies on residual amounts of organic pesticides (some of which are substantially more toxic than glyphosate) that might be found in organically grown food. I agree with reducing the simple sugars found in many cereals, especially those marketed to children. However, I recommend more protein for breakfast than is found in oatmeal. You can add more with nuts, egg whites or seeds. ***

There are different types of depression. A person may have a single bout of major depression or recurring episodes. Depression that lasts two or more years is called persistent depressive disorder. A less common type of depression is called manic-depressive illness. This involves cycles of depression that alternate with extreme highs, or manias.

Ways to Become More Active Every Day In addition to working toward at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week, it’s important to avoid being sedentary, when possible. You can do that by making choices that build activity in your day. Some examples include: • Taking the stairs • Printing to the printer farthest away from your desk at work • Getting off the bus or subway one stop early • Parking in the farthest space from the door • Walking around while you are on the phone or having walking meetings

Inflammation can affect anyone, and those who have battled it likely have nothing positive to say. But while few people may associate inflammation with something good, inflammation is actually a process by which the body’s white blood cells and the substances those cells produce protect the body from infection at the hands of bacteria, viruses and other foreign organisms. While inflammation is protective by nature, sometimes an inflammatory response is triggered by mistake. When that happens, the body’s immune system, which is designed to protect the body, begins to damage its own tissues. The resulting symptoms of this faulty immune system response may include joint pain, joint stiffness, loss of function in the joints, and swelling of the joints. None of those symptoms are comfortable, and people suffering from them may be on the lookout for ways to alleviate their pain and suffering. While anyone battling persistent inflammation should speak with their physicians to explore their treatment options, a preliminary search of how to best treat inflammation will no doubt turn up information about heat therapy and cold therapy.

RECOVERING FROM STROKE (NAPSI)—Stroke is a leading cause of long-term disability—in fact, it’s even more disabling than it is fatal. The period following a stroke can be difficult for patients and their loved ones, as they grapple with the uncertainties of recovery. For example, Sabrina Warren-White was a busy professional when a stroke in left her unable to speak or use her right side. She quickly began a rigorous rehabilitation program and can now speak, walk and use her right arm. Doctor’s Advice Once acute medical issues are resolved, focusing on rehabilitation is paramount to helping people build their strength, capabilities and confidence, said Dr. Larry B. Goldstein, the Ruth L. Works Professor and Chairman for the Department of Neurology and Co-director for the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute and KY Clinic at the University of Kentucky. “Most patients will recover to some degree, but a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation is crucial because it has been shown to result in better outcomes for patients,” Dr. Goldstein added. Access to coordinated and intense therapies after a stroke is important because the greatest amount of recovery tends to occur in the first 30 days, Dr. Goldstein said. “Intensity of rehabilitation therapy matters,” he pointed out. “Patients need access to good rehabilitation services and should continue to work at it, even after that initial recovery period.” Where To Turn To help, the American Stroke Association’s Together to End Stroke initiative, nationally sponsored by Kindred Rehabilitation Services, raises awareness that stroke is largely beatable through high-quality rehabilitation, patient support, and implementation of Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery Guidelines. Patients and caregivers can access more information about recovery and how to make informed decisions at www.StrokeAssociation.org/recovery. GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

A Big Screen Opportunity Leads to A New Life BY MAGGIE FITZGIBBON

W

hen Haley Derrenbacher was asked to work on a movie set, she never thought that this opportunity would be life changing.

In the spring, this ambitious young woman, who was a Cosmetology student at the Mount Morris Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center, interned at Icon Salon & Spa on the Shore located in Canandaigua, New York. She was mentored by Daisie Nichols-Stanley, the owner of Icon Salon & Spa. When Stanley approached Haley about assisting on a movie set to create character hairstyle designs and help as a makeup artist, Haley jumped at the chance. “I’ve never done work like this before, but I knew that Daisie was depending on me, and I wasn’t sure if I would get to do this type of work again,” Haley said.

The movie called Ask Me to Dance was filmed in Rochester. The movie was mainly filmed at the Hyatt Regency Rochester Hotel; the backstage area was also located at the hotel. It was there that Nichols-Stanley and Haley worked to make the actors look like their movie characters. “The filming took place over two days. A wedding scene took place in a local church and a wedding reception scene was at the Hyatt. On the set, we had a small bag filled with combs, makeup, hair spray and other hair and makeup tools. We waited until we were called to do ‘final looks’ meaning touch ups,” said Haley. Haley had no idea what work she would be doing and didn’t know what to anticipate. “When I first arrived on set, I was very nervous, but after the pace picked up, we quickly got the actors’ hair and makeup done. Everyone on set was great to work with. Daisie kept telling me that I was doing great work, so that helped me to feel more confident. I did makeup and hair for one of the bridesmaids who was in the wedding scene. When I was finished and she saw herself, she couldn’t believe how she looked and was so happy,” Haley said. “Knowing that I made someone feel so good about themselves made me feel sure about my work.” Not only did Haley gain valuable work experience, she can also claim recognition for working on the movie set. Haley’s name is included in the movie credits, plus she was given a dress that was worn in the movie, something she will treasure. Yvette Seils is the Cosmetology Instructor at the Mount Morris CTE Center. When she assigned Haley as a student intern at Icon Salon & Spa, Seils knew that Haley would have great opportunities because of Nichols-Stanley’s reputation.

GVPENNYSAVER.COM 1-866-812-8111

After the movie set experience, Haley was offered a full-time position at Icon Salon & Spa, which she accepted. This recent Dansville High School graduate plans to find an apartment and move to Canandaigua to start her new life. This movie set experience has led to a new beginning and a new life for Haley Derrenbacher. The Mount Morris Career and Technical Education Center is a program of the Genesee Valley BOCES. GV BOCES operates as a Board of Cooperative Educational Services offering shared programs and services to 22 component school districts located in Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston and Steuben counties in New York state. Note: Bill LaVallee is the General Manager of Valley Propane and Fuels.

“Daisie operates an upscale salon and has high standards for the hair stylists who work for her. Haley made great strides in the Cosmetology Program, so I was sure that she was ready for this next step. She is a student who is dependable, creative in her work, and someone I can always count on to give 100 percent,” Seils said. “I knew that she would be a perfect fit for Icon Salon & Spa.”

Hamlin Town Hall I went to town hall to pay for my dog’s license. It was a pleasure to speak to Patty Jo at the office. She accommodated me even though I didn’t bring any of my paper work with me. Sad to say that sometimes people are very disconnected and don’t even smile or say hello when on the job. But this was not the case with Patty Jo. She not only did her job but was very personable. You can’t beat that! Thanks! Hope to see you next year!

S E V RA

Our thanks I would like to recognize Alexander CSD teachers, essential staffing and all employees expressing the amazing job done during a challenging and uncertain school year resulting from COVID. Without your dedication and flexibility, our children would have suffered. Your efforts do not go unrecognized by the community. Thank you for all you do for the children! E. W.

Beautiful flowers The flowers in Vitale Park are glorious. Many thanks to the people who give the plants TLC!

Donut shortage The [local store] in [local town] on [local street] doesn’t make enough of the good donuts in the morning. If you get there by 7am, all of the good donut choices are gone, and the bad donuts linger all day long. How hard is it to just make more of the good donuts? Everyone wins. To the donut manager, just know we all see you.

Rude, impatient driver I got stuck in the middle of an intersection. Traffic was moving when I entered, but it abruptly stopped. When the light changed, I was stuck under the light. When you got your green light, did you have to blast your horn? I had nowhere to go until the car in front of me moved. You were an elderly lady who then turned into the grocery store. I could see why 4 seconds was too long for you to wait. Impatient and rude! Seniors apartment costs Hi. I live in a seniors apartment complex in [local town]. We recently got a notice that they will be raising our rent about 30 or 35 dollars this September and then 3% for the years after. They forget that we are senior citizens on a fixed income. This wouldn't be so bad, but they have not done improvements. A couple of the buildings have no fire alarms; in some of the buildings, the security does not work. Some have not had phone service for a few weeks. Inside, our apartments have had the same carpets and kitchen floors and have not had a fresh coat of paint in years, but the rent still keeps going up. I think someone should look into this place.

Bias So tired of people always complaining about the less fortunate on unemployment, but not once do you hear about all these greedy companies that received benefits and PPP money that never trickled down! Too many tailgaters There are far too many tailgaters! Tailgating is illegal, dangerous, and very rude! Please stay 3 seconds behind the vehicle driving in front of you. If you have to go faster, pass by, but do not tailgate.

AVOID FINANCIAL PERIL AFTER A JOB LOSS Involve the entire family. It can be embarrassing to lose a job, but look to family for support. Children may not need to know every detail, but they can have a cursory awareness of family finances and understand they may have to cut back until Mom or Dad is working again.

ACHIEVE A BETTER WORK-LIFE BALANCE Establish your priorities. Make a list of the things that are most important to you. Having this list put on paper can make goals more attainable. Think about the main things you want to focus on in life and go from there.
