7 Volunteers gain Carbon Literacy Accreditation as part of Trafford Eco Streets
Trafford participants committed to 4 group projects to raise awareness of climate chance in their local area: Climate awareness activities at Sale West Summer Events; establishing an Eco Team at Manor High; Cycling and food growing initiatives at Woodheys Primary School
15 individual pledges made to reduce carbon footprint e.g :
Replacing car journeys with walking or cycling, eating seasonal and local produce, lobbying local politicians, talking to friends and family about climate change and reducing the number of foreign holidays to one.

GROUNDWORK CASE STUDY PROJECT SUMMARY ‘A Carbon Literate City’ is one of the key aims of Manchester; A Certain Future. All residents, workers and learners in the city will be “carbon literate” by 2020 “Carbon literacy is about understanding what I need to do, where I can get help to do it, actually doing it and seeing that I’ve done it” Our Carbon Literacy Training: Explores the facts about climate change through video, audio and presentation. Encourages open, interactive and honest discussion Inspires participants to take action by incorporating a tour of best practice sustainable projects eg. The TreeStation, Off Shoots Burnley, Hulme Community Garden Centre
