YOUR GLASS VACATION LIST OF EVENTS JAN 25-28 Starting January 25th and continuing through the 28th, 2018, the West Coast of Florida will provide you with a once in a life time experience in the dramatic evolution of Studio Glass worldwide. Your experience will begin with the much anticipated grand opening of the Kotler-Coville Pavilion located at the entrance of the prestigious Ringling Museum of Art. This new space was created to present Studio Glass gifted from these great collections and selected studio glass works from the museum’s collection. Following this will be a strolling dinner and preview of Habatat Galleries “Masters in Glass “ auction, which will start directly after dinner. The next day begins with a visit to the Ringling College of Art and Design to visit the Richard and Barbara Basch collection. This will be followed by an entertaining talk by noted artist Richard Jolley in the adjacent Thompson Academic Center auditorium. Lunch will be at the school followed by a demonstration by Mr. Jolley at the newly opened Basch Visual Arts Center.
10Trends: Matthew Eskuche Agristocracy 2007-2010 18 x 96 x 26” Blown glass, oil paint
After this, we will visit two important exhibitions created by Habatat Galleries. “10Trends” is an eye opening presentation that speculates on the future of glass as an expression for artists. “Currents” presents new sculptures of 30 of the most sought after International artists working today. That evening, we will be hosted by the Alfstad& Contemporary which will offer a stirring installation by Laura Donefer and a presentation by Charlotte Schmitz & Deborah Haber: Shine The Light. On Saturday we will visit 2 noted collectors’ homes, both of whom have recently moved to exciting new residences. Following this, we will enjoy a traveling lunch as we relax in our state of the art buses for a scenic ride to St. Petersburg, where we will visit the Duncan McClellan gallery. Next, we are invited to share in a historic event, the grand opening of the magical Imagine Museum featuring rare glimpses into the 55 year history of Studio Glass in America. This will be an opening that you will not forget!
