Crafting Comfort

In 2010, two local building companies – Morrell Builders and Pride Mark Homes – decided to reinvent the new-build and home remodel experience for customers. Jeff and Scott Morrell, along with James and James Barbato, Sr., combined their years of expertise to create an opportunity for people in the Rochester and Finger Lakes areas to build the homes of their dreams.

The Indē (intuitive + design) Studio came to life. Located at 1501 Pittsford Victor Road, Suite 300, Indē is so much more than a studio; it is a home new-build and remodeling business that prioritizes two values above all: customer service and craftsmanship. Instead of homeowners having to go to multiple businesses for their designing/ building needs, Indē created an all-in-one avenue to achieve the perfect home. Now in their fourteenth year of business, the Indē Studio and its team are just beginning to make their mark.

PRIORITIZING THE CUSTOMER

Indē originally started as a company focused on kitchens and bathrooms, but in the past decade, the business has expanded its reach. Today, the Indē team can build or remodel entire first floors – from kitchens and bathrooms, to flooring, built-ins, laundry rooms, pantries, closet systems, and full basements. Indē is the complete package for homeowners in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region.

For customers, getting started is often the hardest part. Studio Manager, Andrea Greco recommends starting with a visit to the space. “We are an open showroom and studio – you don’t need an appointment. We are open six days a week and love walk-ins,” she shares. Andrea also suggests taking advantage of the free 30-minute consultations at the studio for customers to truly get a feel for Indē’s process and to begin sharing their hopes for their project. These can be scheduled directly through the website at www.theindestudio.com.

For a remodel, every customer works with a team consisting of a kitchen and bathroom designer, a design consultant, a project manager, and a job foreman. The team may be larger based on the project, but this core group of four communicates throughout the process, start to finish.

As a company, Indē focuses first and foremost on prioritizing the customer. “It’s so important to remember that each customer is an individual with wants, needs, and loves. They are looking to create spaces that will be filled with memories with their family,” says Andrea. “Building a home is a big financial decision, and we want customers to feel confident. We love their project just as much as they do – it means just as much to us.”

Indē’s customer-centered values have made them a top home design and remodel company in the region. Their genuine care,

passion, and compassion in each project means customers often return for future remodeling or design needs. The team acknowledges how designing a new kitchen or other living space can be an emotional and personal experience; building trust in the working relationship is of utmost importance to ensure the greatest, most rewarding outcomes.

SUSTAINABLE CHOICES

The common phrase “my dream home” exists for a reason. Whether customers build that dream from scratch or remodel a few rooms in the home they love, Indē is ready to help realize their vision. With forty employees, ranging from designers to consultants to installers, this company is in the business of creating interesting and unique homes at an accessible price point.

TRENDING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

With such a strong focus on the customer, Indē designers are sure to stay up-to-date on current trends in the home design business. That is why they update at least one setting in their 3,500 sq ft showroom each year. Within the past year, the team has updated three settings, changing the whole front of the showroom. The spaces feature the most current trends: modern rift-cut oak for cabinetry, frameless cabinets, and inset cabinets that can be modern, transitional, or traditional, lighted cabinets, and beautiful built-in cutting boards.

Customers select from three lines of cabinetry: Wellborn Cabinet, Kountry Kraft, and Showplace. Countertop fabrication comes from Roma Tile & Marble – a company located in Syracuse – which offers stunning granite, quartz, and tile options. Indē’s many flooring options come from Hallmark Floors.

On the cover is a model townhome in Alpine Ridge, a community built by Morrell Builders in Pittsford. It features bold, on-trend colors and beautiful tile designs. The kitchen –where families often spend a lot of time together – is both chic and homey. The island is an eye-catching deep green (the color is called “Celtic”), which is juxtaposed against bright quartz countertops. The quartz continues effortlessly to cover the entire backsplash – an attractive aesthetic that is also very user-friendly and easy to maintain – and the stained wood on the stove hood lends a rustic twist to a modern feel.

Incorporating a blend of different colors, textures, and finishes throughout various rooms in the home enhances its overall aesthetic appeal. Andrea suggests a healthy mix of these elements in a new build or remodel project.

Andrea also recommends always thinking about how a space will be used. Is the goal to entertain guests? Or perhaps to spend holidays with family by the fireplace? Andrea suggests picturing the memories a room will hold and including those in the design process.

The key is to design with purpose. For example, traditionally, the wall trim is painted a lighter white compared to the walls themselves. In the Alpine Ridge model townhome, Indē flips the script and features a white wall with a taupe gray trim. The possibilities are endless, and with the Indē team with you every step of the way, dreams truly become reality.
