Chaplin: Fr. Greg Shaffer (chaplain@gwcatholic.com) Campus Minister: Amy West (amy@gwcatholic.com) THIS WEEK AT THE NEWMAN CENTER: TUESDAY DISCUSSION:
Amy will lead a discussion on the Newman Center’s pilgrimage to World Youth Day. Included in the discussion will be an excellent video of our experiences (by Kara Dunford), a brief explanation of WYD, a few students speaking about their experiences in Europe (with Pope Benedict), and then a powerful witness by Amy.
2210 F Street, NW Washington, DC 20037
White-water rafting / Freshmen Retreat 40 spots are available for freshmen for a weekend of fun, faith, and food from Sept.23-25 at Deep Creek Lake. Cost: $20 (almost free!). Need to sign up and pay by Tuesday, Sept. 20. Please email Amy at amy@gwcatholic.com to sign up. Mass buddy As we encouraged you last year, it is a great thing to get a “Mass buddy” – someone who comes to Sunday Mass with you every week. It is very much a part of the “New Evangelization” of which Pope Benedict has called us all to be a part. Invite someone to Mass! Room blessings This has been very popular among GW Catholics. Please email Fr. Greg if you would like him to bless your room and include your campus address and cell phone #. He will call you to set up a time asap. This is open to all GW students! Alternative Spring Break Email Fr Greg if you are interested in attending our Alternative Spring Break from March 10-17, 2012. The location is still TBD. It is a great week serving others! Mark your calendars! Need to be confirmed? Know someone who is thinking about becoming Catholic? Please join us for RCIA classes / discussions on Wednesdays at the Newman Center, 7-8:15 pm, starting Sept. 21. If you or someone you know is interested, please email Amy.
