STRANGE BUT TRUE By Lucie Winborne * Native Southerners might well be surprised to learn that the word “y’all” dates to 1631! It was first used by the English scholar William Lisle in the sentence, “The captive men of strength I gave to you, the weaker sold; and this y’all know is true.”

Dansville’s Your Center Founder, Tina Markle, Continues Serving Seniors By Amanda Dudek

S

enior citizens are one of our most beloved and vulnerable populations. Tina Markle was so moved to care for our elderly friends, family and neighbors that she established Your Center, a senior center, in Dansville. A health care worker for the past 15 years, Markle understands just how important it is to provide for the social needs as well as the physical needs of seniors. “I have always wanted to open up a soup kitchen, and I joke with the seniors that the Center is our soup kitchen,” chuckled Markle. “When Your Center is open, it is free to everyone, and the less fortunate people who are in need come to enjoy our dining area with its TV, breakfast, lunch, free clothing, haircuts, crafts, games like Bingo... everything is done for free.” While the work she does has not yet become a 501(c)3, Markle provides funds for the Center, food and services for the elderly herself, along with some donations she receives, all of which, she emphatically stated, are used to provide for seniors in need. “We are not for profit at all,” she said. “When people tell me they have a need, I do my best to meet it. I get joy out of what I do.” Enter COVID-19. People were no longer able to gather, and social distancing had become especially important in protecting the health of our senior populations. Markle could no longer hold meals and activities at her center. “When this horrible virus hit, I still wanted to be able to help people,” she explained. “I decided to make free weekly meals for the community, even for essential workers at first, too. My family pitched in with my husband and daughters helping to put together and deliver meals on Wednesdays and my mother making the desserts and cookies the day before.” Markle and her husband deliver to seniors in the Dansville, Springwater, and Wayland areas, about 185 meals in total. “I had, and still have, people reaching out to me through word of mouth,” recalled Markle. “Even some younger families who have lost their jobs and are struggling have reached out to me. There are many seniors in Dansville who usually do their own grocery shopping, but now, they have called me and asked if I could help them get their groceries and their prescriptions. Seniors are very delicate, and sometimes, they don’t know to whom they should reach out.” Helping so many people certainly keeps Markle very busy. “Some days, I leave my house at 6 AM, and I don’t get home until 10 o’clock at night,” she stated. “I am looking forward to this virus ending and this craziness stopping.” While she wishes there Tina Markle (right) with one were more people willing to help, of her clients (left)! Markle carries on because it is “her energy.” “I was born and raised in Dansville,” she shared. “My dad, who sadly passed away ten years ago, was the Postmaster in Dansville. It is definitely overwhelming at times, but you have to be 100% dedicated to helping people.” The senior community has been very grateful. “My gosh, some of the thank you letters I have gotten from people since this started!” she exclaimed. “One senior lady wrote, ‘You are definitely my angel.’ I always say that this is why I do this when I get those letters. They are really written from the heart.”

Enjoying games at Your Center in Dansville before COVID-19!

“People don’t realize how much of a difference a little act of kindness can make in someone’s life,” she continued. “Others may think our elderly are fine, but they are lonely and sad right now. Just to have someone to talk to, a phone number to call, is so important.” As long as there is need, Tina Markle plans to continue. “I am going to continue to provide free meals every Wednesday for as long as I can,” she said. “Any donations we receive are going into this effort. When we are able to reopen Your Center, seniors can come in again and enjoy a family-style meal and meet with others.” The pandemic has also been eye-opening for Markle. “I knew there was a need, but I didn’t know how big the need was,” she explained. “I have really realized how many people come to me, how many seniors are in need, and how many didn’t know about me. I am not a millionaire, but I set a budget for giving, and I do what I can.” Markle encourages others to reach out to their elderly friends, family and neighbors, especially now. “See if they need help, leave them a note with your number, just be there to listen,” she suggested. “Just doing these things does so much.” For more information, call Tina Markle at (585) 204-4272 or email yourcenter54@gmail.com. DEAR PAW’S CORNER: This weekend while hiking with my daughter on a public trail, a big dog ran straight up to us and started barking fiercely. We were frightened and didn’t know what to do, so we stood still until the dog ran off. What should we have done instead? -- Paul in Lynn, Massachusetts DEAR PAUL: You and your daughter did the right thing by standing still when the dog approached. Running away or waving your arms may further excite a dog and incite an attack. Preventive Vet has an excellent post detailing what to do when approached by a strange dog, including common body language that can help you interpret whether the dog is relaxed, alert or feeling threatened (go to www.preventivevet.com and search for “off-leash dog”). Here are additional steps to take when approached: 1. Stay calm and observe the dog’s body language and behavior as it approaches. 2. Place your walking stick in front of you, between you and the dog. 3. If it comes close, put out a hand and say “Go home!” or “Sit!” 4. Startle a dog that doesn’t leave: Bang your stick against the ground (don’t wave or swing it) and yell “Go home!” Another recommendation is to carry dog treats on walks. If a loose dog approaches and won’t leave, toss a treat away from you (but in their line of sight) and when they go to eat it, calmly depart the area. Some owners will take issue with the idea of strangers tossing treats at their dog. But letting their dogs run off leash and out of view is risky to the dog and to other people, and just plain irresponsible. Ideally, dogs should be trained to stay within sight of their owners and well socialized to other humans; otherwise, they need to be on a leash.

Ankle and Foot Centers of WNY

By Keith Roach, M.D.

Medicine and Surgery of the Foot and Ankle Dr. George R. Vito, DPM, FACFAS Heel Pain - Bunions - Hammertoes - Neuromas - Bone Spurs Fractures of the Foot and Ankle, Diabetic Foot Care, Orthotics, Ingrown Nails Reconstruction of the Diabetic Foot and Ankle PRP INJECTIONS FOR CHRONIC FOOT AND ANKLE PAIN

Morning Stiffness Is Sign of Osteoarthritis --DEAR DR. ROACH: I’m a 67-year-old black female who’s been diagnosed with “a little arthritis” in my right hip. Now retired from a desk job, I unfortunately still am not getting enough exercise. My issue is that after sitting for a length of time, I’m in excruciating pain and can’t stand up at all. Once I straighten up and get moving, the pain subsides. I’ve been told “you’re getting old,” but I’m not old! I’m about 30 pounds overweight. Also, when I stand for any length of time, my lower back aches. Would taking a morning walk and a yoga class alleviate this problem? I’m so embarrassed when I get out of my car or get up from the dinner table. -- S.H. ANSWER: There are many types of arthritis, and the answer to your question varies a bit depending on type. I think you probably have the most common form, osteoarthritis, so I’m going to answer you assuming that’s the case. Stiffness in the morning, quickly relieved by exercise, is a hallmark of osteoarthritis. It’s common, treatable and not something to be embarrassed about. Exercise is an effective treatment for osteoarthritis. It can be difficult to get started, but the more people exercise, the more they are able to do. Walking and yoga both are excellent ideas, but the best exercise is the one you will want to keep doing. Osteoarthritis affects a fair number of 67-year-olds, but it’s important to remember that it’s not your age that is causing the pain: It’s the arthritis. Although we know of no treatments that can reverse the course of osteoarthritis, medications (including a few supplements), exercise and physical therapy all can ease symptoms and improve function. Losing weight takes stress off the joints and is recommended, but is not easy. Finally, severe arthritis can be treated surgically, with a joint replacement. That’s not a procedure to take lightly or have done too early. *** DEAR DR. ROACH: I’m 85 years old. I have numbness in my hands -- sometimes the right, sometimes the left; sometimes both hands or not at all. It lasts only a while. My doctor feels that it’s a pinched nerve in my neck. Can you give me any advice? -- J.B. ANSWER: A pinched nerve in the neck becomes more prevalent as people age. The nerve can be compressed by bony structures in people with osteoarthritis in the neck (this is spinal stenosis), or by disk material in someone with a herniated disk. Having symptoms on both sides is less common than having symptoms consistently on one side only. A careful physical exam can give clues that this is the case, but an MRI or other imaging study is the best way to be sure of the diagnosis. Hand numbness also may be caused by the nerve being “pinched” in other locations: in the carpal tunnel in the wrist or in the cubital tunnel in the elbow. An EMG test can help sort out where this is coming from. It’s certainly possible to have carpal tunnel syndrome on both sides. My best advice is not to rush into surgery at any age, but especially not at age 85. Physical therapy can prevent many people from needing surgery. However, if numbness progresses to weakness, it’s time to reconsider. *** Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. NEW ENERGY STORAGE TECHNOLOGIES TO SUPPORT RENEWABLES POST COVID-19 (NAPSI) — Cleaner air can improve public health, maybe even save lives. Fortunately, renewable energy resources—wind, sun, hydropower and the like—are now producing more electricity than coal. That’s where innovative energy storage solutions come in. They help create a cleaner world, encouraging investment into clean, green, renewable energy. To help, engineers and policymakers are increasingly turning their attention to energy storage solutions. New bi-partisan efforts in states such as New York and the Trump administration are in alignment to support new energy storage technologies that drastically improve the economics of wind and solar projects. The global rise in electricity generation from renewable sources has led to increased demand for advanced batteries that can be used to firm up this intermittent supply. This requirement is particularly important in areas where grid connections may be tenuous, unreliable or even non-existent. Additional demand for advanced batteries is presented by grid applications such as peak-shifting and Transmission and Distribution (T&D) capital deferral. Energy storage systems provide many ways to manage the power supply for a more resilient energy infrastructure, and bring cost savings to utilities and consumers. Batteries allow the use of electricity whenever it’s needed, not only when it’s generated. However, traditional battery economics and performance have not proved helpful as utilities look to increase renewable penetration through long-duration energy storage. The Problem One of the challenges to growing a North American energy storage industry, however, has been a dependency on a supply chain of hardware components, metals and chemicals, many of which come from outside North America. As well, metals such as lithium and vanadium used in some batteries are impacted by price volatility and security of supply. An Answer Those same risks do not apply to zinc-air batteries. Zinc is abundant and inexpensive, with a significant North American supply. Its chemistry is robust and safe. A zinc-air battery has decoupled energy and power, making it one of the lowest-cost longduration battery storage solutions available. A safer, cleaner future requires less polluted air which means replacement of carbonbased power generation with renewable, sustainable sources of electricity. Longduration, low-cost energy storage systems such as zinc-air will be a key driver to a quicker path towards a greener future. A “bet” on energy storage is a wager that will deliver a cleaner planet that will thrive for current and future generations, suggests Ron MacDonald, president and CEO of Zinc8 Energy Solutions, the leader in zinc-air battery technology, a unique flow battery technology using zinc and air as fuel.

This week’s puzzle answer is elsewhere in this paper. The Crossword Puzzle is provided by Tribune Media Services. Any questions or comments should be made to 1-800-346-8798.

When the Coca-Cola Company was ready to import to China, it needed a moniker that fit with the majority of that country’s spoken languages. The original choice, “Kekoukela,” sounded phonetically similar, but in certain dialects translates to “bite the wax tadpole” or “female horse stuffed with wax.” Further research yielded a far more satisfactory solution, “Kekoukele,” meaning “tasty fun.” GENESEE VALLEY PENNY SAVER

GENERAL CONTRACTING DID YOU KNOW? According to WorldAtlas.com, the largest city park in the world is Bosque de la Primavera in Guadalajara, Mexico. At 74,132 acres, Bosque de la Primavera is more than 14,000 acres larger than the world’s second largest city park, Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa. Bosque de la Primavera features the Rio Caliente, a geothermal river, and is home to a massive nature reserve inhabited by wild animals. The largest city park in the United States and fifth largest such park in the world is the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale, Arizona. The McDowell Sonoran Preserve includes 180 miles of hiking trails within its 27,800 acres. And while it might be one of the most recognizable city parks in the world, New York City’s Central Park is not counted among the world’s 20 largest city parks, despite estimates that it draws more than 40 million visitors each year. However, it is one of the most visited places in the United States.

HOW TO CONSERVE WATER AT HOME Conservation is an essential component of an eco-friendly lifestyle. Conserving the planet’s natural resources can have a profound impact on the planet, and conserving at home is a great way for men and women to get the ball rolling on their conservation efforts. One of the most effective ways to conserve at home is to reduce water consumption. Few people give much thought to how much water they consume at home, as water bills tend to be considerably lower than other utilities like energy and phone. But even if efforts to conserve water at home may not make a dramatic impact on monthly utility bills, many measures can go a long way toward preserving one of the planet’s most precious resources.

AS WORLD FACES HEALTH CRISES, NEW REPORT FINDS TRUST IS VITAL (NAPSI)—Recently, health experts gathered online to forecast the future of medicine. One theme: the increasing frequency of global crises. Now, COVID-19 has brought this hypothetical threat to life, and a report by the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP), an independent, nonprofit, scientific organization dedicated to improving public health through public standards and related programs that help ensure the quality, safety and benefit of medicines and foods, and the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence can help. Called “Trust or Consequences 2040: Will Innovations in Health and Medicine Deliver?” identifies what may happen in the future and explores the role that trust will play in helping people live longer and healthier. It identifies likely drivers of change, such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), gene editing, risks to health systems and medicine supply chains and opportunities to improve global health. Four scenarios surfaced: Scaling the tried and true: Rolling crises spur effective global collaboration to address health concerns. Medical advances based on big data and AI are implemented gradually. The focus is on baseline healthcare for all. Dangerous uncertainty: Problems with big data and AI lead to devastating healthcare failures. Unequal access to innovation means only the rich receive advanced treatments; people turn to folk medicines, science-based medicine is questioned. A world of difference: The success of big data and AI in healthcare leads to rapid advances in personalized medicine and prevention. Not everyone can access this and disparities between and within countries perpetuate a “haves” versus “have nots” dynamic. Solving tomorrow’s problems: Smart innovation is widely distributed. Big data and AI create inexpensive diagnostic tools. Diseases become more predictable and healthcare emphasizes prevention. New treatments and technological advances curb costs. The report also suggests how public quality standards for medical products could help promote trust in health and medicine in the future—as they have for 200 years. “Many of the challenging issues we face in healthcare are recurring and persistent. ‘Trust or Consequences 2040’ points out that we must plan for the future we want, or we risk failure and an erosion of trust. Standards offer a proven approach to building trust and ensuring as many people as possible benefit from promising innovations in health and medicine,” said Ronald T. Piervincenzi, Ph.D., CEO of USP. In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt. ~ Margaret Atwood, “Unearthing Suite,” 1983

NOW HERE'S A TIP By JoAnn Derson * Window frames can be tricky to clean. And they are a magnet for dust and dirt, or worse -condensation that can lead to mold. To get into the crevices, employ a toothbrush sprayed with a tiny spritz of furniture polish. It works! * “Firing up the grill? Don’t get hasty. Preheat. Cooking times are based on an even cooking temperature, and you’ll get that good sear on your steaks or chicken. Use a grill thermometer and you’ll know when just the right time is to put dinner on the grill!” -- T.E. in South Carolina * Ever wonder how long your peanut butter will last? On the pantry shelf, you can expect it to hold for 7-12 months if stored in a cool dark place. After opening, it will last 3-4 months in the fridge. * Smudged mascara? Remove it on the fly with a little bit of lip balm. Simply run your finger over the lip balm, then carefully remove the smudge. You also can put a bit of the lip balm on a tissue and use that instead. * “I dropped a glass in the kitchen, and there were a ton of small pieces. After I swept up, I wiped the area with a piece of bread, which picked up all the small shards.” -- W.C. in Kentucky * Stick-down carpet tiles are great for making a path from where you park your car in the garage to the door. It makes a nice nonslip surface.” -- R.T. in Florida

SENIOR NEWS LINE By Matilda Charles

Finding Fresh Food Many of us haven't been eating right lately. Sometimes the stores are out of what we want; sometimes we can't get an available pickup time. But there are a few other safe options for getting what we need. Community Supported Agriculture: Farmers near you like to know in advance if their crops will have a market once it's time to harvest, and they sell "subscriptions" that allow you, as a shareholder, to pick up fresh food once a week. Do an internet search for "community supported agriculture" in your area. Look for ones that sell more than just vegetables. Some also have eggs, butter, bread, jams, flowers and meat. Farm Stands: You'll see these along the road -- a small farmer or gardener who sells his produce at the end of the driveway out of a small stand. Stop and take a look, and ask questions. Most of them will have a limited variety, but it will all be fresh, probably picked just that morning. You might have to point to the items you want so they don't have people touching the food. That's a safety point you'll appreciate. Ask about other foods that will be available, and make it a point to stop by. And remember, no matter where you go, look for marks on the ground for places to stand six feet apart. (c) 2020 King Features Synd., Inc.

Celebrating Father’s Day while social distancing To say that COVID-19 changed life as we know it would be an understatement. Many people likely never imagined how much their daily routines would be affected when this novel coronavirus was just a blip on the radar at the end of 2019. Social distancing may have become the new normal, but it doesn’t mean that holidays like Father’s Day have to be a washout. As evidenced by holidays that have already taken place amidst social distancing guidelines, people are finding creative ways to celebrate special occasions. Here are some ways to make Father’s Day special even while social distancing. · Turn to social apps. Virtual meeting applications, like Zoom, Skype and FaceTime provide invaluable opportunities to speak and connect face-to-face when in-person gatherings are not possible. They also can be used to break bread together or to play games or relay stories. · Deliver gifts. Take a few cues from the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus and plan to drop gifts and run. Seniors and people who have compromised immune systems are at a higher risk of contracting contagious illnesses. While it may be tempting to visit your father or grandfather in person, even a short visit could put his health at risk. Instead, leave gifts outside the house. For added fun, hide the gifts and provide scavenger hunt clues. · Dine out at home. If dining out was something you typically do on Father’s Day, replicate the experience at home. Try to recreate Dad’s favorite meal from the restaurant he loves or see if that restaurant offers curbside pickup. Transform the dining table into a restaurant table, or take the meal outdoors for some al fresco fun. Let kids serve as the wait staff. · Spend time together. One of the silver linings of social distancing is the opportunity for family members who reside under one roof to have more uninterrupted time together. Chances are having the kids nearby and sharing some stories and laughs together will be a perfect way for Dad to enjoy Father’s Day. With some creative thinking, dads across the county can still enjoy the special day they deserve. TF206039

I have family members basically in every field as essential workers, (nurse, officer, co, fabric store for masks, etc.) ,but the person I’d like to give extra love to is my mother who works every day to make sure you get your groceries. The amount of stress grocery store workers face is harrowing, and I commend you. I pray you don’t catch it from one of the people from the public. Keep hanging in there. You’re part of the strong and resilient. Continue to do your good so others can feed their families. Peggy at Top’s pharmacy in Hamlin is so nice to bring my prescription out to the car when I am unable to go in. Thank you for your kindness! Also, a shout out to Anthony, one of the pharmacist’s at Top’s. He is more than just someone who fills your prescription for you. He listens

Even I have to feed my family and get groceries every three weeks when we run out. Not all of us have internet to place the pickup orders, and I take every precaution: wearing gloves and my n95 mask when going out as well as disposing of the used gloves in a plastic bag in my car. I do not stay. I do not linger. I do not buy and browse. I write my list, get what I need, stay 6 feet away from people who still don’t do this. I check out. I heard her brag, and then I went home, shut in to do house projects. So yes, I need food to live. Hope that clarifies your confusion.

I went to [local store] over the weekend and was so proud to see young and old wearing masks. What a sharp contrast to those who are fighting for rights and do not see the need to wear masks! As one psychologist put it, “Some people just don’t like being told what to do.” I think he hit the nail on the head. So, in actuality, it really has nothing to do with liberty, but it is an attitude problem. It was a pleasure to see people doing the right thing, even if wearing a mask could be a challenge for some. It renewed my faith in society that there are those who will do the moral and ethical thing in such unsettling times. To the man in the grey hooded sweatshirt and white tennis shoes: Please kindly refrain from stealing the flowers that I and others work so diligently to plant. if you have questions, and offers sound, practical advice. The other day, he even went the extra mile to come out from the pharmacy area, to show me something that perhaps my son should take. I had a choice to make, and I told him to pick, because I trust his insight. Usually pharmacists can be clinical, counting pills behind the glass partitions without having much if any interaction with the customers who come in to pick up their prescriptions. This is not the case with Anthony! Thanks! I want to thank the mechanics for still working through this pandemic, for keeping doctors, nurses, truckers, and personal vehicles going. I am so appreciative of it. If it were not for them working on my car, I would not have been able to still work and get groceries for my family. I also want to thank their families to whom they go your cheap and thieving behavior for their Mother’s Day gift. Please go to a store and get a beautiful bouquet of flowers and possibly a card. It will be worth it when they see you actually put in the effort. Petty complaints do not deserve the space they take up. Look for the good in every situation! I also am tired of picking up others trash, but at least I can do so! Yes, it would be great if people picked up after themselves or better still, did not throw stuff along roads, but who do we have to blame? Were they ever taught to pick up after themselves? I detest people who use rat poison. Not only is it a horrible way to die, but it can have a ripple effect. I’ve seen it with my own eyes working for a vet for several years, like the cat who ate a mouse that had eaten poison. The vet did all he could do but the cat didn’t make it. Then there were the eagles I watch on the internet whose first

home after being in contact with our vehicles, putting their own families at risk. Just know you are appreciated during this time. I live on North Street and walk my dog on my property. To my surprise during the month of March, I was fascinated in finding beautifully painted, small rocks at the base of my trees, first one, then others. I had spoken of it to my family members, wondering if it might have been them. No one admitted, so I am assuming it was a kind, loving person, maybe even a family trying to spread love and sunshine during these uncertain days. I want you to know, whoever you are, I loved this gesture and looked forward to seeing these beautiful treasures. Thank you, thank you, thank you,

baby died because the dead rat its parent brought to the nest to feed it had died of rat poison; the baby eagle got some of the poison, which killed it. How do we know this? Wildlife people got the dead baby and did a necropsy (autopsy) on it. This was a symbol of our country, of our freedom, and man destroyed it. There are other ways to deal with mice and rats, humane ways, too. Try using traps or smelly things. They don’t like strong smelling stuff like ammonia or bleach or even Irish Spring hand soap, peppermint oil, tea bags, etc. Remember, if you live with woods all around you, learn to live with the creatures in those woods. God put every creature on this earth for a reason. Humans are destroying this earth. I read that millions of birds are gone now. After they go, we will have more insects to contend with. It all has a ripple effect.

1. How do I get rid of spiny sow thistle and Canada thistle? Anne B. Spiny sowthistle is a winter annual that is actually in the sunflower family and not a true thistle. Spiny sowthistle spreads by seed. It flowers from late spring through the summer, depending on the location. The flower is yellow, resembling a dandelion, but forms in a corymbiform cluster. The root of spiny sowthistle is a taproot. It is found in waste areas and other open areas such as roadsides and thin turf. It can be controlled by mowing which prevents the stem and

flowers from forming and eliminates seed formation. The plant can also be cut out. A postemergent herbicide application is effective when spiny sowthistle is young and actively growing but should not be needed if the location will be mowed. For best results, treat prior to bolting.

the first time by early June. Mowing or repeated cutting may be used to help prevent the production of seeds and starving the plant. Persistent removal of the shoots before they attain several leaves will exhaust the storage roots within two years and eliminate the weed. One study found a 21 day weeding schedule was optimal. Postemergent applications of a systemic herbicide may be used. Fall is typically the best time for these treatments when the plant is translocating

food reserves to the rooting structures. Other good times are during the early bolting stage when plants are 6-10 tall and during the bud to flowering stage. Some of the common lawn weed control materials are effective. Spot treatments are good for limited stands. Glyphosate products labeled for the use are effective. Lawns should be properly maintained to promote a healthy, dense turf that with managed mowing will compete well with weeds.

Canada Thistle is a rhizomatous perennial. Since Canada thistle has a deep root system, the only mechanical approach for controlling this weed is to exhaust the storage roots (exhaust perennial roots). THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A NEW JOB Work/life balance: Before beginning your search for a new job, think about why you want to switch careers or companies. Long hours often leads to burnout. If you’re looking for a new job because you’re burned out, try to find a job that affords you a better work/life balance. A study from the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen found that, with the curious exception of people who work more than 55 hours per week, stress rises accordingly with the numbers of hours worked each week. Keep that in mind if your goal is to find a job that affords you a better work/life balance. Page 27

EFFICIENCY AT WORK Schedules can help professionals in much the same way that grocery lists help consumers at the grocery store. When visiting a grocery store without a shopping list, shoppers are bound to forget items, necessitating follow-up visits to the store, and waste time wondering what they need. Without schedules in an office environment, workers may allow time to idle away because there are no deadlines motivating them to complete projects.
