ORIENTATION
In medias res. After arrival we started to look at plots and houses. Right away I have seen many projects on the way from the airport to the cabin where I was staying. Nice orientation week with basic Norwegian language schooling. Getting to know the life in the company was very fluent and easy. The exitement of the new place and the calm atmosphere of the office was in nice contrast.
5
CULTURAL PROGRAMS
Neighbouring areas - hiking trip on oreintation weekend
6
WORK-BASED LEARNING
In the office we used mainly ArchiCAD from GRAPHISOFT. This software is excellent for full BIM. However in the problem solving process we have used many creative techniques to find the seemingly best solution. All it took is focus and opened mind.
7
OFFICE OPERATION
Kindergarden supreme - Using mixed techniques in learning
8
WORK-BASED LEARNING
Visiting contruction site has been a very valuable asst to my training. I had the chance to learn again when we design something, few clicks on the computer can easily mean long hours of work on site. I had the chance to learn to work with fine laser measuring tools, use power tools. Most of the cases the bedrock in Norway is solid granit, close to surface. It is a great advantage when it comes to building fundaments. To work with it is sometimes really difficult. It has been quite an experience to build a pond, dig a hole for tube, work with dynamite and see the machines working which raized my awareness over the costs of the building processes.
9
FIELDWORK AND SITE VISITS
Working with powertool - preparing the granite rock for dynamite
10
WORK-BASED LEARNING Organising the collected data into legal document. Starting from simple renovation work I have learned the main tasks at the company step by step, through 10 projects all together. My final - still ongoing - project is neighbourhood planning with 36 family houses. PROJECT #01: CARLBERGVEIEN - Single house renovation project. Learning company standards, Arhicad training. PROJECT #02: HOPPENVEIEN - Single family house plan from scratch. Municipality drawings. PROJECT #03: MANSTAD - Single family house plan from scratch. Municipality drawings, 3D visual for client. PROJECT #04: KROKEN - Single family house plan from scratch. Municipality drawings, 3D visual for client, landscaping. PROJECT #05: NEDRE BOGTREVEI - Single family house plan from scratch. Municipality drawings, 3D visual for client, landscaping, garden design. PROJECT #06: SARPSBORGVEIEN - Single family house, municipality drawings, 3D visual for client, landscaping, garden design. PROJECT #07: SKJELBUSTOPPEN - Single family house. Consultation, site visit, municipality drawings, 3D visual for client, landscaping, garden design. PROJECT #08: NAVESTAD - Plan of two apartment houses, carport and garden. Consultation, site visit, landscaping, 3D. PROJECT #09: KIRKEBYVEGEN - Landmass index calculation on big scale, private road and leveled parking. PROJECT #10: SAND - Plan for 36 modular family houses, communication with client, site visit, full architectural design, road, public space and uitility planning, visual impact assessment, garden design, green roofs.
11
ARCHITECTURAL DOCUMENTATION
Classic private housing project - Single family house, car port, landscaping
12
PROJECT #01: CARLBERGVEIEN
First project at MTS HUS AS was obliged to test my skills on overall uderstanding of architectural project, speed of work, technical skills with ArchiCAD. Renewal of the house involved lots of paperwork, so that the clients dreams could be fitted in to the strict regulations of Norwegian building code. Eventually the modification was realised in late summer.
13
ARCHITECTURAL DOCUMENTATION
From Idea to Modelling - Creating a new floor that suits building code
14
PROJECT #03: MANSTAD
Two floor family houseon flat surface with garage. Simple project to practice 3D engine and relatively fast work. Challenge was to keep fluent communication with client and try to be ready as they really needed the house for the fall of 2015.
15
ARCHITECTURAL DOCUMENTATION
From Idea to Modelling - Creating a new floor that suits building code
16
PROJECT #05: NEDRE BOGTREVEI
The american type one floor family house was the first the first project under my internship where I could take communication with the client to the second level and talk about exterior. A very little engagement and a carefree garden came as a result. The family is waiting at the moment for the house to get ready and in the spring time we are helping them to realise a nice garden with little shrubs, lawn and herb bed.
17
ARCHITECTURAL DOCUMENTATION
First Garden - Carefree garden, big lawn, thuja and juniper accompanying the granit bedrock
18
PROJECT #08: NAVESTAD
Navestad became a typical shoe spoon project. Eventually all the legally usable squaremeters are built. It was interesting to keep the houses from each other as far as possible, build maximum number for parking, outdoor storage and carport, keep the existing trees and use all the materials - graniterocks and landmass - on spot. Moving around with the big machines and keep the partly protected land untouched.

PROJECT #09: KIRKEBYVEGEN
In Kirkebyvegen we desgined 4 buildings. The surroundings of the Villa and 4 guesthoues is a very steep land. Without examination the client requested a completely flat terrain for the buildings. After few meeting and discsussion he was convinced to use the quality in a different manner and create terrasses. Taking a deeper look in the land-mass calculation the estimated saving on the budget is over 1.2 million NOK.

PROJECT #10: SAND
36 modular pre-fabricated houses on 18 plots. In co-operation with the municipality and the client the land had to be divided into equal plots. The difficulty of the project is the very steep elevation. Building roads, designing the utilities, taking care of the overall look is a real challenge. I am priviliged to be the designer of the whole project to detail level. The project shown the possibilities for the company in landscape architecture. From this point I have the possibility to carry out the full project. Completition of apartment houses and gardens is expected in 2017.
27
ARCHITECTURAL DOCUMENTATION
18 plots for 36 private houses, public parks, playgrounds, road and utilities in co-operation with municipality and client.
28
PROJECT #10: SAND The speacilaity of the project that first and second floors have very flexible relation. Suiting to the extremely steep or completely flat land, the big windows with living room, the carport, all can be changed and still the pre fabriacated modules can be produced as just the same.

FEEDBACK
MTS HUS: Gyuri shown dedication, enthusiasm towards given tasks. He understands very well the principals how an architectural office is set up, his communication with clients is good, got a good grip on ArchiCAD. He is sometimes surprising us and could work a little bit faster and more precise. We are waiting him back after graduation to continue his training so he can become completely independent workforce in the company. TENANT: The past four and half month at MTS HUS AS was a real eye opener. I am happy that I have found experienced and patient teachers. The team at the company was always ready to figure out any obsticle, I really enjoyed the process how we looked at the most difficult tasks. When trouble came, everything happened the same day. It was strange to see that in July really nothing can happen in Norway regarding official work. I have learned a lot about serious work, confidence, decision making, taking responsibility for my words.
35
FUTURE
MTS HUS AS is a fastly developing company. With the presence of different professionals the possibilities are opened to broaden the operations of the company. Composed of structural engineer, civil engineer, architect and landscape architect the team is able to carry out small and big scale planning from scratch to detailed planning. As a thesis writer student I have been offered a full time job at MTS HUS AS. The position would help me to continue learning more about my profession by practicing on realised developments. For complete independence new skills are requested. To maintain fluent communication with clients and municipalities - including legal documents of architectural documentation - Norwegian language is necessary. Currently the company is carrying out its first neighbourhood planning and started to engage in terrain modelling, landmass index calculation, landscaping, surveys, impact assessments of big-scale developments. This is partly due to the presence of LA and can onyly be sustainable with the continous co-operation. Considering all aspects I see a great possibility in continue working at MTS HUS AS where I have found really hard working people who are not just dedicated to precise engineering but to each other like family.
