Armando Alemdar Ara
‘Goddesses and Mythical Women’
Armando Alemdar Ara “...I aim for my paintings to unfold universal beauty, but without completely renouncing the human element.” Armando Alemdar Ara is an artist of Turkish descent currently living and working in London, UK. His pictures are in public and private collections around the world including The Macedonia Cultural Centre, USA, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Turkey, and Switzerland. In 2000, Armando gained his diploma in Master of Art History from Kingston University, and in 2001 he co-founded Neo-Modernism with fellow artist Andre Durand; a new philosophy of art. Armando’s visual work reflects influences from his reading of Hermetic and Sufi writings, philosophy and theology. The world that Armando presents is as convincing as it is mysterious. With his highly authentic style, Armando creates unique imagery of an inner world in continuous movement, exploring his themes through the use of form and colour. Starting each work with a drawing of the human figure, he then distills the figure down into basis for an abstract composition, through which his imagery presents not only harmonious, flowing forms, but also powerful conflicts, contradictions and breakthroughs, as well as overlapping shadows and contrasting improvisations.
